You have helped my journey so much! I have watched all your episodes and have picked up a few books and currently working through a couple of them… I’m wanting to get your book here hopefully soon! Thank you so much for your wisdom on these books.
Daniel - thanks so much for commenting! It's wonderful to hear that you have benefited from the information! I love this stuff and want to help out anyone who shares an interest. Stay in touch.
@ I am excited to read and understand the info in your book .. I would really like to pick up melody’s from songs I enjoy and play them in different styles. Do you think you will publish it to be purchased as a book?
@@DanielRandolph-o3k I have technically published and copyrighted my book, BUT at this point in time I can't afford to print hard-copies. If demand picks up then I'd love to take that step! For now the eBook is all I can offer, but I have had some of my students print out all or chapters of it.
Thanks for the reviews of fingerstyle guitar books from beginner, immediate to advance level. Beginners will find these info useful if you're planning to collect some books in your guitar library.
Hey was wondering if you have any experience with Michael Mueller`s 100 lesson books? I have been thinking of buying the acoustic 100 lesson one but am worried its going to be to basic..
Hey - I haven't been through the "100 Acoustic Lessons" book, but I have another "100 Lessons" book for bass, and I just went through the Amazon sample pages of the "100 Acoustic Lessons." This looks like a fun book to go through after you have some experience, but I wouldn't start my fingerstyle journey with it. It's actually co-written by Chad Johnson, the author of Hal Leonard's "Fingerstyle Guitar" method that I talked about in this video. Anyway, I think a normal method book would probably give you a smoother and more thorough approach with a better difficulty progression.
Are you referring to the book "Complete Method for Classic Guitar" (Mel Bay)? I haven't been through that book, but from looking at the sample pages on Amazon, it looks like a good method book for learning to play classical guitar. It will present a very different approach, technique, and repertoire than any of the books that I've presented in this video (all of which focus on "fingerstyle"). Studying classical guitar is extremely helpful, but it emphasizes perfect technique, reading standard notation, and classical repertoire. If you are only looking to play more popular, blues, Celtic, or folk music, then I wouldn't go that direction (at least at first).
