What a treat to see Anchorage and the Chugach Range, Sleeping Lady and the Kenai Peninsula, and Kodiak Is. I even had a scotch and some cashews watching it. I remember the day when you could show up at the airport 10 minutes before departure, get first class and be wined and dined all the way to Seattle, but those days are gone. Thanks for letting me take some time to reminisce! Have a wonderful time in Hawaii.
I remember getting wined and dined while still on the ground. now they board all passengers through the first class doors so now you have to wait until airborne before getting any service.
Though i live in Alaska and have flown to Honolulu on the 737 i think my next trip will be to go to Seattle and then take the Hawaiian A330 First Class with the lie flat seats.
On her way to Sacramento from Maui as I type this! Beautiful bird and video! Hey you wouldn’t happen to know where that company 739 was headed just ahead of you folks on takeoff, would you? Mahalo and Aloha 🤙🏽
I love it here! Born and raised in these islands and I wouldn't trade it for the world! Did you enjoy your time here? I pray all went well! Mahalo for the reg#
Loved it! This was my 5th time on Oahu and I’ve also been to Maui. It’s always a great time and everyone is hospitable. I’ll keep returning as often as I can. I’ve got a couple of other videos to/from HNL on my channel as well.
DrSysop thanks! The earliest sunset in Anchorage is at 3:40pm, and that’s in December (winter solstice). By the end of February, when this video was shot, sun sets around 6pm.
I did fly first class from Anchorage to Honolulu and it wasn't the greatest flying experience. Though the First Class lounge was great the flight itself wasn't a First Class experience. First of all the seats were wide and comfy with lots of leg room but the seat pitch was laughable. It only reclined like 10 degrees! They provided a blanket yet no pillow. They did have in flight entertainment Android tablet. The greatest disappointment was the food service. They actually ran out of food selections! There are only twelve first class seats and they ran out of food! We wanted beef for dinner but they only had the pasta dish. The stewardess said we should've ordered our meal online or on their app to get what we wanted. The last hour of the flight my wife wanted hot tea and the stewardess said that she already turned off the hot water! Seriously Alaska Airlines? We paid premium and got subpar service. Save your money and fly coach and bring your own food as it's much much cheaper.
Couple of factors to that - primarily the power at which the engine operates. At, and shortly after, the takeoff, the engines are running about about 94-98% of max power, sometimes 100%. As you climb and level off, the power level decreases. In addition, the altitude change and speed make the sound vary as well.
*This is Amaizng to fly from Cold Alaska to Warm Hawaii and all this in one country, I am jealous and greetings from Poland :)*
Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed.

Thanks again. I only spent a short week there, so here I am already back home..

@kanehi It’s okay, Alaska is getting new interiors witch means more recline, more service, (I think.).
why does engine buzz louder on take off but no during rest of flight?

I thought you can't fly a 737 over the ocean :P
You can, as long as the airline has ETOPS certification. Southwest just got theirs and will be flying to Hawaii shortly.
I found a wife there once....
I remember. I may have been there for it.
