The Ulanzi U-190 Pro addressed your concerns regarding the leveling head and securing the allen wrench. It also allows for flipping the base to a portrait orientation.
Very informative video. You did not provide a link for the video head closet to your right hand. My far left as I am viewing them. Can you please provide it or at the model and make, thank you.
Really nice video. Thanks. I wonder how would the new Tilta travel video head compare to the SmallRig. Also, I find it interesting that you are trying to save every gram possible on the head but you are rocking a V-mount battery with the FX3 instead of a bunch of Sony batteries. :)
Haha .. good point on the battery ... I shoot documentary films with long takes. I prefer a larger battery that powers everything vs changing camera batteries, monitor batteries etc ...
I do own and like NPF batteries too (especially the new versions with USBC PD built in), but find they make my rig front-heavy when attached to the monitor. VMount at the back balances the camera better for hand-holding. But rigging is soooo a personal thing.

U190 does not have leveling head function
@@Kazoom28 The U-190 Pro does.
You didn't mention the other Smallrig model. Also, it would be good to talk about plates, Arca type, proprietary, etc.
It's SmallRig 3457 model (which is my favorite out of the three)

Good luck on the trip Dave!! Have you tried the Falcam F38?? I totally switched to it from Arca and couldn't be happier...
Thanks Paul! I have, but found the plate slips and I just can’t trust them. but it really does depend on the size and weight distribution of your kit.
Have you ever tried adding a leveling base to the tripod heads that don't have one?
Yes! I own several haha! A neewer, manfrotto and acratech (my favourite). When weight isn’t such an issue I use my acratech and a beefier fluid head.

@@dqstudios yeah, powering monitor too makes sense. Those NP-F would be heavy and bulky too otherwise

Did you discuss the ulanzi pro esp with the vertical mode
It wasn’t available at the time I made this video
