Welcome to today's episode of "Vytaan plays Doom"!

I was curious, and the SSG is actually available as soon as you open the blue door but you have to run through the nukage. You were low health so of course weren't going to do that. Then when you get into the area more it actually doesn't lower again until you get the red key, at which point you were distracted by the swarms of enemies lol. Tough level with a pistol start!!
Also you're right, it's not a true hub area. They're all separate maps with only one exit. It does add some continuity as well as an important breather though.

During the whole run, I was thinking, "shouldn't the SSG be around? With neither that nor the rocket launcher in use for so long, you were scrambling for life the whole time. That was great work, particularly that one Archvile you were shooting up the elevator at as it kept re-spawning monsters. That was great fighting.

Okay, this one was the BTSX playthrough of all time 🤣 I remember pistol starting this map once when I died without saving, and I distinctly don't remember myself or anyone else floundering like you did here. Missing the SSG entirely was the key. lmao
I know they say playthroughs of the same map are different across content creators due to playstyle and personality, but this isn't exactly what I had in mind... 🥲
Oh my goodness, that SSG at the end hurt my soul. I was wondering about that the whole time. Very well done not dying with mediocre weapons!
Also, it was pretty entertaining when the rocket launcher was revealed. I was expecting to hear angels singing, but instead you just kind of ignored it for a few beats. At least you paused long enough to recognize it. That would have been pretty painful if you missed it after all you'd gone through to reach it.
Haha nice going! I was losing my mind thinking “hang on I remember there being an SSG in this map what’s going on!” I forgot it was so tucked away lol, you fought brilliantly with just the basic weapons!
It's basically the classic Ultimate Doom experience! But with archies, revenants, mancs, arachnos, chaingunners... 😰

Thanks! Yeah, it was a bit painful. It's also why I really prefer Doom 2 over Ultimate Doom, though of course there's no revs/mancs/archviles etc there. But still, shotgunning cacos/barons isn't great either 😅
