It's interesting. I have Anthony Quinn's autobiography "The Original Sin" which he wrote with no co-author. In the book, he recounts the beatings that his Father Francesco Quinn[Who died when Anonthy Quinn was eleven years old.] gave him, much like the beatings that his son is recounting. He tells of one incident where he defended his sister by beating up the kids who were bothering her. His Father praised him for defending his sister. Then he took off his belt and said "now I'm going to beat you". The reason for the beating was, that his Father said he basically went too far in beating up the kids. He also tells of a driving incident when his Father told him to take over the wheel and drive, while they were in a model T Ford, and he was scared. His Father died young 1897-1926. From what Danny Quinn is saying, it seems his Father passed the discipline that he got as a child onto his children. I guess Anonthy Quinn thought highly of his Father since he named his son, Francesco after him. I think today Fathers would say I'm never going to do to my kids what my father did to me. But Anthony Quinn was born over one hundred years ago, 1915.

It’s a shame Frankie Quinn never got into movies. His features are very much like his father. It just shows you, these guys are just like us. They are real people and I feel their pain and I can see, Tony Quinn is very old school. I feel his son’s pain and it’s a shame when things like this happen. I have been a big fan of Tony Quinn over the years and he’s a remarkable man. It just goes to show you, we are all human and the things we do and say, can leave residue on the lives of our children.

You can see that Danny Quinn is telling the truth. Francesco knows his brother is telling the truth, but isn't backing him up, which is sad. I respect Anthony Quinn as an actor, but after seeing this for the first time, it saddens me that he was abusive towards his wife and kids. The denial when he's confronted about it and actually laughing about it, tells you the real story.
Typical Mexican father who thought he was the baddest. Remember he was born around 1910, grew up in East Los Angeles in the 20s & 30s & 40s.
How prophetic was Francesco here about life being so short?
It's amazing how much they look like their father. To bad this went on. It's painful how much you love a parent that hurts you. And the end our parents are not goes, they are people just like us. Doing the best we can.
As Al Pacino playing Michael Corleone said in Godfather 3,
"every family has bad memories "!
Nobody ever really knows what goes on in any family unless they lived or grew up in that particular family. Good and bad memories are part of ANY/ALL families.

I’m 76. My father hit me. He slapped me on my face, he knocked my head into my sister’s head. I don’t hold that against him. That was the least of it.

Surprising. None of his 13 children except for Danny complained of him being cruel.
That doesn't mean they don't have their stories. Dan Quinn just chose to take it public. What's wrong with that? It doesn't mean Anthony Quinn is a terrible person. He was human just like everybody else with his flaws .

Francesco is different from his brother Danny, Francesco sticks up for his father. He loves his father. Their mother while still not married to their father got pregnant twice while their father was still married to his first wife. She knew he was a married man but she still was having an affair with AQ. I'm proud of you, Francesco for staying cool. No matter what their father did he loved all his kids. He bought Danny his condo, Danny should shut his mouth not talk too much.
I disagree. Danny is entitled to his truth and he speaks it well. Nothing he said is going to make any difference to people who like his father or change their opinion. Celebrities are notorious for being absent parents.

Spanking IS corporal punishment. It is a physical assault on another person. The only time it is ok is if the child is hitting others. And generally that only happens when the childis being abused, and being hit. All Anthony Quinn had to say is “I’m sorry I hit you. Please forgive me.” Not defend hitting his kid as an ok thing. I was a physically abused child (by my mother) and I know what I’m talking about. Danny is a very compelling person. I believe him. Why would he come forth about such a painful story if it didn’t happen? It’s not just about “bad feelings.” It’s about childhood trauma. You can be honest and still forgive. Good for Danny.

Gli è stata posta la domanda dalla conduttrice, come mai lui abbia sempre sostenuto che suo padre Anthony fosse stato violento con lui. Ma Danny ha negato. Ha negato dicendo che è stata la stampa americana a divulgare una grande falsità. Non posso crederci invece, sentendo questa intervista, che Danny abbia realmente detto a più riprese che suo padre è stato sempre violento, fisicamente, con lui. Ma l'altro giorno l'ha negato. Seems like Danny is the poor little whining boy who cried a lot. Frank seems like he understood his father, but Danny seems like he did things that upset his father and doesn't want to take the blame for upsetting his father. Who knows what happened, but Frankie seems like he had a better relationship with his father. Danny wants to blame his father for everything. Very negative. He didn't have to say anything, but chooses to blow everything out of proportion. He won't take responsibility for anything, playing the victim. Frankie obviously loves his father, where Danny wants to play the victim.
I disagree. I don't see Dan Quinn as playing the victim at all. On the contrary, I admire his courage in coming forward and trying to understand how things worked in his family.

@@Classicsatdusk and what crazy about is that he seems more violent then his brother and father but knows violence and abuse is wrong, it touched me when he said he doesn't want to hurt people and to feel bad about it later, in my last relationship I was abusive to my ex that was a fews years ago and to this day I feel terrible about how I treated and I relate to this man so much, the guilt and shame you feel after doing someone wrong it's unbearable
