Alaska to Hawaii in 5 hours - Flight over the Pacific.

- A recent November flight on an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-800. Take-off over the snow-dusted city of Anchorage (temperature 27 degrees F), a skip over the Pacific Ocean, and a sunset landing into Honolulu (78 degrees F).
Tailwind helped speed this normally 5 hour, 50 minute flight to just over 5 hours.
Flight: AS870, Plane: N584AS. Seat - 9F.

Only thing that would worry me is, if something goes wrong with the plane, there is nowhere to land between ANC and HNL.

Not too long ago, the thought of flying from Anchorage to Honolulu on an older variant of the 737 would not have made me comfortable, but aviation technology have made that possible. Every time I've flown to Honolulu it was on a wide-body Boeing 767-300, with the 2-3-2 cabin layout and offers more comfort than a narrow-body 737-800. Nothing against the 737, it's a great aircraft, but for long flights a wide-body is my preference.
I didn't think that an overseas 5 hour flight would be a 737, because it's over vast ocean most of the flight and it is definitely too long a flight. I thought 737s usually do 1/2 hour to 2-1/2 or 3 hour flights tops, and they're always domestic (mainland-US domestic). Alaska to Hawaii flights are at least 5 hours and would always be widebody aircrafts such as 767s or A330s. At least I was quite sure of that

I flew the same and was not thrilled, the 737 economy seats are way too close, next time I'll take the short hop to Seattle and then the roomier Hawaiian airlines A330 to the islands.
Legroom Sucks On Most Airlines, Hawaiian and jetBlue are the better ones.
Southwest has new seats, and they have the most legroom in the 737 economy industry. Can't wait for them to to start service to HA!

Jojo Laffs thankfully they were preoccupied most of the flight (either that or the noise cancelling headphones helped). Just happened to be the loudest at the times I was filming of course. Sadly that affects the quality of the video in my mind.

They got a bit annoyingly loud around the time the plane started flying over the land in Hawaii during descent
I like kids and don't expect them to be quiet. However I would want my kids, to quiet down somewhat in a cramped 737. I don't think that is asking much.
I'm adding another comment, i live in Alaska, i fly to Hawaii. Problem is during the winter so does half of Alaska and there is no other airline non stop direct. So you get the families with kids like the flights to Orlando. Next time i go i may very well hop to Seattle and then take the roomier Hawaiian flight, which does offer lie flat seats in First.

Seriously, I was watching one of these flight videos a couple of weeks ago when I saw what looked like another plane flying by in the distance (which sometimes we do see in these videos). But it turned out to be a smudge on my screen when I apparently "wiped the plane away", lol.

Alejandro Sandoval if by "new interior" you mean premium economy setup, then no. Otherwise all new gen 737s on Alaska are the same.

Engage RC good tailwind. It’s about 5.5 to 6 hours normally. Hawaii is about equidistant from Alaska and West Coast of US.

They sound like great kids to me that are enjoying learning about the world around them with their own eyes and if you are bothered by hearing children learn then you must have never been a kid...I think this is awesome!

You know, after posting this video years ago, I’ve read through dozens of similar grumpy comments, from people who I assume have never had kids or people who generally would be incredibly unbearable to be around. If you must know, the majority of the flight these kids were quiet and kept to themselves. Other times? Well no crap, they are going to Hawaii, flying through the air. That’s pinnacle of excitement for a six year old. I’ve had a child of my own since posting this video, and I’ll tell you that no parent wants for their child to be out of control on an airplane. I almost forsee you replying “well they shouldn’t fly then”, and I’d politely tell you to stuff it, as I’m not taking a vacation to remember away from my kids just because they get excited on the plane ride down.

Amazing view,but the whole journey wasn't enjoyableat all!Mainly because of the children's shouting, making such a noise all the time!!
