To be fair though, I also would've expected the New Republic to take a few minutes out of their day to help out a few kids who are apparently stranded. But nope, they were wholly uninterested (or didn't notice them). Like seriously, wtf guys? 😂
Definitely relate to KB's struggle. Most of your friends and family will accommodate for illness or disability, but it stinks always having to ask even as an adult. Sometimes, it seems easier to keep quiet. which can lead to problems like KB's. Kid show or not, I felt it.

I got the Onyx way back when it was first released in August, I actually kinda forgot about this show, then it came on and I was like, hey, that's a neat ship, wonder if there is a Lego set, and lo and behold there was, and I already had it, yay....
Subtle point i wanted to point out that i appreciated: During the KB / Wim scene where KB walks Wim through how to save her life and perform the maintenance on her augs, i really appreciated the writing / performance for KB to be calm and collected. Shes had her augmentations her whole life, she knows how to take care of herself, shes comfortable with her condition. She wouldnt panic or freak out, especially with someone else around her - if you show panic about your own condition, it doubly panics the person you need to help you. Really realistic imo, as someone with hemophilia. And on the same note, incredibly well written and performed scene when KB tells Wim why shes so afraid to tell Fern shes different, and cant do certain things, cause she'll end up with zero friends again. That... Really hit.
I didn't know what her condition was, so I thought if it was for autism then she might have a freak-out if her routine was disrupted too long. I think they've been gone less than a week, so how often does her equipment need maintenance?
this is just what great television should be. stories that develop the characters throughout the different adventures gradually. star wars should do more of this more often with their live action shows, maybe even go more than 8 episodes for more good television
I still remember watching Star Wars before it was a New Hope, the feeling I had right out of the theater, the sense of adventure and entertainment, The Skeleton Crew brings back those feelings.
Dallas Bryce Howard baby. She knows what she's doing. That trash machine escape was insane! Honestly, this feels like a Hero's origin story. Absolutely loving how they are slowly growing into a team.
How great is it that we’re all getting up early on Christmas Day and New Years Day to watch Star Wars? …and Star Wars of such a high quality that we’re complaining that it was “too short”. This show has brought back the magic that’s been missing for so long. Personally, I’m loving it and I think its creators and cast deserve a lot of credit and thanks for making us so hungry for more. ‘Hunger’ was a theme in this episode, remember. ‘Never getting enough’.. Brilliant
If they had released _Solo: A Star Wars Story_ at Christmas instead of May maybe it would have done better. Instead people p.o.'d about the December movie decided not to see it, or see it only once. And who knows how many families didn't show up, who might have if it was out in December? Also, they said Ron Howard reshot 70% to return it to the script. But if the script was no good, maybe the other guys were right to make it a more humorous romp? Did they audience-test both versions?
The show had me slowly tearing up. Just because the kid's interactions were like mine with my friends when I grew up with and the movies we watched. I'm not trying to be melodramatic here, it's just this show connects with us Millennials who grew up with movies in the 1980s and 1990s and they felt like this. I have a lot of criticism's of most of Disney's recent Star Wars but I guess the Disney brass forgot this one because they left it alone (it seems) and it's just wholesome.
If you really got emotional over this show then you are easily manipulated by very weak and low effort attempts to tug at your heart strings. I'm not trying to be insulting but usually when you get your heart strings tugged on it's built up for a while and there's some serious emotion and good acting behind it. this was like a 10-second manufactured moment it's just not authentic at all and acting wasn't even good enough to make me feel anything. I cry from every single scene with a father and son ever so 6ots definitely not me😂
@@Darthdoodoo let that empathy go unchecked and you end up mirroring everyone else's emotions all day. still, some emotional triggers can't be helped and then enjoyed. it doesn't have to be clever manipulation eh
That was another nice episode. 8/10 The problem with this short episode format is that either the character development suffers, but the plot progresses, or the characters have time to develop, in which case the plot suffers. Other series in this short-episode format usually have 15 or over 20 episodes. Then, you can have both. But it becomes challenging with eight episodes that are about 30 minutes long. In this episode, the kids continued to develop as a crew or team, which was essential and nice to see. Jod's storyline was also entertaining. Both story arcs had good progression and suitable cliffhangers, so you look forward to the next episode. I didn't realise until this episode that Jaleel White, aka Steve Urkel, was in it.
Maybe they're keeping it short to save money? Kids can't be on set too long, so that means the more you need to film the more days you have to show up.
As you said, the best thing about this is how intelligent the writing is. Im so impressed at how well realised each of the crew is. And the actors carry it well.
I liked how they depicted a disabled person. It's so annoying when a fantasy setting shoehorns a realistic disability for "representation" purposes or something. Example: Spiderverse 2's wheel chair Spider-Man was silly pandering. The cyborg implants in this show takes the IDEA of a disability instead of just copy pasting one from our world. Fictional worlds should have fictional solutions to problems that make sense to their settings.
I don't get to see your polls in my feed, so I'll say it here. Thanks to your reviews I got myself D+ again to watch this. 3 eps in and I'm having a blast. Thanks for doing what you do.
I really enjoyed this episode. Unlike episode 4 this was a better stopgap episode and made me want a Black Sails SW show. This show has been a lot of fun and I actually want to get the whole wave of figures now. I got Brutus cause he looks cool regardless, but after last week's episode I wanted Jod and with this episode I want the figures if the kids. Like I love that as I get more into the show I want the figures and the other rando pirates. It's like when I was a kid and wanted figures of cool looking aliens.
This is another great episode. Like most of the rest of us, I'm So pleasantly surprised but still a little shocked at how good Skeleton Crew really is. I'm just going to say it, dammit - I love these kids!
Knew KB saw the route back to At Attin. Bummed about her bionic parts though, like back of her head resembling a transistor radio battery pack (It won't fit- did they ever after you took them out?) 😮
Happy New Year to you as well. I think I heard Gunter say to grab the droid before the pirates left Lanupa. Guess it could have had a longer running time. The show has just been so much fun that the episodes seem to fly by as is.
Jod Na Nawood hunger speech, imo has some major foreshadowing. Hunger can also be a sign of emotional emptiness and combine that with a person with great power? A dark path I see.
The Pirates specifically said "take the droid" and you see him being carried off so they have him somewhere. Big "reveal" with the ship though, that was an eye opener! The Pirates had added so much external armour plating (ablative armour) that they clearly had to add additional thrusters to the front. Now it's nearer to it's original design
One of the lesser episodes but I can see why it can be good and it is good. Plot was a little lacking here other than the Jod scenes. The kid scenes were at first slow, but I slowely realized how important they are. And I actually really liked the KB scene and the reveal at the end was interesting
I think I liked this episode because, while people keep saying it was short and not much happened, I think a heck of a lot of stuff happened. The lessons all the kids have learned so far came full circle, they put their heads together and attempted to us what few skills they’ve learned in order to escape. They were confronted with death multiple times. Jod’s full mastery of manipulation was on display. He sang a freaking space-shanty that alludes to the entire plot. Perhaps it wasn’t quite as linear as some of the other episodes, but to me that made it more eventful and less predictable without knowing the general goal for where they were going other than “get back to the ship.” I really didn’t know how they were going to get back and while I think Neel and Fern getting there was a little rushed, I like that it kept me guessing and that I felt the kid’s hopelessness Also exploring KB and her cyborgness gives us insight into what life is like for humanoids in the galaxy with cybernetics. Yeah we have lots of characters with them, and they’re either used basically as computers or just character designs. With Vader and Greivious we get “more machine rather than man” But with KB, we get a child who’s had to come to terms with having her live sometimes hang in the balance because of her machinery, and that’s pretty heavy. Also the big red button came back, it was so great. I found this episode the most fun and exciting so far, it only loses points for being short and for taking out 33 😢
i really liked this episode also. The character development is really impressive! most shows with kids don't know how to write for them correctly. This show is making them feel like kids, dealing with kid problems, but also showing their personal growth and maturity as the show goes on. I was worried initially when they announced a star wars show with kids as the focus. But when you have good kid actors, good writing and a good story, this has become one of my favorite Star Wars shows ever! Andor is my favorite, but this is easily my second favorite series made thus far. Mandalorian season 1 and 2 are good, but much more filler and like a side quest of the week for my liking. The writing for The Mandalorian is very simple, and the story is simple also. However, The Mandalorian does feel like star wars should and that is why it is my third favorite series made so far (even after season 3)
@ I know!! This actually captures what it’s like to be a kid. I think we grow up and forget that kids think they’re grown. Some of them grow up too fast. Some of them are scared of growing up in the first place. But kids (while yes they have fears) are also not scared of so many things. All the things I couldn’t imagine doing now that I had no qualms about at 8 years old, running barefoot through the woods, flipping off a diving board, climbing literally everything… kids think they rule the world. They don’t always realize how young they are. They don’t have he scope of seeing what years and years of experience beyond childhood is like. But that doesn’t mean they’re stupid, or don’t know what death is, or can’t have realistic and mature approaches to certain problems. I mean heck I was probably more responsible and on top of things at 10 years old than I am now Also, I coach youth cheerleading and Jod trying to get the kids the pay attention in the hotel room is something I felt in my soul. It’s so rare that writers write kids in a way that you can both tell they actually remember what it’s like to be 10 years old, and that they have kids or no what it’s like to interact with them as well.
This was a more engaging character development episode than episode 4, but of course it's a Disney+ show so it's not surprising that it was so short. I liked it but I wish it had maybe 5 to 10 more minutes.
1:08 Yeah that was what I was thinking. When I first saw KB in promotional material I thought, jeez is she a cyborg because of some sort of tragic accident. But then when I watched the trailer and saw her visor go down, I thought, oh no the visor is probably just some gear she wears or something. Then this episode comes along and was like, oh no, your first idea was correct. So that was interesting.
I disagree with you on this episode, Thor. This was by far the best episode. I've been waiting for some character development and emotional connection to these characters for a long time and the whole KB story finally did that for me. I'm never disappointed when I "just" get character development. On the contrary, I'm always disappointed when I just get action.
I think the ship not having all that extra armour plating might be an issue when they try to get back to At-Attin. Tec Reynard must of had it fitted for a reason.
The recording specifically said that the extra armor was part of his prep to go there, so it’s likely due to Chekov’s School Cannon, or maybe the barrier is corrosive and not just a hologram. Either way, it explains why none of the pirates recognized the ship despite knowing its name.
This is a great show, I had such little hopes going in, but still went in completely open-minded, and that has been rewarded. There’s no way Kathleen Kennedy had any hand in this, it’s too much like old Star Wars. Characters facing actual peril, failing, learning and growing. I guess it took using actual kids to get that same sort of feel the original Star Wars cast had, like genuine wonder and growing friendships as they experience adventure together. Can’t wait to see where it goes from here, and I hope more people start watching.
The track record generally seems to indicate that she doesn’t get too involved in stuff without established characters so those movies and tv shows are usually better.
@@da-vidcargill4975There’s a difference between Kennedy giving the green light as the studio boss and when she takes a personal hand in a project. Key examples are Andor (green light only) and The Acolyte (direct involvement). The best projects so far have been the ones that she did not personally get involved with.
Yeah there's no way Kathleen Kennedy had a hand in Space Goonies with Favreau/Filoni's conception of the SW universe where space-travel is akin to 15th-century sailing where, instead of using hyperspace, you just float through space until someone in the vastness of the void stumbles upon you. This show is trash. - the 64% not watching
It's missing a key to what it's all about since it usually ends the story once the key has opened pandora's box. The reason behind the war between the Independent systems and the republic was lack of development.
I really loved the way they all showed not only character growth but also how much they have learned about helping each other. They have come far from where they began. I’m so proud of each of them.
Funny, but I felt they didn't gel in the first couple episodes, and might have been better had they been a group or team previously. But I can see that getting them to work together and appreciate one another was what they wanted to do.
I feel more and more that this show and Andor is the perfect star wars series duo!! I enjoy feel good films from the 80's and that was exactly how I found the original trilogy in the first place! This episode is pure Star Wars and I'm excited to share this show with my lil brother once he's a bit older!!🙌🙌
Those are elements of SW, but I wouldn’t say they’re key elements. Even by its own internal lore Jedi are an extreme minority in the SW Galaxy who try to avoid adventure.
@@donkeysaurusrex7881 The Jedi..."Space Wizards and laser swords" are the things that make it unique from every other Sci-Fi... so yes they are the key elements to star wars
At the end of episode 5, they finally put the adult, Jod, in charge of the ship. This episode they promptly mess that up and we get to see the kids suddenly knowing how to handle a spaceship on their own. Just what I did not want to see.
I wanted them to get some training on running the ship during hyperspace. Hyperspace is like the lifts in _Star Trek:_ it takes as long to get there as the plot requires. In the Radio Drama, Luke gets lightsaber training for a whole day, not just the little session we saw in the movie. He also got some lightsaber training by Yoda in the week or two he was on Dagobah (again time was vague), but that was cut in the movie. You see him cutting a bar into multiple pieces in the comic book.
Seeing her listed as director always gets my attention. She does spectacle damn well, and here we see she can get great performances out of child actors. Lady’s got skills.
Oh, look! Directed by Bryce Dallas Howard. A female director with a lot of experience in the universe. I wish Lucasfilm would get her on a movie about a female character that needs a lot of TLC, instead of a random female documentary maker. Seriously if KK wanted to gain a little good will she should write her a check now to helm Ray movie. If it gets made.
The “life lessons” and morals in this are leagues ahead of Acolyte I’ve said it before here but I’ll say it again: HOW did Disney have much more faith in the Acolyte over this???
What was the morale of the acolyte anyway? Join the bad guys becuz the good guys did a reasonable mistake? Man what a bs show that was. I just don't get why we can't have a good jedi oriented story.
Wtf are you talking about. Very very sweet episode. You realize character development IS PLOT development. This was the most relatable episode. Wonderful show with another episode that makes us LOVE these characters
One question I heard, was whether the New Republic would get involved in At Attin? The kids will return and the upcoming pirates will either attack, invade or do a sneak-heist. I thought we could have the original characters show up as de-aged and digital like Tarkin: Han Solo is now Leia's consort and security chief. In the comics he crossed paths with Crimson Jack, who stole his reward for rescuing Leia. Chewie is still with him. Luke is trying to solve big conflicts in the Republic as well as looking for Force-users, so will have something to offer or say about Jod's future possibilities. And Leia is either a Senator again or high official so can represent the New Republic to the leaders of At Attin, and would be the one advocate for Jod, if he does redeem himself by helping the kids in the present.
I agree with you, pretty much. It was a good episode, but too short. The fate of SM-33 is one the things that could have been addressed if there was a longer run time. I did like it, though. The kids are interesting characters. And I feel like we learned as much about Fern as KB in this episode. Fern had everything going her way until the reversal in episode five. In this one we learn how she deals with it when the odds are against her, and she did pretty well. Fern needs to work on listening to others, but her ideas were good, and she did know how to help Neel when he couldn't go any further. Poor KB was in trouble, but was afraid to admit that to her friend. It must be really scary being on an adventure like that when you know you need a little more help than the others just to get by. But she compensates by being smarter than the others, with her mechanically enhanced brain.
This bridge episode was peak Disney from the 90's. So sweet Red Bull wants in on the action. I see nothing wrong with the life lessons. Kids might learn something and adults will be reminded to the times they learned (hopefully) . Of course some will find it preachy and/or woke but this is indeed a kid's show AND a Disney show, you ain't going to get a Game of Thrones no matter what. Just a bit short, they should really try to work on the balance. Give us extra 5 minutes of SM-33 vs pirates, or pirates vs X-wing or even kids vs techno crabs. PS : As a dad who's going to sponsor my kid's lego collection. The Onyx Cinder "This is getting out of hand, now there are two of them!"
I hate that the show refuses to let Whim make the correct choice even once. Sure, his route saved KB, but it didn’t get them passage to the ship which was the decision that he was making. Eventually you’d think he’d accidentally make a good call at least.
Yeah, I honestly am not getting the absolute love for this show. That's not to say that it's terrible, it's just ok. And the constant letting Fern off for everything? Even when she's wrong she's "amazing"? Everyone's saying there's all of this character growth, but actually we're just seeing Neel and KB's perspectives- sometimes- while they keep Wim as the hopeful, childish one who's known for his mistakes, and Fern is awesome no matter what. That's not character growth
Pretty sure the outer hull was not shielding but just there to disguise the original storied ship, which is why the kids were told to never press the button (since doing so would reveal the ships true make/identity)
primarily I think you're right , it's camouflage . but the outer hull did seem pretty "chonky" so I'm sure it'd serve a secondary purpose as ablative armor when deflector shields are actually down. Take a few hits that would ordinarily be catastrophic.
Sounds like a question I had regarding deflector shields: X-Wings can get blown up by blaster fire, but they seem to be tougher than Tie-Fighters while also being able to go through hyperspace by themselves. (I thought some of the fighters in _Return of the Jedi_ should have been launched after they got to Endor.) So I guess an alternative to deflector shields is physical armor, which makes sense, especially if the ship was from 100-200 years earlier.
I give all the StarWars a go - it's tough making good creations - tougher still with the weight of one of the biggest fiction legacies on the shoulders - tougher more with corporate blasting in the bleeding ears. I imagine that a workplace nightmare more is more horror descriptive. So in that - I think it's a near miracle when StarWars can make something decent. I like this one. People bang on about Lucas and Spielberg - the parallel to them that made a 'great normalcy' of the time was the great Jim Henson. His influence on the world was wholesome, fun, funny, magical even - and light-hearted. Talk about butterfly effect - guy had a fleet. My point - Henson was responsible for the best peer-pressure in Hollywood history.
This is why I love star wars Any genre, for any person can make this universe work. I loved Acolyte as the cheesy epic, and I love Andor as it's serious dark politically driven show, or rebels and found family, or skeleton crew a group of kids trying to survive. Star wars is best when it just have fun
Jod is certainly CHArisma based character. This stat was off the charts in his speech... And KB was great. Finally, Wim actually saving someone. GJ, Jedi! Also, ship shedding its "extra armored shell" was great.
I got over 2hrs of character fun and adventure in the 25 minutes so I am good! Bryce Dallas Howard can direct all the Star Wars she wants to in my book … the Force is strong with her for me!
This was a crucial episode in that it was the first one where the kids had to handle business on their own. No Jod to help them. They had to band together to figure it out. That was the story. It was definitely sparse in that it coulda used more Jod, but I thought the story sorta revealed itself beyond character moments.
Hey Thor, we did see the pirate. If you pause the episode you can see frames where he appears. He's the same species as Hondo - but I don't think it's him.
I took Fern a little bit differently this episode than the take presented here, but mostly tracking in the same way. KB tells Wim that Fern hasn't been exactly considerate of her capabilities since KB's augmentations. Yes she does show KB some concern in their little talk before splitting up, but it's not really clicking for her yet. When Neel was like "I physically can't keep up with you!" she had her big moment of introspection and then it finally clicked, it only took two people having similar complaints back to back and getting into a bickering match that she realized how she had been acting. Yes I know KB didn't exactly voice her concerns directly to Fern but I think she was able to piece together what KB meant after what Neel said by looking at the context, she literally just had to reset KB so she could move. Neel's words were that epiphany or realization she needed to have. I wouldn't be surprised if she stops being so uh, bossy? She's been kind of a punk since the show started so maybe we see some different behavior from her in the last two. That whole subplot was a nice way to get in a message about people's disabilities and empathy towards others. It wasn't so heavy handed like some other instances of messaging within SW, so I give the writing team credit for subtlety. Hell they've been doing a phenomenal job, every little detail & moment they've included has had some kind of purpose that pays off later. I don't recall seeing anything truly pointless in this show that's there just because it was cool or whatever. I wanna know how Fern got that rope tied around her & Neel when they were both hanging off a ladder like 300ft in the air. I'd imagine that wasn't easy. Also why does this resort spa have a landfill right at the base of the mountain it's on? Wouldn't they want to keep that stuff like off to the side & out of sight of their ultra elite clientele? Sorry but I dig into little things like that all the time no matter what I'm watching. Episode was too short, these things all need to be around the 45 min mark at a minimum. I see 34 minutes runtime and I'm like great so this is a 20 minute episode. Can we at least get to the point that the actual meat of the show lasts a full half an hour? It's like the old network TV shows are all usually 22 min in a 30min time slot, but we don't have to abide by network time slots now. I understand that we have to have our recap, intro, and close to 10min of credits, but don't take that into consideration for the length of the actual episode. Edit: Oh yeah. Did you catch the Porsche collaboration starship on the spa's landing pad while the pirates were fleeing the X-Wings? That was a nice touch.
The Pirates dragged SM-33 onto their ship after they shot him. I assume they took him with them. Also, he has the coordinates downloaded to At Attin so they're gonna use him next episode for sure.
Would have been cool (correct me if I’m wrong) to see if they could have linked this to the sequel trilogy. Instead of visiting the owl who knows everything could have visited Maz Kanata. Maybe jod could have been the reason she ended up with the skywalker saber? I don’t know. Maybe they coulda went to cloud city early on and wim finds the saber in a trash shoot and then loses it in maz castle

The moment I saw the ship transformation my thoughts were: "There goes your Lego..." 😁
Subtle point i wanted to point out that i appreciated:
During the KB / Wim scene where KB walks Wim through how to save her life and perform the maintenance on her augs, i really appreciated the writing / performance for KB to be calm and collected.
@sandal_thong8631 I'm sorry.... What?
this is just what great television should be. stories that develop the characters throughout the different adventures gradually. star wars should do more of this more often with their live action shows, maybe even go more than 8 episodes for more good television
I came to say the same thing!
The hull detonation charges made me go “Whoa” and rewind it. And the giant crab is a puppet by legend Phil Tippet, not CGI, which was pretty awesome.
I loved this episode. From the whole character development to the "reveal" at the end I loved it.
Brilliant
It’s like they intentionally made it short just to make those jokes😂😂😂. So good.
Love how this show is a premise that no one has ever thought of for Star Wars and it proves the initial critics wrong.
You should look up stockholm syndrome.
KB’s augments are by her Cerebellum (which controls your muscle control, balance, and movement). Thought that was an interesting detail.
It definitely had some Fi Fi moments. Tugged at the old heart strings.
Same! Much stronger episode than its getting credit for
💯 agreed. I'm a 54 year old dude who LOVE these types of episodes.
The pirates did say to take SM-33 after capturing Jod.
bring the droid, load him on the ship . it amazes me how many creators missed that
That was another nice episode. 8/10
The problem with this short episode format is that either the character development suffers, but the plot progresses, or the characters have time to develop, in which case the plot suffers.
I recognized Jaleel White on his first appearance. Still hoping they slip in a “Did I do that?” line for him.
Maybe they're keeping it short to save money? Kids can't be on set too long, so that means the more you need to film the more days you have to show up.
This was a great "feel good" episode. I really liked it!
Happy New Year!!
Agreed and same
As you said, the best thing about this is how intelligent the writing is.
I think on Fandom it said that Lando Calrissian's aid, Lobot, has implants due to an accident, too.
I honestly didn’t notice it was so short because it was so cool! Cried when she called Wim a Jedi!
Bummed about her bionic parts though, like back of her head resembling a transistor radio battery pack (It won't fit- did they ever after you took them out?) 😮
That must be what breaks down and uses so much energy. The panel inserts into the space between worlds instead of taking over KB’s throat. 😂
Not a fan how they made nanotechnology into world war tech.
Sounds like someone didn't learn skull and brain anatomy.
Happy New Year to you as well. I think I heard Gunter say to grab the droid before the pirates left Lanupa. Guess it could have had a longer running time. The show has just been so much fun that the episodes seem to fly by as is.
yep he did.
Jod Na Nawood hunger speech, imo has some major foreshadowing. Hunger can also be a sign of emotional emptiness and combine that with a person with great power? A dark path I see.
There was a shot of the pirates carrying off 33 and Gunter yelling "Bring the droid!" when the Xwings attack so he's on the pirate ship somewhere.
The pirates grabbed 33 when they retreated
They showed the pirates dragging of SM33 with jod
Yah, I think Urkel Pirate said "grab the droid"...
Perhaps it wasn’t quite as linear as some of the other episodes, but to me that made it more eventful and less predictable without knowing the general goal for where they were going other than “get back to the ship.” I really didn’t know how they were going to get back and while I think Neel and Fern getting there was a little rushed, I like that it kept me guessing and that I felt the kid’s hopelessness
Also exploring KB and her cyborgness gives us insight into what life is like for humanoids in the galaxy with cybernetics. Yeah we have lots of characters with them, and they’re either used basically as computers or just character designs. With Vader and Greivious we get “more machine rather than man”
But with KB, we get a child who’s had to come to terms with having her live sometimes hang in the balance because of her machinery, and that’s pretty heavy.
I mean heck I was probably more responsible and on top of things at 10 years old than I am now
Also, I coach youth cheerleading and Jod trying to get the kids the pay attention in the hotel room is something I felt in my soul. It’s so rare that writers write kids in a way that you can both tell they actually remember what it’s like to be 10 years old, and that they have kids or no what it’s like to interact with them as well.
Happy New Year, Thor.
I thought it had to do with autism; and the visor is so she can look people in the eyes.
Very good episode. When the Xwings showed up, Gunter tells them 'bring the Droid '.
Somehow I think KB will remember Kh'ymm's words and contact her for assistance bringing the Xwings to their aide.
I agree, I think Star Wars brass got fed up with Star Wars and left this show alone from interference which might be why it works well.
Kennedy still had to greenlight it so quiet down
The track record generally seems to indicate that she doesn’t get too involved in stuff without established characters so those movies and tv shows are usually better.
This episode slightly disappointed me. I wish it pushed the plot further especially since we only have 2 left
I wouldn’t put this in the same galaxy and Andor. I don’t think it’s a bad show but it’s no where near that, even on its own terms.
except they're both missing the key elements of Star Wars... Space Wizards and Laser Swords... but yeah... perfect.......
Agree. Skeleton Crew is okay at best, and it could ruin itself before the season is over. Nowhere near as good as Andor season one.
KB is calling Kim the Owl
I love the location and set. New creatures, all within the Star Wars genre. Original, yet familiar.
I love the character development on the show, very heart-warming
When the ship separated it was just bad ass and for me original . Total fun if you have kids watch it .
When KB calls Wim a jedi after saving her......😭
At the end of episode 5, they finally put the adult, Jod, in charge of the ship. This episode they promptly mess that up and we get to see the kids suddenly knowing how to handle a spaceship on their own. Just what I did not want to see.
I believe kb is more droid than human… so for her to know the way around the ship after a few I don’t know weeks seems ok
Directed by Bryce Dallas Howard so good for her. Wish she was acting more still.
Seeing her listed as director always gets my attention. She does spectacle damn well, and here we see she can get great performances out of child actors. Lady’s got skills.
if this was a falloni series we would see the one x wing pilot in the galaxy. Faloni has a knack at making a galaxy feel smaller than Omaha.
I'm a jaded GenXer... and I absolutely loved this episode!
Im really getting to love these kids. Is it space Goonies? Yes. But it’s a pretty good space Goonies.
The “life lessons” and morals in this are leagues ahead of Acolyte
I’ve said it before here but I’ll say it again: HOW did Disney have much more faith in the Acolyte over this???
What was the morale of the acolyte anyway? Join the bad guys becuz the good guys did a reasonable mistake? Man what a bs show that was. I just don't get why we can't have a good jedi oriented story.
Wtf are you talking about. Very very sweet episode. You realize character development IS PLOT development.
This was the most relatable episode.
Wonderful show with another episode that makes us LOVE these characters
Happy New Year to you too.
Best one so far! Lots of character development, even the ship had character development!
This show is perfect 80s and 90s material. I'm loving it!
This by far the strongest Disney plus SW show given the 30 min runtime…usually I’m annoyed by that
Happy Moo Year!
🦬🦬🦬
I agree it was too short and it felt like there should be more.
Yah, that makes sense re: primary and secondary functions.
It’s a New Year’s miracle, Thor has started saying “Jod” correctly before the show ended.
This is why I love star wars
Any genre, for any person can make this universe work.
I loved Acolyte as the cheesy epic, and I love Andor as it's serious dark politically driven show, or rebels and found family, or skeleton crew a group of kids trying to survive.
Star wars is best when it just have fun
LaForge! Put her in StarTrek and she is LaForge!
Not a fan of how much they ripped the character off visually.
Another solid episode. It’s a great kids show through and through.
jod had a great dialogue
tbh I'm enjoying the series. It's just a fun easy watch with no "messaging" of any kind...exactly what SW should be.
I loved this episode! Though short, I thought it was much better than the show’s fourth episode. Overall, I’m totally enjoying this series.

Crabs in Skeleton Crew
What’s with all these crabs? Lol
They’re the pinnacle of evolution
Happy New Year!!! 🥳🎉🎇⭐✨
Jod is certainly CHArisma based character. This stat was off the charts in his speech...
And KB was great.
Finally, Wim actually saving someone. GJ, Jedi!
Also, ship shedding its "extra armored shell" was great.
Never trust a sorcerer. They're missing any intelligence.
Happy New Year 🎉
Definitely a strong episode, definitely a too-short episode.
The pirates said “grab the droid” before they left
I got over 2hrs of character fun and adventure in the 25 minutes so I am good!
Bryce Dallas Howard can direct all the Star Wars she wants to in my book … the Force is strong with her for me!
This was a crucial episode in that it was the first one where the kids had to handle business on their own. No Jod to help them. They had to band together to figure it out. That was the story. It was definitely sparse in that it coulda used more Jod, but I thought the story sorta revealed itself beyond character moments.
I enjoyed the episode. It’s refreshing to see some good character development. Though I’d like to see a little more lore/plot to these episodes too.
give him the airlock = walk the plank
(chefs kiss)
Hey Thor, we did see the pirate. If you pause the episode you can see frames where he appears. He's the same species as Hondo - but I don't think it's him.
Man, i really like Skelton Crew! I've been pleasantly surprised.
Every single episode should be at least 45 minutes to an hour otherwise great show so far even though its almost over lol
Happy New Year haven't seen it yet but will soon
Pretty sure the pirates took the droid.
No idea why they didn’t pillage all the jewels and take the ship.
Space Urkel says bring the robot when they’re taking Jod away.
