This is the best option out there by far for a small lightweight minimal cage for the BMMCC OG or 4K. It really enhances the camera without becoming a burden in trying to be all things to all people. I really despise the other current option in the marketplace. I hope others sign up for this since it is so badly needed.
I don’t have this particular camera, but if I did, this would be a no-brainer. This is such a well thought-out product that clearly enhances the functionality & flexibility of the G1 & G2 cameras. Great work, Alt Cine!

Super cool. On that button though: you need to add a way to lock it out so it can't be accidentally depressed. I can't even imagine the anger if that button is hit mid-shoot and the operator doesn't realize it.
Although this is supposed to be a small studio camera, I love the build out of a "micro" field camera. It seems to have everything it needs, and nothing that it doesn't. 👍👍

I need to see finger clearance when using this on the 4K G2 - does DC the power input or USB-C connector (if a cable is plugged in) get in the way? If so (and the 'grip' is not really usable because of cables on that side) then a more traditional cage with external grip, would be smaller overall.

Really like this setup! Small but you can mount a ton of things on, if you want to build out the rig. I would go with and external monitor of course and maybe a top handle. But I can defiantly see myself putting some rails on there and a follow focus and stuff like that, Haha! 😃
I tried my G2 in an old VersaFrame cage with wooden handles, and the 7 inch monitor fits perfectly over the camera. I liked the results, despite not being very minimal, but for my needs it's ok. Now I'm waiting for the D-Tap cable to 12V to assemble the complete rig with the V-Mount battery FXlion one.

YES! I want the cage for my G2, but I definitely also want those up/down arrow extension prints... it SUXX to find/feel the right buttons all the time... I'd like to see it on a G2, especially how it is in the way with all those cables dangling around...

Want one, but it might be a bit small for my hands. But I might use it as a gaurd for the wires and to hang stuff on the inside of it. and use an old skool handle underneath the camera to hold it.

I think this might be the best solution for the new Micro Studio G2 because it lacks the expansion port, and there aren't a lot of good small solutions for a record handle; however, for the BMMCC I'm not as certain. If one is after a truly tiny rig then this is possible the smallest effective cage I've seen, but given the LANC ability of the OG and the ability to add wireless control easily, I think this would be more situational.
@@AltCine The Lanparte wireless remote lanc with an additional button on the receiver is roughly $60 on eBay. As far as I'm aware it's the only remaining wireless option for the OG Micros, and other lanc based BMD cameras, unless one stumbles upon one of the one little goat remotes with Bluetooth.
Looks great. I intend to get the BMMSC 4K G2 and I would get this 100% if pricing was in line with regular Smallrig pricing, but £90 would be too steep I think. I also would prefer for the rig to get out of the way of the power button rather than one extra additional piece to push it down...
@@AltCine I'd also say that for me, you've designed this the right way around (ie. to the right) a lot of simple base+grip options out there have the handle on the left, but for this camera, it has no grip, so first side handle should be on the right - leaves the left hand for focussing. It also would influence how I'd set the rig up - as it provides a bit of protection to HDMI, USB and power-in, I could keep all my leads on this side. I'd rather use SDI with locking cables etc, but the fact that all three of these ports are somewhat protected by your side-wing would make me lean towards using hdmi for monitoring. If your side-wing was on the other side, it would provide no protection for power and USB. So you've ticked another box there based on the overall design of the camera. If I get a minimal side wing, I definitely want it on this side 👍👍👍 I think people are so unaware of this camera but I actually think it'll become a modern classic. It's so cheap but powerful and really has a form factor that is without rival. The image is up with pretty much any camera up to about £5k and even some much more expensive cameras and has such a versatile form factor. People are so caught up with the latest and greatest, they don't realise that image quality from pretty much any camera is good enough these days, so there are other things that we can now focus on. I'm getting this camera 'cos I know what image it's capable of (I have shot on a P4K for 3.5years) but that form factor means lends itself to so many other use cases - perfect pairing for my fully rigged P4K. BTW, so glad there are people like you out there inventing this stuff! It wasn't that long ago that these needs would just go un-answered °¬)

But I would really like to have this one with an additional and optional left NATO to cover the whole camera so I can have grips on both sides. Like what Tilta FX3 cage can do

If there is a way to get the wing grip, button stickers AND the expansion pack for a g2, sold as a bundle on US Amazon for under $200 total - count me in. $200 limit, as that is the maximum amount I can benefit from the free shipping offernon Amazon, but also not have to pay any import duties to my region.
Fwiw, I have an XLCS cage on my G2 currently, I love many things about it. But I can certainly see a usenfor the wing. It's just a mimor pity that Smallrig is the company making it, meaning no chance of integrated falcam/ulanzi f22/f38 compatible mounts. For rigs of this size, they really are just better.

I think it’s smoking good deal and a natural fit for SmallRig. Even with XLCS cage, this is a great second option to have fora stripped down build. And the G2 is such a great form factor it’s a lock to be around in future - I’m hoping they can squeeze a Super35 in there next round.

What is the display/EVF eyepiece you’re using? Have a BMPCC6KG2, but wanting a B cam, and this looks ideal!

@@ZagatoZee hi mate. We haven't got round to dealing with Amazon yet. Also because the cage is a DreamRig product I doubt it can be sold on Amazon.

Not gonna lie The nato rail clamp/handle limitations are a bit of a deal breaker for me.
