Tim I don't know if you'll see this but please don't be apologetic for your channel being successful and you earning more from it due to that. It enables you to make this content. And I would add that if you get offered sponsorship deals, you should take them, assuming morally you agree. There's only so many opportunities in life, and with how hard you work to bring people this content you really deserve it.
Here here! Tim has more than earned his success. And he should take everything offered to him...too right! I hope Tim reaches the 1million subs mark sooner than later 👍
I for one appreciate the statements made, shows consciousness of his opportunities to succeed especially on a platform, with such volatility. He didn’t just start doing this last year, he’s been involved in talk shows and travel videos when he was younger, and wow, he hasn’t changed. He’s well known in the Norfolk area.
Not sure why he would feel the need to apologise, I enjoy watching his vlogs, It makes me feel like I was there especially with the way he describes things and has an honest review on it
ABSOLUTELY! Just keep doing the odd Live from Great Yarmouth please. 😂
@@mryrius I believe both Tim & Alan Partridge are the two pillars of the community 🤣☺
I lived in L.A. for a short period of time and on my last night in town, we went out to the strip for a few drinks. I was a little drunk and sad that I was leaving-and lamenting the fact that I had never seen the inside of the BHH. So on the way home, I asked my Cali friend if he could stop there-I was going in. I marched into the lobby, after midnight I might add-and explained my dilemma. And the staff couldn’t have been any nicer…they showed me around the lobby area, gave me some matchbooks, postcards, pens and stationary. It was very sweet of them and a cool memory.
And some day I shall stay there!
Don't waste your money it isn't what it used to be
@@marciayoung8735 is anything…?
As a former employee of the BHH this was a nice walk down memory lane. I loved seeing all the familiar places, and they have not changed much, it's a classic. One of the things we were known for was our customer service, but i didn't see you interacting with much of the staff, and i don't know if that's post covid or things have just changed there. For example any time we had a new guest checking in we would walk them to the room to and tell them about the hotel then point out how to operate features in the room. It was a nice one on one experience that most hotels didn't offer. We would have let you know about the coffee situation and if you wanted, have housekeeping send up a coffee maker. I know it seems weird, but that was the level of one on one customer service we were going for, a real guest interaction instead of just a nameless faceless anywhere hotel that was not memorable. We had so many guests that said they felt like we were family, we knew them by name, and they knew their favorite staff by name. Ahhh, the good old days. Like i said, maybe post covid has changed that type of interaction :(
Great comment Nancy, gives another dimension to Tim's experience. I'm sure you were a great asset to the Hotel. Best wishes from England. Julie 🌸
Yes, thank you. I wondered the same, myself. Not much one on one, for that price. The hotel also seemed very empty.
What is that about being charged employee benefits, etc.? I’ve never seen that before.
@@marylandu.s.391 It's a new thing. Usually in major metropolitan cities at upscale places. They tax you on that charge, too!
I figured that Tim could ask for a coffee pot to be brought to the room. Also, when do you tip? I was a bit confused about that.
Thank you,
Deborah
Does paying an Employee Health Benefit tax means that the hotel has somehow legally found a way to avoid paying their share of the employee's health insurance plan and they have instead passed that charge on to the public?!
Right, that was insane. I definitely wouldn't pay that price unless I was a millionaire. Beautiful hotel though. Love the pool.
Sounds about right
Yeah I could see myself getting into a row about that. Beyond cheeky.
Yes indeed! That’s the kind of nonsense that goes on in California.
Yes indeed. It's super cheeky/rude. Plus if you're not on top of things they'll add in their own tip and charge "tax" on that too (tax that doesn't go to the government as it's not a taxable charge )
Since 2021, Rates at the Beverly Hills Hotel have gone up over 60%, a deluxe room in 2019-2020 was $675 a night, now it's $1,600 per night. Crazy prices, even for Beverly Hills.
Biden-nomics
As an American, my thought on seeing that room was, “that’s at least a $1200 room right there” so I wasn’t too far off. The breakfast was expensive - even as a New Yorker, seeing eggs and hashbrowns for over $24 makes my eyes water. But Jon Loviitz celebrity sighting? Priceless!
1200 !
Too expensive
But it doesn't even have jacuzzi sized bathtub. just a tub like you have at home lol
I was pre-guessing $1200 as well. Shocking & sad about the fees/taxes. California is doomed without changes.
@@irenedavo3768$1200 is literally the LOW END for a Luxury Boutique Hotel like Beverly Hills Hotel. You'd prob have a heart attack if you found out the prices of the higher-end suites there. The vast majority of people who stay there, money is not an object for them; $1200/night is chump change for them. And if you're working there, the tips are AMAZING. Rich clientele tend to be VERY generous with the tips. I also like that they pay their employees a reasonable wage, well above minimum in addition to the tips. You could actually live off your pay here.
I grew up seeing The Beverly Hills Hotel from the outside. A thousand thanks for the opportunity to see it on the inside.
I stayed in Bangalow 1c for my 40th birthday for 3 nights. It's a lovely hotel. And yes, I stole the corkscrew.
Before you itemised the bill, I was reckoning at about $850. My jaw dropped when you gave the actual cost! It’s fascinating to watch you showing us the opulence of these places, Tim, but I still think you were robbed, especially the Employee Health & Benefit and BH Occupancy charges. If I stay somewhere here in the UK, I’ve never been charged anything like this. What a racket!
tell me about it .. lets hope the employees see some of the money
@@WalkWithMeTim i believe the health and benefits fee covers medical insurance and sundry costs be it sick days or things like employees have to get homes fumigated if a customer brings bedbugs, the bh occupancy charge is coming to the uk with both london and manchester looking to add a charge to hotel (and other) customers.
All those hidden charges 😅 I'd pass but then LA has never been my must go to place.
Me and her stayed at a five star gaff in Yorkshire a couple of years ago. Staff in top hats, pick up from the railway station, as much breakfast in bed as we wanted, three course dinner (one of which was halibut with caviar sauce) and wines. It was less than £500 for the weekend.
😢 I went to Washinton DC American 30 years ago, and the first time, I took a taxi to somewhere for the fee of $10 after pay in cash , the taxi door was locked by the driver, he then saying : You haven't paid tip yet!
I was shocked about the tips paid by force in American. Disgusting!
The hotel is gorgeous but no tea or coffee in the room would be a massive disappointment for me! I love the convenience of making my own cuppa as soon as I get to the room on holidays. You even get this in 3 star hotels in Ireland.
If you could afford the tariff just order room service. They’ll bring it at a fun price😊
If you request coffee or electric kettle housekeeping will bring it to you for the duration of your stay, you never get what you don't ask for
They don't seem to ever provide jugs for tea & coffee in the US. In New York I asked for a kettle/jug and was told they don't provide them in a so called upmarket hotel. You have to go to the restaurant and buy. I only ever got tea/coffee making in a Holiday Inn. Take a mini boiler with you. Also the added taxes are on everything even in shops you look at the price but when have to pay there is added tax! That plus figuring out what to tip it gets stressful!
It's literally available upon request, why are yall not getting that? He didn't ask them for it, so he didn't get it. It's no additional charge to request the coffemaker to your room. Just tip nicely and that's it.
@@neferazureand also the tipping part then for a standard thing in this class of a hotel is ridiculous
I had the dough to stay in one of the bungalows there around 2002. The old inheritance thing. So I looked on line at all the pics of them. Oh my... I like the vibe at the hotel. You CAN just go to the pool and get drinks without staying there. (I didn't stay there) But the separate bungalows are supremely swankarooney. One or two have their own pools, a grand piano in one, and the 40's lux furnishings are really grand. Plus the old vegetation around the place makes it that much more cozy. So, DO look up the five or six bungalows there and see the pics. People stay in these for weeks...to write or escape.
Very rich people...

Thank you for showing us inside this iconic hotel, it's the closest I'll ever come to staying there!! 🤣 Fascinating to see what the hotel is actually like inside after seeing it from the outside countless times on TV & the big screen! As always Tim, fantastic and so entertaining!
its funny you see something that is so Hollywood and been in the movies and stuff .. and you then stay here its nothing special
You can still go in. Treat yourself to a cold soda at the pool restaurant and enjoy the experience for very little expense.
Welcome to the 🏨 hotel 🛍️ 🧳 California 😃👍🤍✌️💛🕯️
I am shocked that they don’t have a coffee machine. Normally luxury hotels always have a Nespresso machine. Unbelievable
Another way to make money, although they did have complementary coffee from 7
£12 dollars for a coffee taken to the bedroom. Plus tips ... 😂😂😂😂
If you’re paying over $1800 a night, room service is loose change, so why make coffee..!
I think it is unusual for you to get tea/coffee making in US hotels. Take a mini boiler or mini kettle!
I stayed at the Sea Ranch Lodge last year, (a mere $500/night), and it had a super fancy coffee set up in the room. And unbelievable ocean views. It's a pain to get to, but worth it. But no Jon Lovitz.
I have to confess that if money were no object, I would stay there in a heartbeat! In this setting, I wierdly love the Blanche Devereaux 'Golden Girls' wallpaper and all that peachy-pink decor - there are very few places in the world where that decor would look chic as opposed to achingly naff! Thank you for showing us these places. I was way out on the price; I was basing my guess on some very good London hotels, but then I noticed from your cup that it is part of the Dorchester Collection, and realised that I was out by a fair amount! But those taxes are a killer on top of everything else; I am all for paying taxes, but I would much rather they include it all in the rate!
yes and we dont pay that in London for the hotel stay .. taxes I mean
I immediately thought Golden Girls too!
Actually that wallpaper was designed by Don Loper in 1942 especially for the BHH. It's called Martinifque.
A blast from the past for me! Never stayed at the hotel, but ate more business lunches in the Polo Lounge than I could possibly count. It's a great old place but those add-ons to the room charges are outrageous. Thank goodness I never had to pick up a lunch tab!
I really, REALLY enjoy this series. Chap is nice and down-to-earth. Kind - even when there is nothing good to say about a place, he is honest, but always tries to find a positive in the negative. (See Circus, Circus; Las Vegas). This is better than watching the news!😃
Wow thanks, I'll be back in LA very soon
@@WalkWithMeTim Actually, I'm enjoying all the trips you take; The Ritz in London, The most northerly hotel (polar bears, reindeer), Circus Circus Las Vegas; I pass 'em on to friends and family so they can watch too. Better than the news (doom n' gloom). Oh - and yes - I subscribed.
I used to do a lot of traveling for my job. In the old days they would charge you every time you used the phone to make a local call, and God forbid if you had to make a long distance call. Also, every time your electronic room key was used to access the gym at some hotels.
One other thing, I had no idea the Beverly Hills Hotel was that big. It looks so small from the street view.
I stayed at a resort in Missouri and there was multiple gift baskets and a fridge filled with drinks and their where notes stating "no extra cost, so enjoy at your leisure". You could even request a bus to help get to specific part of the resort and related attractions, no extra cost. Plus the website also shows the after tax prices straight up and no hidden fees. (The taxes where 8%, so not any different than sales tax here). I grew up in California, so I was use to resorts trying to nickle and dime you, so even though the place was not cheap, it actual felt like you got what you paid for.
lol because that was Missouri in the middle of freaking nowhere. Cost of living in Missouri is also way cheaper, so you ain't really sayin much there.
6:04 I love Jon Lovitz. I can’t believe you referenced FRIENDS amongst his other work 😂
Great video Tim, I wasn’t very impressed with the standard of your room, for that price I would expect everything to be pristine. . . As my late mother used to say… it’s all fur coat and no knickers! Lol
You and me both!
Considering the American don't know how to build. That hotel might be iconic.. but I wouldn't stay even for free.😂😂😂
@@zaneta3880I like old hotels
@@zaneta3880you must be Polish if you say that. My friend who has company 35 years , hired two illegal Poles. They started to teach him after few days to built with concrete an blocks. Only Polish and Russians do that.
In case you are wondering the tax is specifically for Beverly hills. It varies based on location, as a way to tax the rich.
This country is doomed. You pay $1900.00 a night for a room, but they cant afford to pay their employees health insurance. I would not stay there even if I could ever afford it. What a rip off.
It actually has NOTHING to do with BHH not affording health care. It literally has to do with a tax they are required to charge by the STATE.
I'm not even sure what the complaint is here, btw. Even in other countries where they off "free" healthcare, it isn't actually free because you still pay into it with taxes. Nothing in this world is truly "free".
Also want to mention that Beverly Hills Hotel is probably one of the better hotels that actually pay their employees VERY well compared to the bigger franchises who barely pay their workers pennies. You can actually live off your pay working at BHH; the base hourly rates are far more generous AND the tips are amazing because of the higher-end clientele with money blowing out of their nostrils. It's weird to make such wild assumptions about a place just because you'll never be able to afford to stay there. Comes off as more envious than anything.
@@neferazureyou must work there. I can afford it and I'm in California quite often , I grew up there so I fly home to see my parents. Beverly Hills/ Hollywood isn't what it used to be so be honest !! I do like the fact that they pay their employees well. Oh California does tax on almost everything, they are killing you guys with gas prices and the beaches aren't safe anymore. I guess it's still good if you are one of those Woke people, then you are right at home. Good Luck to you.
The employee health insurance tax has nothing to do with the hotel
I lived a short walk from this hotel when I first lived in the area late 1960's- Heather Court, B.H., a little house, I was 21-22 years old, a rental. Today it just sold for almost 2 million bucks! Off Coldwater Canyon Drive. Used to drive by this hotel every day.
I'm shocked by that room price. Your hotel room in Dubai's 7star was a palace compared to this, and for a similar price! Wow. Great content, thank you.👌🏼 ❤
This hotel reminds me of the 80s I miss them
In that first bal room the light looked like a giant wasps nest!
I’m so grateful you stayed here so I get to see it but don’t have to foot the bill! 😂 Thank You Tim, excellent vlog!
Tim, I think the people who normally stay there are more likely to charter a private jet to the closest Starbucks than make their own coffee... "Making my own coffee, what a ghastly idea."

Wow the price was astonishing and I think they just made up the extra charges. Great Vlog Tim.
I think so too! Lol
As an American, and a Californian, thank you for providing all of your insight into this historic hotel. I have wondered what it would be like. Usually do a fair amount of research and find a less popular hotel or B&B if I'm traveling, but WOW I love seeing what I can expect from these hotels. I love your videos and just recently subscribed and now I'm binge watching.
I really enjoyed watching that, thanks Tim. My husband, son and I stayed in the Marilyn Monroe cottage of the BHH for two nights as a retirement treat in 2014. I had often wondered what the rooms/suites were like in the main hotel and I thought that your room 219 was fab. We loved the old Hollywood ‘Rat Pack’ atmosphere that the place still has with all the stars of yesteryear staying there and partying. We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent poolside. I didn’t swim, but my husband and son did and told me that whilst swimming under the water there was piped Frank Sinatra music that could be heard whilst under the water, how amazing was that? It is a very expensive place to stay, but what an iconic place. We loved every minute of it and I would certainly stay there again if I had the opportunity xx
That’s amazing, long time ago I discovered this hotel because of the song hotel california, on the album cover is the photo of BHH, a beautiful photo, I really want to go there one day, I think that from 2014 to 2023 not much has changed

People saying, "Well, that's America". No, "that's California".

@@terejosh13How much?
Actually, no, that's Beverly Hills! 😏
It’s Beverly Hills …. It’s one of the most expensive parts of the country. Not a new concept guys.
Exactly...not every state has this and fact some states have NO taxes at all. So it pisses me off when people categorize a nation of 331 million documented people into one category. I found service in UK to be less than expected because tipping is included in many services whether it's good of mediocre.
I just love your videos. I feel like I’m right there with you visiting all these beautiful hotels…can’t wait to see the next one. 😊
Love the gardens and outdoor places.
I went to a very expensive hotel once and when I looked at my bill, they added on a resort fee. I asked what the resort fee covered and the person behind the desk said it was for the use of the pool. Well, the pool was outside and it was in New Hampshire during the winter. Obviously it was closed but I guess that didn't matter.
Resort fees are maddening. Esp when not obvious in upfront pricing.
Wow. This is something that most of us will never see or experience. Thank you so much for going, and sharing you trip with us 😊
Glad you enjoyed it David
Very nice place. Loved the pool and the breakfast with coffee looked excellent.

Very nice video man! keep the good jobs!! and that appearance of Jon Lovitz...MADE MY DAY!!!
I've been lucky enough to stay at the BHH several times. Almost like its own little world, it was tough to leave for meetings, shopping or even sightseeing. The staff were always amazing, the Polo Lounge and Fountain Cafe embodied old Hollywood. Loved the pool, and had quite a bit of late night fun in the Polo bar. The prices were always exorbitant, now more than ever it seems. Would I return? Most definitely!
I love the way you review the hotel rooms, flights, and the city you visit.
so good to see your detail when touring this hotel..I can see that in fact it is truly lacking in some maintenance (bathtub, etc) and comfort features (quiet fan, etc), surprised they are not paying very good attention to these important details..
Nice one Tim! What an iconic hotel, love the retro vibes 👍
That was a fun tour of the hotel. A few spaces I'd never seen before. I've stayed several times in the bungalows ( apparently the one Jackie O was fond of ).

The one thing I hated about the Beverly Hills Hotel was when the celebrities were staying there, or the stars came for dinner or brunch or for anything, you automatically become a second-class citizen; it's like your money is not essential, you can't go there because their VIPs I will never go to that hotel ever again.
