    Can’t forget Rock Run Recreation. Lots of trails and they offer day passes too.

      Agreed, rode both and continue to go back to Rock Run. Seems to be a larger are to ride with lots of trail options.

    I agree wit most of your list other then lost trails that place is to dam small for how much they charge. And I would have swapped it for rock run. But great video.

    You are missing Rock Run and Ben Franklin Range, both better than half of your list. Every bit as good as AOAA

      Yes, Rock Run was a toss up between that and Mt Ridge. BFR is limited opened days as well, but we will make it there soon for a full episode! Thanks for watching!

      Its a great beginner area, and yes, riding from camp is great! We have ridden in the rzr trail and grizzly and enjoy it! Hope to be back out again this year to ride there and maybe camp nearby too!

    Great video man last I checked as long as you’re a member with famous Redding outdoors. You can go down to Minersville seven days a week now.

      Cool, thanks. Yes, that's great and I heard they improved the trail, but have to ride the new one myself this year.

    I've been riding Famous Reading for 15 years. I payed for permits well before it was ever enforced or really required just to support the place. And I've been continuously watching it be DESTROYED. Every year there's less and less.
    I went to darkwater the other week, used to be my favorite trail system.
    There's nothing left. It's destroyed.
    I officially removed my membership renewal.
    Every time I go my heart breaks.
    And a side note, I rode AOAA before it even existed.
    Was also my favorite place. Reading and AOAA were one in the same, they all connected.
    It was a further division with more rules and regulations.
    Smaller and smaller.

      Yeah, it’s sad. I’ve only been there three years and it’s less than less land than less and less quality riding. I know people who don’t care if there’s stumps or not, but I find it to be a bit annoying but probably your whole description. There may be my next episode at the end of the summer we will see.

      @TheBeatenTrail if people knew what it really used to be they wouldn't even sign up.
      The trails used to be beautiful everywhere. Now there's nothing but stumps and nuked fields.

    Great list! You gotta get to ben franklin range. Small park, limited time open, but packs a big punch for a little place.

      @@TheBeatenTrail Gassed up and drove the whole way there and it's closed. Closed April1st until May 24th. Some of it , hopefully not all of it is closed for logging since April 2020 also. I spent thousands on this atv and I can't even ride it yet except circles in the yard.

    AoAA is a tad bit rockier than famous reading outdoors in my opinion and once you know Aoaa trails , you can pretty much explore everything in one day. Sure it has some better perks than readin outdoors but if reading outdoors allow camping for members they would be number one, and the day passes ! mines and Meadows looks the best honestly just small in a 4 Hour Dr. from where I am in York

    • @TheBeatenTrail
      @TheBeatenTrail  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes, all the same mountains, but some sharp rocks all over the state. FRO had been talking camping for years, so who knows why it never happened.

    • @RamsayboltonSnow
      @RamsayboltonSnow 2 місяці тому

      @@TheBeatenTrail maybe cuz aoaa is more concentrated trails I come along more rocky sections. FRO Is more spread out so I think there is more sections to go fast also. I didn’t kno about trailhead campground. But it says online u can’t check In Saturday morning that’s when I would have to get there So dumb. It’s always somthin

      thanks, appreciated. I know its not the same as everyone's list, but some other places are more no-day pass riding areas, or limited operating days, so hard to add them all without adding ALL of PA trails. lol

    Aoaa is my Favorite

    • @TheBeatenTrail
      @TheBeatenTrail  2 місяці тому

      Overall, ours as well. Just hard to pick a best one - size, convenience, day passes, overall trail listing, mass appeal, wide open (FRO) lands, and more.

    No Rock Run? Seems to be at least top 3 to me?!?!

    • @TheBeatenTrail
      @TheBeatenTrail  2 місяці тому

      Hard to get all in there, Rock Run and Mr Ridge were tied...like them both. Can't have all on the list without including all of PA then its a top ten list with all areas included. lol

  • @pauln624

    FAMOUS READING not many people know about because NO DAY PASSES, for people in NJ and NY looking to go won't pay the season fee because its to far to get to consistently for the price. Kinda makes no sense when you have a limited customer base as it is and lower it by letting LESS people have access. Bad business model I think.

    • @TheBeatenTrail
      @TheBeatenTrail  2 місяці тому

      Sadly, the "no day pass" is a deal breaker for people. I know most people say no big deal to $200/yr, but some only ride 3x here and there, so I can see their point. Smaller land masses, more being taken away and the trees are being lumbered.

    • @pauln624
      @pauln624 2 місяці тому

      @@TheBeatenTrail I get your point as well but for me and my wife with SXS and 2 kids with ATV I would have to pay $600 to maybe go 3x a year. If I go to AOAA, lost trails and maybe another place or 2 I have to pay there as well. Just becomes to $$ for a few trips to each of these places. I'm in NJ so for us that now includes hotels and travel. Should have maybe a weekend or two a year that is open to day pass.

    • @TheBeatenTrail
      @TheBeatenTrail  2 місяці тому

      Certainly isn't cheap. What size SXS do you have? You could ride Whiskey Springs, Bloody Skillet if you're 64" between april-sept and ride the ATV connector trail in potter and surrounding counties in PA for $40 for the year (DCNR is $20 for 2 year reg) and all you'd have to pay for is fuel and get a hotel (or RV in certain areas, too.) It would be cheaper than AOAA or FRO memberships, but depends what you're riding.

      @@TheBeatenTrail 64in, thanks I will look into that for sure. Its 4hr ride but long weekend trip. Thanks.
