I think it was mentioned in an interview about Dead spaces violence.
The answered intelligently: These extraterrestial creatures are more complex than what they look like, and in their late stage ov evelution, its not uncommon to have the abiliti to see where blood os flowing etc.
Now, the brain isnt the heart, but the brain still gives out electrical pulses. Maybe they notice that?
