I never knew about roasting radishes until this summer when Jess at Roots and Refuge Farm did a cooking video. To help people want to buy more maybe provide a few recipe cards by your produce on the sale table. Love your ‘lawn ornament’! 😂 I have 2 male/neutered goats as pets, but they mostly eat weeds to help keep poison ivy off my property from the neighboring woods
I’m one of those people who don’t know how to eat some of the vegetables featured in gardening/farming/homesteading channels. It would help us greatly if some of these channels would actually show how to prepare/cook them, even as simple as roasting or putting them in salads. I see a lot of canning/preserving videos which seems too advanced for beginners like me, but not that many that actually show how they cook the produce they grow & harvest. Congrats on your pregnancy! Wishing you and your family all the best.
I love radishes. Even though I can’t seem grow them for some reason lol. I love the red bulbs and the icicle ones. Big prayers for you and your baby. God bless, Carol
Hi Lauren. Congratulations on the third baby 🍼 My name is Donna Schofield. I found you guys through Jill from Whispering Willow Farm. Looking forward to watching your journey ☺️
New follower from WWF here 🙂 Question... When selling radishes, how do you store them? Do you chop off the leafy tops and the little root tail prior to selling?
Welcome! I’ve done it both ways…with tops still on and without. I’ve heard that they store longer without the tops but I like to keep the tops for aesthetics and bc you can actually cook them! I always store them in the fridge for longer shelf life.
Yes please tell us your radish secrets! I don't mind them in salads but I never have tried them cooked. Do you simply just roast it in the oven? I do love roasted beets and other root veg. I was going to harvest my black radishes but the ground is completely frozen 😅 hoping It will warm up for a day or two so I can attempt to pull them up lol
Yep, just roast in the oven! I like to quarter them, coat in butter or avocado oil, sprinkle with salt, pepper and whatever other seasoning sounds good. Roast for about 20min at 425. About halfway through, through in some freshly minced garlic!
Great video friend. You are rocking that tunnel. We love radishes around here especially roasted like you said. We also love to ferment them.
Haven’t tried fermenting! We love just about anything fermented so I bet we would love these!
So glad I found you from Jill’s farm. Thank you for teaching us!
Thank you for watching!

Love the recipe card idea! I might try that:) yep! He’s an expensive lawn ornament at the moment but I can’t bring myself to get rid of him

Is it too late to plant onion bulbs?
Depends on what zone you’re in. I actually don’t know a ton about onions, though :)
and also most people buy and eat out of a store , I try not I try grow most of my own food its so much better for you
people are sheep and people like me and are wolfs so because we know we need to teach so think about that a little and they will get it at some time
