There are two types of people in this world: one that makes lists and packs ahead of time and one that packs an hour before they need to leave…and they are usually married to each other 🤪
🤣🤣🤣 so true! I'm scouring UA-cam for tips, I have a packing list and I usually start 3 weeks in advance. My boyfriend packs the night before or the morning of. It works well for him but that would stress me out! I always keep toiletries and medications packed. I usually wait till a few days before to pack makeup that will go well with my outfits. As suggested in this video, I try on everything in advance and swap out anything that doesn't fit well.
LOL! 😂 Exception and lucky girl here!🙋🏼♀️ My hubs and I both make lists (both our lists are saved as Google doc) and pack ahead of time! While we don't pack 2 weeks in advance but a few days for us will do! 😅
This may sound silly, but it makes me feel good every time I watch one of your videos and you say "And I'm really glad that you're here." It's a little dose of sunshine. Thank you for that! ❤️
Oh my! We have so much in common! I’m originally from CA (San Diego - Navy Brat) and now live in Georgia! I still have family in CA, and I love to visit them, but I will never live there, again. So glad I found your videos. I have learned a lot.
Bingeing all your packing tips! I did manage to pare down the makeup I take…that was an easy one for me. Love your tip on trying on clothes…lol…Once I took some pants I hadn’t worn in awhile and lost some weight that I didn’t think about…They were huge on me..never again. Loving the folding clothing rack… Thanks for all the time you take to do these videos!❤
Why am I so obsessed with watching people pack? Lol! Taking your advice and traveling with carry on only on my last couple of trips. It’s working out better than anticipated😁
That's just about what my luggage looks like for a 2 or 3 week trip to Europe. I only take 1 pair of shoes. Yes, I start my packing list WEEKS before the actual trip. And yes, that is definitely the crux of the matter! Thank you for a wonderful channel!
Planning in plenty of time is definitely the way to go. I usually spend the weekend before we're due to travel and get everything packed that I can. I also use a rail and it's been a game changer. I always weigh my bag as I cannot lift any more than 8 kg, travel to London a lot and the stairs in the tube stations can be brutal with a heavy case. Never go without my Uniqlo cream down jacket that folds up into its own bag, it goes with everything. I always wear white trainers in the summer and take a pair of smart sandals to change into if going to a nice place for dinner. I have a smart black rucksack from Marks and Spencer's with a trolley sleeve on it which is very useful and holds lots of stuff. Thanks for the great vlog x
Yes! Couldn’t agree more. We put 90% of all of our travel stuff back into our suitcases. We always make a packing list and just keep it in our phone, then we just adapt it to each trip that we go on. It’s seriously saved us so much time!
Enormously helpful video; I got the planning thing down. This is so important for folks to realize. Leaving for Italy next week after two year wait! You are so together and reasurring.
Haha! At the point where you panned down to show both bags I saw your rug and thought my iPad had suddenly switched to camera mode somehow and was showing the floor of the room I was in! Same rug! As usual, great video. Great advice. I’m now going to check out the Away bags. I’ve been on a search for the best carry on and personal item bag for an upcoming trip to Paris and Italy.
Great video as always, but contact lens solution is sterile in its original container. If you decant it into a smaller bottle, it is no longer sterile and you risk getting an eye infection. I use the travel sized lens solution. It’s more expensive, but I never want another eye infection.
I'm so happy I found your videos I've been traveling all my life every 3 to 6 months from the usa to Europe so seeing that's I'm not the only one with anxiety really helped!! 😅 i feel like I'm not alone in this especially with the tips provided !! Especially long haul flights give me so much anxiety this really helped !
Newport Beach!! so fun! my husband's aunt lives there (on the bay, across the street from the beach. LOOOVE it!) All of your tips are great! Since travelling more this past year, I'm getting better at pairing down and only bringing what I really need. Each time I travel, I rethink my suitcase. Hope you have (are having) a wonderful trip!!)

Thanks Jen. Another great video. I have a similar packing routine but I lay everything out on the bed (no clothes rack). I’d love to see what clothes you took too. I love to see other people’s travel wardrobes as it’s so inspiring.
I love packing videos. Taking the time to plan is so helpful in managing my travel stress. Also, I have a few key clothing pieces that I know I will use. Toad & co makes a maxi dress that I have had for years and was worth every penny. Have a great trip
I am packing for a trip next week and I am flying Spirit. I love the idea of trying on before you go. I do have things laid out and have an idea what I am taking.
I usually read audio books but I always take a physical book on vacations. It forces me to read it and I leave it behind when I'm done to free up space
I’ve had that same Away carry in bag and love it so much! I’m going to order the everywhere bag that looks awesome! Will be perfect for our upcoming Seattle/Portland trip
We have kept a toiletry bag pre-packed for years. When we get home we just start a list if there is anything we know we need to add to it and when ever we are at the store getting other stuff, we will throw whatever we need in and immediately go put it in the toiletry bag. We actually have 3. One for my solo trips, one for hubby's solo work trips and one for our together trips and all three are always packed. We have a shelf in our closet that is our travel accessory shelf. Extra small bottles of whatever, extra toothbrushes, extra extras and we can just grab from that shelf. We also have all our luggage in one place, except for our super big checked luggage for scuba gear, it stays with the gear itself. (even some of that stays prepacked, when we get home from a dive trip we wash and dry our gear and some of it goes back in the luggage). I don't pack early but I do sort of start thinking about things and as I think about them I'll set them aside or make a list to make sure I don't forget them.
I adore both of you channels and your new podcast with Liam. Both of you are just awesome gems! I live on the peninsula in Newport Beach. Not sure when you’re heading here, but if you have a car there’s DELICIOUS vegan Mexican food in Costa Mesa called vegan by el zamorano. Trust me even meat eaters love this place. If you don’t have a car Avila’s el Ranchito, Sanchos tacos and tacos Cancun are awesome and should be walking/biking distance. Enjoy your time here!
I have kept my prescription bottles forever, and about every 2 months I fill them with all my vitamins. When I go on a trip, I just count out how many days I need, and they can fit anywhere because they are so little.
Yes, I need this! :-) I'm going to rewatch all your packing and travel tips-videos for our US trip next year! Thank you for always being so honest and open about everything, I love that! Hi Jen, Loved watching your videos! So good to know that you are also a frequent traveler like I am. Plus, I pack light all the time so tips are so helpful. Though I thought I might also share the best carry-on bag I have been using for a long time now and recommend it to you. It is a bento bag from Nomad Lane. It is the most trusty, functional, and easy-to-carry bag. I have been traveling for work mostly and it is the best bag ever.
Hi why do people who like this bag keep spamming my accounts? Honestly I would NEVER buy this bag simply due to the amount of spam I receive from your marketers. It’s gross.

@@TheMKgal you can always do laundry. There are laundromats everywhere and you can always wash items in the sink. I’ve been up to ten weeks in Europe and the UK with just carryon. It’s so freeing. @@missmayflower No way anyone can convince me to do laundry at a laundromats. We have been on trains in Europe with our big suitcases, while it's not as convenient but it wasn't that horrible. I understand all those points and I'm sure it works for many, but it's not for me.

Do you find the updated small bag to be sufficient for things? I'm considering the medium because I'll be doing some international trips next year. I have the OG bag and there are times it hasn't been big enough.
Do you happen to know the brand/color of bedroom paint on your walls. My husband and I are planning to repaint our bedroom and we both really like your wall color.
What shoes do you recommend for sightseeing in Europe? Looking for a good walking shoe that is not a sneaker or sandal (got those covered). Also, any no show socks that actually stay on?
I just checked and Elta MD’s website lists Amazon and about 8 other websites as their Authorized Online Retailers. Elta MD is currently sold out of my sunscreen, but Amazon does have it.
I am going on a beach holiday for 1 week and was going to take 7 dresses for the evening. Is this too much? If so how many shall I take ? I always over pack 😩
for a 7 night trip, I'm unlikely to take more than 3 dresses for a trip that long. Usually you're not in the dress long if it's just for dinner and bringing pieces that can be styled different ways (a scarf one night, a jacket another night, etc) will help you not feel like you're wearing the same thing. If you want to pack light, wearing things multiple times is definitely a must.
I'm a hater of packing. It's fallen to me to pack everyone when my family was younger. Even when it's my trip, I hate to pack for it. I'm hoping that some of your tips will help me to feel better about it.
The first year we rented here we used VRBO and then started working directly with the property agency for that house, Beachview Realty. Great locally owned company!
I lift it myself with no issues but it’s definitely something to consider if you think that might be a problem. There are usually plenty of people around willing to help!

Do you happen to know the brand/color of bedroom paint on your walls. My husband and I are planning to repaint our bedroom and we both really like your wall color.
Does pre check help when you fly overseas from Detroit to South Africa
Sorry did not listen far enough. We signed up for TSA precheck, but since first time, we are using liquids bags.
Great tips but I am always worried about the weight of my bags? Do you have weight limits in America with carry on luggage? 7kg is usual in Australia.
What shoes do you recommend for sightseeing in Europe? Looking for a good walking shoe that is not a sneaker or sandal (got those covered). Also, any no show socks that actually stay on?
Oh and overpacker over here with a checklist to boot lol
I’m leaving in 2 days for 11 days in Europe. I am checking a bag though-I just couldn’t get my stack down to fit in a carryon 😂
Where did you get the toiletry bag? I am looking for something for my new Away Everyday Bag!
It’s the small toiletry bag from away and I love it!
I'm a hater of packing. It's fallen to me to pack everyone when my family was younger. Even when it's my trip, I hate to pack for it. I'm hoping that some of your tips will help me to feel better about it.
What brand is your toiletry bag?
What size are each of your packing cubes?
Can you share more information about the house rental?
Anna I will once I’m home I promise!
Also, the bum bag?
Jen, how do you book your rental va action homes? Airbnb or do you work with another agency?
The first year we rented here we used VRBO and then started working directly with the property agency for that house, Beachview Realty. Great locally owned company!
Where can you get small perfume
Is the piece of luggage a carry-on?
Yes it is
Do you get laundry detergent in small packets?
I love True Earth Laundry Strips. They are so convenient, no mess. Put a few in a snack size ziplock bag.
Do you lift the away bag up to the luggage storage, or do you need help. I'm concerned it will be too heavy for me to lift.
I lift it myself with no issues but it’s definitely something to consider if you think that might be a problem. There are usually plenty of people around willing to help!
Go to Javier’s! Best Mexican food EVER!!!!!
Where is the link to your toiletry bag?
Oh, yes, try on the clothes. In my pre-pack, I had a dress packed, which turned out to have shrunk. Huh. Go figure. 😂
I'm one of the weird people that loves packing not so much unpacking though
