    Hi Ellen, my 30ish year old daughter made some soap from her breast milk today. We used your recipe and It turned out nice and creamy. She's so excited and she's looking forward to using it. I love your videos, thank you for all the work you do and sharing your knowledge 🥰

    Thank you for talking about personal use breast milk soap! I think a lot of people don’t realize that some STIs and HIV can be in breast milk, and there’s not enough scientific testing to know if it’s a concern in soap. It’s amazing for mom and family, but breast milk isn’t regulated of course.

    Ellen, I just had a young friend ask me if I made milk soaps. I told her I make goats milk soap. She said she had some older breast milk in the freezer and wondered if I'd be interested in using it for soap. I said of course! ❤ My plan was to make a baby soap with her milk to give back to her. She and her husband have 6 children, the youngest are 1 year old and a new baby boy almost 2 months old. The milk was from her 1 yo. Thank you for sharing this. To me this makes a very intimate soap. Have a wonderful evening and God bless. Mickey 😊

    Thank you so much for your recepie!!! (for all of them!!) You are a pleasure to watch and makes me so inspiring! I made a calamine sope some days ago and turned out as your fisrt batch 😅😅 I would try different fragance... Now I´m really inspired by this! Im breasthfeeding and I would love to make a bar for my children!!
    I have one question. As I can´t get palm oil from a sustancial source I was wondering if i can use the milk in subtitution of water in any soap recepie or if it is better to load your recepie in a soap calc and repleace the palm oil for other oil that gets similar caracteristics. What would you do? I wouldn´t like to wast milk (althought i know that always is a risk it happens). Thank you for your kind addvice :)

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  Рік тому

      Liquids & oils are a very different thing in soap calc. If you don't have palm oil, that would be a different recipe due to the sap value...

    What do you use for the color? I have had so much trouble getting my breastmilk soap to hold color. Or maybe I need to add clay so the color holds? Am I right that you added it to the oils? I've only every put clay in with the lye or at trace.

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  9 днів тому

      I use skin safe micas and clays for colorants. Clays can be light in color..

    Hi Ellen, so I ask a question to fast, you just said we can use water, so it would be be the same 23. Ozs of water. How many pounds is this. I have the tall and skinny 5 or 6 lb mold from heritage.
    Will this recipe be ok in my mold.

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  6 місяців тому

      I'm using the tall double skinny from Workshop Heritage, they have all the specs on their website.

    Ellen if using powder milks do you add to water first if so how much lye? Then

    • @melodymerritt2353
      @melodymerritt2353 Рік тому

      Or do you add to the oils all at once?

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  Рік тому +1

      When I use powder milks, I add them to the oils with the other additives.

    If I used this recipe to make goat milk, can I use goat milk powder? If so, what would the amount of powder be?

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  9 місяців тому +1

      You can follow the directions on the powder milk, and use it as a full milk. Or Add a couple of Tbls of the powder to the oils and blend really well before mixing with the lye solution.

    Alot of people make and market breastmilk soap, there's nothing wrong with marketing it at all. I know everyone has an opinion on it but I'd buy a soap made with breastmilk. Don't know why you wouldn't sell it because by the time it soponifies the human element of the breastmilk is gone it's just the fat properties left.
