While i didn't have to watch the entire video. You made me realize I was skimming over the one thing I was looking for in 36 seconds lol. Thank you for having this video up.
I know this video is 6 years old now, just wanted to say thank you though as the information was brilliant, and means I can now improve my content, which is something I've been wanting to do for so long but never been sure how to do several effects!
Very good tutorial. I have looked at other videos and they talk too fast and dont explain as good as you. You are very calm and take your time so i could absorb all the information i needed to do the keyframes I just didnt understand what i was doing wrong before but now its working a treat. I look forward to having lots of entertainment with vegas doing my family album.Thanksalot.
Thank you Justin 👍👍 I was seriously considering in the last few weeks, whether or not to continue making tutorials on this channel. I haven't uploaded anything for a very long time, due to other things going on in my life. Thanks to your beautiful comment, you have reminded me why I love making tutorials, and have helped me make a final decision. Looking forward to re-booting this channel extremely soon and making new tutorials that don't skip any steps! Cheers 😎😎😎
Yes I am about to do a family album from still photographs that i had animated from myheritage. It is just unbelievable how still photos of family members can move their faces. I had an old faded bw photo of my father with his mother as a baby and it turns the old photo into a high quality colour video. Its just like having a time machine to go back to that time, I was so happy to see him alive as a baby. im still with my jaw dropped. Yes i will look forward to see more tutorials from you soon. just subscribed to you
Just wanted to say thank you for the help iv been trying to do this for awhile now .I have 13 but there pretty much all the same.Just add ons each new one that comes.thank you again
You're a good man and incredibly smart. Anytime I'm trying to get something done in Sony Movie Studio - and can't - I type in the problem, then scan the UA-cam results until one of your videos turns up. Again, thank you for sharing your wisdom. From now on, I'm calling you Obi Zen Kenobi - and I don't even LIKE "Star Wars."
Hey Bro, I really appreciate this in-depth tutorial that you have provided with this Ken Burns effect! I'm going to be doing a lot of video production work with old photographs dealing with the Logan Temple in Utah. Two thumbs up to you for sharing your knowledge! It is a TREMENDOUS help!
GREAT INFO ... I was dragging the windows and making them larger or smaller and even getting rid of ones that were cluttering the screen with no problem at all but I didn't realize that I could drag the windows onto any area of the screen and save it like that ... You have great tutorials ... is there one for splitting the screen with multiple movies?
although a good tutorial, it's not quite what I was looking for. How do I zoom in if I just want to focus on the bottom part of the screen. when you try to zoom in with this, it just does the entire page and won't let me crop just what I want to zoom in on. you guys have any video recommendations for what I am trying to describe?
@TemporalParadox1 ah, thank you! i have spent quite some trying to figure out a way to do this. i will test out the presets, sounds like a great time saver. here's a another quick one for you, after you have set a pan/crop, if you want to quickly delete it, how do you do that? . I have so far been using the drop down menu to delete the last event but with the pan/crop tool there are many "events" within the one sequence so it takes multiple times to get rid of just the one. thx
yes ... i know what you are talking about with resetting the viewer ... i don't think i expressed myself clearly once again ... when you engage the pan/crop tool on a photo and decide it's not what you want ... to undo that pan/crop event is there another way to "erase" the event other than going the top menu and choosing "undo" since there are so many "undos" to 1 event ... hope this makes more sense ... thanks again Dex!
Hi, thanks for the tutorial. I'm having an issue at the moment. I've set my first keyframe zoomed all the way out, and my second keyframe zoomed in slightly, but when I playback the video preview it doesn't zoom at all... Any thoughts?
One other question ... can you choose clips selectively along the timeline and add an event to just those selected clips or must it always be either the entire timeline or the clips to the end sequence?
I am making a very long slideshow in Sony Vegas Pro and I want every photo to have a zoom in/zoom out on every other one. But, it's taking forever to open pan/crop on each photo and setting the keyframes. Is there a way I can save all the keyframe settings for a zoom in and a zoom out then just add that to each photo. I know you can save each keyframe. But I'm talking about saving all the keyframes, then adding those same effects to multiple photos. Thanks.
I understand how to do them individually ... what I was asking ... is there a way to select multiple clips along the timeline ... not the entire timeline or the timeline to the end option ... I've tried several ways to try to selectively choose clips ... for instance ... if there are 20 clips and I want to just put a transition of FX on clips number 5 , 9, 12 and 17 ...
am trying to animate a route line along a large (2000px) map background image, but I don't know how to fix the position of the route line that I want the camera to follow as I pan across the map image. does that make sense? great videos :¬)
@TemporalParadox1 man ive been tryin to figure out how those keyframes worked for a while thnx!. hey howdo you get ur images to fill in the preview screen.. or full screen the pre view?
@TemporalParadox1 ok last question lol what types of special FX r there? like when i make a montage i want it 2 look like a professional edited it do u recommend this or Adobe After Affects? srry 4 all these questions lol
maybe you can assist ... when I use the pan/crop tool I do not get the popout window as you do here ... the pan/crop tool window automatically stays at the top and covers the preview window ... any idea how I can get the window to pop out ... working within the top window frame is much more restrictive ... thanks
I have a checkerboard pattern at 9 seconds and I can figure out why its there, I cannot increase my pan and crop past that point of 9 seconds, any suggestions what to do, I have spent a great deal of time to correct this but no clue.
In your video it zooms in slowly on the flower, when I do the exact same thing you have, its a quick snap zoom in, not smooth and slow. How can I fix this to be a slower smoother zoom in like yours?
What if I am using a laptop and I don't have a mouse with the rolling tool? how can I zoom in or out then? mines is suck on zoom in and I need to zoom out so I can see what I'm doing :(
If you are using Vegas Pro, make sure you have POSITION selected in the bottom left corner of Event Pan/Crop window. If you have it set to MASK, nothing you do will be applied.
even in Movie Studio Platinum 13, is there no way to get rid of the empty background when rotating? the part of the image that should be there still exists, just isn't being used
How do I crop? Say for instance I want to censor an area in the video, but not the entire film... I knew how to do it in Vegas pro 8, but the checkbox isnt there in HD Pro 10.. ? help asap
I keep on getting black bars around my gaming recordings (I record with fraps) Can you fix this using Sony vegas movie studio? Or if not can I fix it with fraps?
i need help...when i do this all the thing does is crop the video, it doesnt actually zoom in like yours. i changed the buttons and it still only crops!
Hi this isn't about zoom but I figured you might know what to do. I have Sony movie studio platinum 12 and when I imported pictures and put them in the timeline, they appeared blurry in the video box or "preview". Is it supposed to look blurry because it's a preview? If no, how do I fix it? Please help.
i play a video game, and in the middle of the clip, i want to zoom in on something someone said. so i duplicated the track, and made the clip above the original, and i tried doing this, but it wouldnt zoom in. help please?
Why can I not move my objectg / video / picture to the edge of the screen? it seems like it is cut off in a square area in the middle? This tool is driving me insane.... why can I not move it to the left without it being vut off by some invisible borders?????
@TemporalParadox1 Hey i need help im getting a HD PVR 2 record my xbox gameplay what should i get? Sony Vegas movie studio platinum production suite standard version? or Sony vegas Movie studio HD 10 platinum standard version? i need 1 that could render vids good and ill need special effects 4 the intro n gameplay plz help
There are many ways to zoom in !!! 1. +/- buttons in bottom right corner 2. Press ~ key next 1 in top left corner of keyboard will shrink/make big tracks 3. On bottom toolbar, press button that has box and magnifying glass. Than draw rectangle over section you want to zoom in on. 4. Use wheel on Mouse
can anyone help me i just want my screen zoomed in for a seccond or so really quick almost if you dont notice it but makes a more epic effect for when something special happends

Make sure to check out my website, where it is easier to search for topics.
I've used your stuff before, you seem to be the main one posting stuff about Movie Studio and not just Vegas
That's why I started this channel.
Not everyone can afford to by Vegas Pro and there are actually more people using Movie Studio.
you changed my life

One other question ... can you choose clips selectively along the timeline and add an event to just those selected clips or must it always be either the entire timeline or the clips to the end sequence?
i love youtube. This helped a lot! THANKS!
I love UA-cam for the same reason !
How can I use this to blur or back out a long rectangle ? I cannot seem to get the right long narrow rectangle using the cookie cutter. Thanks !
I fell asleep 17 times during this tutorial. Content is great but WOW you should be doing kids' story tapes :)

If you are using Vegas Pro, make sure you have POSITION selected in the bottom left corner of Event Pan/Crop window.
If you have it set to MASK, nothing you do will be applied.
