Thank you _so very much_ for making this video & showing us your gorgeous plants! When I 1st started my plant collecting I was 18 y/o, in my 1st apartment & I'd only _ever_ seen photos of these beauties in books! The Internet was only dial up at that point so, there was never a good size comparison. Sure, you _could_ break out your measuring tape but that's not the same thing. They're so small & delicate irl. You're a gem Sir. *hugs from Canada 🤗💕💕 (and... sub!)
These are native to (and endangered in) my province in Canada! I didn't know you could get them as a houseplant. I had a grouping of them in my forest, but I think the hurricane last fall finished them off.
Only _some_ varieties of lady slippers are here in Canada. There's actually 1 variety of orchid on every continent! (I got books on these little buggers. You know cause the internet wasn't always here. (I'm OLD.😂😂) The common pink lady slipper is in bloom right now, or will be soon! This is a perfect time to go for a nature walk & see if you can collect some photos. They need a "special soil fungus" in order to bloom. They just _LOVE_ Northern light & lots of acid. So, try looking wherever pine trees are. Oh & their leaves are fuzzy. A long time ago, I gathered 3 up from my youngest child's school yard! To save them, I researched & we collected almost 18" of their surrounding dirt. Had to ensure that we got everything they needed to survive & thrive. Brought them home & plopped them in our front yard at the base of a huge pine tree, Northern side. They're _still_ growing there to this very day, although they've sure multiplied. We don't normally take anything from nature. This was just a rescue mission. The poor things were getting trampled to death on the daily. Torn leaves & broken stems, it was so sad. Hope you get to see some in your area. Happy orchid hunting.
So, I picked one of these up from you yesterday and it’s in the little pot with the newspaper like at the front of your table. Can I water it with the newspaper in there??

What do u think of tree fern fibre for repotting
Please advise
What if the roots are growing on the top and crawling out like a spider? That's what mine is doing
Sounds like it’s due for a repot
@@tannertheplanter4213 it is flowering right now. But I will do that when the flowers are gone.
