here's several ideas for growing african american hair long Make sure you take enough vitamins (A,B,C,D, and E all help your hair) Take sufficient Calcium and Zinc. Do Not wash your hair too much Trim your hair a small amount every couple of months Use conditioner (I read these and why they work on Delfords hair fixer site )
I've been cowashing twice a week (as opposed to my usual weekly wash). My hair loves it. I also mist (not drench) with a water mixture nighty on twisted hair. This may be an alternative for those who can't cowash nightly. Beautiful results. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful video, thanks. You are so right, what "some" of us need on our hair everyday is water water water, which is moisture. My hair has always loved it, soaks up water like crazy. Been using this method for years, except sometimes I use nettle tea for cowash or plain water and use vegetable glycerine for leave in, mixed with water. I am so glad to see so many young ladies going natural and learning how to take care of their hair. Thanks again
+TheDarky20082008 it was easy. I did it when I took a shower every night. I only stopped because my hair is very thick and was clogging up my shower drain lol
+TheDarky20082008 I blow dried my hair 4x a week and twisted it my hair up while I was in the shower on soaking wet hair 3x a wet. I would do that while during my detangling process so I wouldn't have to do it again when I got out the shower
i tried washing my hair almost everyday for a few weeks now and surprisingly my hair seemed to respond very well and it has been very refreshing in these summer months to it.
I don't have as much hair, especially since a hairdresser chopped most of my hair when I asked for a trim. But, I definitely have to try this one. Thanks for sharing! Gorgeous!
me too!!! :o but if you well watching it, @Maryam Hampton, you are not really washing/co-washing your hair everyday, cause you said day 1: co-wash/blow dry/braids day 2: braid out. Am i wrong?
Dayane Dydy yes I am co washing everyday. Co washing is just using conditioner to detangle in the shower. And I do that every day. Blow drying and styling is optional. I do it often though
Thanks for sharing your routine. Your hair is gorgeous!!! What paddle brush are you using to detangle? Loved the cornrows!!! Could you please show us more of your protective styles.
Hi not a fan of heat but I appreciate simple and time factor. Good video clear info. Can you please leave the information for the scarf I need a bigger one the Durag I'm using has the separation splits and my hair is getting bigger so it is not wide enough anymore and I hate bonnets and that elastic around my head
What would u recommend to prevent split ends, I have 3c/4a hair and recently started co washing nightly and love what it does to my har, but I've read that saturating hair with water daily and detangling could lead to mid-shift splits in hair😔
i love your videos !! i am new to the natural world and trying to just figure out my hair .. what made you decide to co wash daily? and do you blow dry every night?
can someone explain what's a co wash and how it's done? is it only for thick curly or kinky hair types? just wondering because I have a distinctive hair type, it's super thin yet it's wavy on top and underneath it's more curly and somewhat frizzy and puffy and it's down to my lower back, it's a hassle to blow dry since it takes long to dry and if I want to flat iron it's also more time consuming, any tips for a more get together look without heat styling or fuzzy hair ? thank you ❤
Co wash means to use conditioner only and not shampoo. Most curly girls do it because shampoo can be quite drying and our hair needs to be moisturized which what water does.
+Maryam Hampton You rubbed something into your hair after you let it air dry for an hour and and before you blow dried, was it the Morrocan styling cream or something else? I know you mentioned after you blow dried you put the Just Natural oil in it, but what did you put right after the airdry time. You also pumped something into your hair after picking it and fluffing. Details for everything please. Thanks!!!!!
Not if you are very gently handling your hair, our hair is so fragile and it takes real true tender, loving-care to maintain it and get the growth desired. My hair has flourished and grown so much thanks to MJ hair routine tips, I absolutely love co-washing daily it is so awesome. I never thought I'd see the day that I soak my hair everyday without being worried about what I will do with it afterwards. I do twist outs most days, it's amazing.
Do you ever experience breakage doing this routine? When I cow ash everyday I get a lot of breakage but not from it being dry, it stretches and then breaks
+beau knows88 not really. Your hair never gets matted & tangled so no excessive manipulation. The shower stream does the detangling for me. I get way less broken hair when I do it more. My hair mattes badly if I wait 2 weeks and end up with a lot of hair loss. For instance I shampooed & conditioned my hair today. Had I waited longer I would've have a long prepoo detangling session + deep conditioning to get the knots out without ripping hair out of my head & have soft hair. But because I cowashed & moisturized on Tuesday I just hopped right in the shower, (in 2 sections, my hair isn't super dense) let my hair run under the water just pulling the minimal tangles & sliding the few shed hair out then shampooed etc. It makes my hair more manageable. Every head is different, I have low porosity dry skin/scalp with kinky fine/thin strands, letting my hair go without water for long periods is a no. My ends are in better condition. This regimen is much lower manipulation for me. My styles are either 2 braids or a bun. I wear braid outs & straight hair in the winter. My hair is mid back, hoping for waist length & beyond next year. Started my hair journey in summer 2013 with neck length hair. Setbacks I have had are drying hair dye & a bad box braids install. Only time I go a long period without washing is with flat ironed hair
Hey Maryam could you comment back and let me know the hair dryer you use as it's difficult to find hair dryers with various settings particular cool setting .. beautiful tutorial btw.. thanks x
Wonder could I co wash nightly but not detangle every night and just detangle once a week on my normal wash day. Have u seen lots of growth doing this?
I love watching your videos. I notice you never seem to comb or condition the hair that is closest to your scalp. Anyway I am an artist and I would love to paint you, by photos. Any chance?
trillestshay no it wont ...because the setting is on dry but i suggest fir u to detangle before drying because...when hair is dry it tends to break off when its dry so detangle first before you blow dry it and it will dry quickly and be more manageable
i have a question for you i want to try the everyday co wash and detangle due to my hair is always dry which is my only prob with natural hair but i have low porosity hair and i think i will get product buildup i use creme of nature argan oil hair products and i have twa hair so do you suffer from product buildup weekly after co washing everyday
Do you think that cowashing does not increase breakage because you are manipulating your hair daily? Dont you think that cowashing daily can cause moisture overload? thanks love your vids
It doesn't give me moisture overload, you can switch up conditioners daily. The Edens co-wash is very light weight and I love it although I'm not loyal to it lol, because I am a product junkie I switch up alot.
Vicky Antwi that is why there are different types of conditioners on the market, not all are deep conditioners you just have to carefully read the label to be sure. Like the Giovanni direct triple treat tea tree is a light weight conditioner and don't leave them in for more than 3-5minutes.
It's not bad you have to cleanse your hair every now and then but curly girls and naturals don't need to use shampoo that frequently because our hair is less oily and using shampoo too often can dry out our hair
Yeah when I first started my journey my crown was very dry and would break easier so I just would pay more attention to it and put more conditioner on it. Over time it has improved and grows like the rest of my hair.
love it! you are gorgeous! I be looking at other blk youtubers and us blk women are untouchable. so much beauty!
Yes indeed we are truly UNTOUCHABLE!!!!

there's nothing like a wash n go in the mornings when it's hot out omg the best
Cowashing my hair everyday made my hair grow so much. I need to go back to that.
how do you manage that?
+TheDarky20082008 it was easy. I did it when I took a shower every night. I only stopped because my hair is very thick and was clogging up my shower drain lol
Sunflower Kiera Oh ok. So did you blow dry or let it air dry? and styling it? That's kinda the only thing i was concern about.
+TheDarky20082008 I blow dried my hair 4x a week and twisted it my hair up while I was in the shower on soaking wet hair 3x a wet. I would do that while during my detangling process so I wouldn't have to do it again when I got out the shower
Sunflower Kiera Cool Thanks. I think imma try doing that

Maryam..... Yasssss.... Absolutely Beautiful, Natural hair is Everything!!!! 😘
when my newborn gets older I'm going to do this method bc right now I don't have the energy😂.. but your hair came out like Diana Ross! beautiful
I'm going to try the low heat setting next time when I blow dry my hair. Thanks for the tip!
Use cold air if you can!
You just got a new subscriber !! I love your hair care videos !! Keep it up :)
Thank you so much!!
WOW ur so lucky to be able to manipulate (wash+blow dry) your hair everyday If I did that I would have no hair LMAO
Lol it's actually a lot easier than it looks
+Maryam Hampton I think she means her hair is too fragile to do that everyday
Yea....I couldn't comb thru my hair daily either wet...she has amazing hair!!!!
me too!!! :o
but if you well watching it, @Maryam Hampton, you are not really washing/co-washing your hair everyday, cause you said day 1: co-wash/blow dry/braids day 2: braid out.

Beautiful Maryam....love your hair, I can't wait for mine to get that long.
I love your hair and your routine is so simple.
Thanks for sharing your routine. Your hair is gorgeous!!! What paddle brush are you using to detangle? Loved the cornrows!!! Could you please show us more of your protective styles.
I'm honna have to remember to try this. I think it may work for my hair. Thanks!
Maryam u are THE hair GODESS
Haha! Thank you!
I definitely should try this seems less time consuming and really simple.
I would love to see your hair done without the blow dryer, moreover since it's already long. Your natural curls are so beautiful.
We have the exact same hair type. I finally found my curl twin
omg ur hair is goals. did u rinse out the conditioner or did u leave it in?
Love that kitten omg its sooo cute

You're gorgeous and so is your hair gurll
you look so much like Solange to me with the braid out. anyhoo gorgeous hair!
What would u recommend to prevent split ends, I have 3c/4a hair and recently started co washing nightly and love what it does to my har, but I've read that saturating hair with water daily and detangling could lead to mid-shift splits in hair😔

Curdeejah Oglesby um oil treatments and cutting the dead ends off
Great video! you said you co-wash daily, do you do this routine daily (including the blowing)? if so how do you protect your hair from breakage?
Glad u made this video :-). The little kitten is cute too, use to have one just like it.
i love your videos !! i am new to the natural world and trying to just figure out my hair .. what made you decide to co wash daily? and do you blow dry every night?
She is sooooo pretty!! 😍❤😭😧
for your wash and goes are you doing that at night and putting in a bun wet to wear out in the morning? or are you leaving it in a bun?
You are gorgeous!! Love the hair
does humidity make your puffy when your outdoors or if it rains? i have a tough time maintaining stretched hair..
Youre so helpfull and so beautifull thank you for making these videos! 💜
Pretty I need a old school comb attachment for my blow dryer. It seems to make is easy 👍
So much easier!
Symply flawless way to be naturally beautiful
Washing my hair everyday in the summertime dries my hair out. I don't see how you do it! Ik it takes a lot of time. But it looks great
I don't wash I just use conditioner. But it doesn't take that much time. I'm use to it and thank you!!
Your hair is gorgeous!!!
Maryam is your hair mid-back length or waist length? I Can't really tell in your videos because it seems to always have a slight curl in it.
It comes an inch above my belly button
can someone explain what's a co wash and how it's done? is it only for thick curly or kinky hair types? just wondering because I have a distinctive hair type, it's super thin yet it's wavy on top and underneath it's more curly and somewhat frizzy and puffy and it's down to my lower back, it's a hassle to blow dry since it takes long to dry and if I want to flat iron it's also more time consuming, any tips for a more get together look without heat styling or fuzzy hair ? thank you ❤

Yes gurl! You are gorgeous 😻
I'm going to cowash everyday for a month see what happens. I've done it for a week so far and I noticed reduced dryness and shedding.
YOU LOOK SO BEAUTIFUL !!! UpDATED SKIN CARE ROUTINE PLEASE!!
yes..mine too!!.. ok thank you so much😊
+Maryam Hampton You rubbed something into your hair after you let it air dry for an hour and and before you blow dried, was it the Morrocan styling cream or something else? I know you mentioned after you blow dried you put the Just Natural oil in it, but what did you put right after the airdry time. You also pumped something into your hair after picking it and fluffing. It was shine serum!
Brand please? Sorry for so many questions.
T Lang paul mitchell
I love your results!! but would this but too much manipulation to do regularly if your trying if grow your hair as I am?
Thats my question...
Not if you are very gently handling your hair, our hair is so fragile and it takes real true tender, loving-care to maintain it and get the growth desired. Yessss !!!! Love it !
😍🙌🏾💁🏽 you look so pretty your hair is everything!!!!!! What camera/lens so you use ?
Canon t5i and thank you!
i have the same hair type!Im looking for curls, its my big dream.Do you have any tips?
What's the name of the blow dryer that your using in this video? beautiful hair btw
also washing my hair more often seems to retain more moisture because by washing frequently automatically enforces you to moisturize
Doesnt it mean more manipulation though?
+beau knows88 Ikr, I only wash every 2 weeks, I guess I need to try this cowash thing weekly. Since most naturals wash their hair so often.
+beau knows88 not really. Your hair never gets matted & tangled so no excessive manipulation. The shower stream does the detangling for me. I get way less broken hair when I do it more. Hey its by Kiss I just put it in the description box!
Thank you x
can you help me plz , what typr of brushes should i use i have used plastic brushes and i noticed that it made breakage on my hair ?
Beautiful hair! 😍
Wonder could I co wash nightly but not detangle every night and just detangle once a week on my normal wash day. Have u seen lots of growth doing this?

Your Hair Is Beautiful
Love your hair omg
Hi there...could you let us know what you use on your lips? Thank you!
hair crush!! ❤❤
I love watching your videos. I notice you never seem to comb or condition the hair that is closest to your scalp. Anyway I am an artist and I would love to paint you, by photos. Any chance?
That would be amazing! Of course you can! Tag me or email me so I can see it when it's done!
Hi Maryam, where can I purchase that scarf; I checked the comments first to avoid you having to respond to same question :)
All that hair 😍😍
If I blowdry my hair on a cool setting after every wash (not everyday) will it cause heat damage or breakage?
trillestshay no it wont ...because the setting is on dry but i suggest fir u to detangle before drying because...when hair is dry it tends to break off when its dry so detangle first before you blow dry it and it will dry quickly and be more manageable
Do you leave the conditioner in?

I have low porosity hair and no I do not suffer from any product build up because I rarely use product. I just leave a little conditioner in my hair
Hair is on FLEEK!!!! All to easy .....
All that hair 😍
New subscribers it's the first time I found someone same exact type of hair as mine on ytb
love it!
Beautiful as usual!
Yes I do I only detangle in the shower. I wish I could have showed ya'll but my shower is messed up.
Now what do you do a night time with your hair when it's time to go to bed?
Just put a scarf on like I did in the video
Queen!
Any advice for 2016 Autumn & Winter Styles
Do you think that cowashing does not increase breakage because you are manipulating your hair daily? Dont you think that cowashing daily can cause moisture overload? thanks love your vids
that's what I'm saying, I don't even cowash. But I was thinking of doing it once weekly but I'm afraid of moisture overload
It doesn't give me moisture overload, you can switch up conditioners daily. The Edens co-wash is very light weight and I love it although I'm not loyal to it lol, because I am a product junkie I switch up alot.
+T Lang everything u do in life including for your hair must not be done in excess..example washing daily..deep conditioning dailyetc
Vicky Antwi that is why there are different types of conditioners on the market, not all are deep conditioners you just have to carefully read the label to be sure. Like the Giovanni direct triple treat tea tree is a light weight conditioner and don't leave them in for more than 3-5minutes.
+T Lang ok thank you...is great learning from each other
do you do this everyday or once a week
is washing your hair a bad thing?? & how do I make my hair stop shrinking!?
It's not bad you have to cleanse your hair every now and then but curly girls and naturals don't need to use shampoo that frequently because our hair is less oily and using shampoo too often can dry out our hair
do you have parts that are more prone to breaking? of slower growing?
Yeah when I first started my journey my crown was very dry and would break easier so I just would pay more attention to it and put more conditioner on it. Over time it has improved and grows like the rest of my hair.
You are so pretty omg why
Could you cowash everyday with any hair type?
Yes especially if you have low porosity hair
You should do this make up tutorial
How long does this style last?
I don't understand.. When you put the mask do you rince it out, or you leave it to dry ??
Rhayanna Malanda Masks are to rinse out. It's deep conditioning treatment
Really nice
How often do you do this hair routine?
+Amber Lee everyday in the summertime
Your hair is so beautiful it's ridiculous I just.... 😍❤
........... yeah I kind of lost my train of thought.
can you cowash everyday when you are transitioning?
Yes.
