I’d really like to think that Eric Bauza (his VA) based his voice of the OG pilot Cosmo voice. It honestly seems very likely enough.

Yeah I hope we get more characters returning like Crocker. Kevin. Foop, Anti Cosmo and Wanda. and I know these characters some people don't really like that much but I feel like they kind of deserve to be in it. Chloe Carmichael, Sparky, ... Oh and of course the most beloved main character... Timmy Turner!

Finally, a reboot that actually did good on the original series!
It happens, all you have to do is have a competent creative team take key ideas to their logical followthrough.
I'm so glad that Nick is acknowledging the majority of the franchise pretty well. Seeing Poof (or Peri) all grown up is totally insane. Although I havent seen the reboot, but still its cool to see him again in a fresh new way.

OMG seeing Poof Back All Grown Up warms my heart While we were growing up Poof was Grown Up right along with us Fairly OddParents was one of my favorite shows when I was little they are doing everything right with this reboot I even get the same feeling while watching like when I was little.
The looks and fun personality of cosmo, the intelligence of Wanda and hairstyle of Wanda’s hair but with a tiny touch of cosmo’s spikey hair. And of course, the voice of Eric Bauza! I am thinking of watching FOP: A New Wish once it comes out on paramount plus 😄
Eric Bauza sure recaptured the old voice of Cosmo that Darren Norris used to do!!! He's like the next Mel Blanc.

I literally squealed in excitement when I saw Poof return in Monday’s episode. I heard rumors about his return and was wondering constantly what his new design would look like and I was BLOWN away!
Poof/Peri got snazzy!! I couldn’t help but swoon over him and I rarely do such a thing.
I know some people who still didn’t like Poof even when he was first introduced, but at least respected him more than Sparky and Chloe combined.
They also brought back Mr Crocker and A.J from the original series onto the sequel series.

Why does sudden name change? And I get that his new wand is supposed to resemble his baby rattle from when he was a baby, but now that he's an adult, why doesn't he have a regular wand like the other fairies?
But apart from that, it's great to see him finally come back! But it's going to take awhile for me to get used to the new poof. It seemed like only yesterday when he was only saying those 2 adorable words: "poof poof". 🥰

Well if you want the real world reason Poof is apparently a slur is some countries.
As for the in-universe reason. I think the name change makes sense for the kinda character I think they are going for.
Poof may not have liked their original name and changes it. Perhaps it was a way to seem more mature or grown up or perhaps it was to assert some individuality. Either way it speaks to a person who has changed a lot since their childhood years.
