  • I took a trip up to Lake Tahoe to mountain bike up at Northstar at Tahoe's downhill mtb park on opening weekend. We rode a bunch of trails that Northstar has to offer, such as : Livewire, Gypsy, Boondocks, Coaster, Liftline, Mineshaft, Speed Control, Phodog, and Sticks & Stones. It was fairly dusty, but that is the norm at Northstar.
    I hope you guys enjoyed the video! This was my first ride on my brand new Pivot Firebird! This bike was made for bike parks!!!

    Looking forward to a review from riding the Yeti to the Pivot after you get some more rides under your belt. Been wanting to get a more aggressive trail bike to expand my riding more and have an can do pretty much everything bike. Plus, been thinking about trying some local enduro races next year.

    I never knew that Northstar was a downhill park as well as being a ski resort! I only live like 45 minutes away and I'm totally gonna go when it warms up.

    Have you tried out the Intense Uzzi? if so what are your thoughts? on a Range now and it is super fun but i wanting a little beefier but pedalable bike and the Firebird and uzzi r what i am looking at. Uzzi i can run a coil though.. not that its better just less maintenance for me.. any thoughts on the Uzzi would be helpful.
    tks.

    I have a question, so for these downhill trails or parks do you need a downhill bike to ride them? Just because I would like to know if its ok to take my enduro bike down the trails. (it has 160mm travel in the front and back)

    • @alexthemtbr
      @alexthemtbr  7 років тому

      Nitro Techno yeah of course!! I never ride a DH bike at parks, if anything my enduro bike is more fun on jumps!

      Oh yeah dude, that's plenty. It's all personal preference, I like to run a downhill bike but that's because I'm more confident on one, but if you'd rather ride the bike you're confident on, do that. What's important is how confident you feel your bike can handle the terrain, and a 160 mm travel enduro rig is up to the task for sure.

    Why is your footage so smooth with a gimbal. I have a gimbal and it looks horrible on the Chesty mount. Lots of micro vibrations and serious jitters. Wish I could return it but if you have any suggestions please leave them below on how to stop jitters when using a wearable gimbal

    • @alexthemtbr
      @alexthemtbr  7 років тому

      sunny swag which Gimbal do you have?? Btw. I still haven't found a gimbal that actually works properly. I have to cut out so much footage because the gimbal gets all wonky, hence the helmet cam footage 😂

      Wasd Efgg I do understand that! But In all honestly Im not going to force it. If I feel like talking, I'm more than happy to add commentary. I just want it to come out natural. And unfortunately a lot of times when you are riding "advanced" terrain, you need to be a little more focused than when you are riding more xc stuff

    • @stevendaniels233
      @stevendaniels233 7 років тому

      Ben Anderson yes I've learned that having a magnet near it will make it mess up so like a magnet on a chest strap of a camelback or osprey.
