He seems so dedicated and caring. Seeing interviews with his students, and how much they care for him, gave me a lump in my throat. We need someone like him running things these days.
Dear Hazel,I wish more men were like your father. You were blessed by God to have him, and all those who were influenced by him were blessed as well. In life, it does not matter how many material possessions or money you have. All that ends when you die. What does matter is if you were significant, and being significant is when you help other people be successful, and that will last many a lifetime. Your dad was significant.
As a graduate of Eastside HS, class of '86 Joe Clark is absolutely RIGHT!!!He provided Leadership, and a Positive role model for most of the students at Eastside. What I learned from that experienced provided me a with strong foundation of hope, strength & empowerment that would later be use to help me overcome any obstacle in life.Currently I have a Masters degree in Social Work...Had it not been for Joe Clark, I would not have known the importance and seriousness of education.Thank you JC..
Tobias2013 I think the Graduates of Mr Clark east side high need to reemerge and remind everyone about what he did. It's been 25th since the movie. We need the strength of this story now more then ever.
Your positive attitude towards his vocabulary is highly admirable. Many people would be insulted and accuse him of being arrogant. But people who speak well, like Joe Clark, are lifting people up, not dragging them down. They educate even outside the classroom. Good on you for recognizing an opportunity to learn and be better.
Juanita Wright Just watching some of these interviews on her that came to mind! I wonder why they didn’t ask Robert Guillaume to play Joe Clark. Morgan Freeman did do a great job.
What’s so amazing is that no matter how bad they talked about bad Arsenio Hall’s show he represented us to the fullest during a time of social and economical turmoil. Mr. Clark is the epitome of a black educated man teaching the youth in the inner city
I am a graduate of Eastside High School...class of 1970 we are celebrating our 50th Reunion. In my senior year it was the first year at Eastside High School there had to be security guards because drugs started to trinkle in. But also, anti-war demonstrations and civil right demonstrations were prevalent. When I saw the movie and looked upon my beloved alma mater, I couldn't believe it. Thank you to Principal Joe Clark for his vision to make EHS a school where learning could prevail.
1. Was it only your high school in northern jersey that you know of, that got hit with drugs? 2. What type of drugs did you all get hit with? 3. Would you ever walk in the bathroom, & see students doing hardcore drugs?
I will play this film at my 50th Birthday party . All ages and genders will be present . This film was so inspiring for me in , my early 20s . I believe in human potential and growth . This is how I try and live my life . God bless his soul and Rest In Eternal Peace. Love from London England
I'm 44 years old now and I remember watching this movie when I was a teenager! And last night I sat down and watched it again with my girls, for a whole new generation! Times may be different now, but the meaning still holds true.. we need more positive role models like Joe Clark, in today's society... My God bless you!
I.m from Philly I saw Joe Clark speak at A P.A.L. (Police Athletic League) Event for troubled youth (That was me) And I couldn't stop wishing I could be in his school because i longed for structure and leadership!
Key point...strong males that provide leadership. Where are these men today? Not the metrosexuals. Not the homosexuals. Not the hypersexualized cads. Not the effeminate Millennials. God, please provide us more males like Joe Clark.
Arsenio gave a splendiferous interview. Was hoping Mr. Clark would pull out the bullhorn on that girl when she said she got fired from teaching for being accused of sleeping with a student. Arsenio did a good job smoothing that over.
THIS WAS MY DAD MINUS THE EDUCATION .HE NEVER WENT TO SCHOOL BUT WAS THERE MORE THEN US TO MAKE SURE WE NEVER HAD TO STRUGGLE LIKE HE DID!!! SO FOR ME THIS IS NOTHING NEW BUT I CERTAINLY RESPECT THIS MAN!!! AT 55 I STILL WISH DAD WAS HERE TO SCHOOL ME SOMETIME BUT I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT MY DAD WAS MY JOE CLARK EVERY DAY AND ALL RESPECT IS DO!!!!!
Joe Clark was on point he was the man we definitely a lot of people and principle like him in this world especially in the New York City area and Pennsylvania where I live at
" Love has never been a popular movement. And no one's ever wanted, really, to be free. The world is held together, really it is held together, by the love and the passion of a very few people.” - James Baldwin -
In the film they made it seem like Joe was a very lonely man. Dr. Napier said “You got no life, and your wife left you.” Joe Clark was married and had a family. I don’t know why they would write that into the film.
It was so unfortunate but I heard the news that mr. Clark has passed away but like with every great human being it comes a time when heavenly gates swing open to those uniquely called profits to enter heavens gates. I loved his ability to fight the injustices of a failing systemic institutions who's mission is to fail black and brown urban children he said what he meant by serving them a dose of realness it's refreshing to view his life's work because it proves they're still strong black men who are committed to black excellence. Rest in paradise to mr clark you served us well
We need more Joe Louis Clark's in our schools and in our court systems...parents are victimized and powerless because of left wing liberals..we are suffering because of tool is years of liberals being in charge..please GOD hear our cries and heal our great land and people
"My young nubian queen, I find your feminine pulchritude most ineffable. After an evening in my embrace, your life will move from vapid and insipid to positively effervescent. I guarantee you will wish for our inchoate relationship to _expeditiously_ burgeon, after even the scantest moment in my embrace!" LOL
Hot Ice.........NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO................................ For THAT..........he took up after Venus Flytrap from WKRP in Cincinatti. He simply walks up to a woman he thinks is special and says "Hey mama, what it is with your fine self".................HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Im a white 42 yr old white male & the reason i say "white male" is because he treated no one differently, if i attended this school HIS school back then I'd run through a brick wall for this TRUE leaderl!RESPECT
I wish Joe Clark was my high school principal. The one I had was a typical douchebag cronie of the school superintendent. The principal was just there to maintain grades and order. He was very selective on choosing students he treated well. The other students were treated like they didn't exist. He didn't connect with the students that truly needed guidance. It was as if we were unimportant.
I know it's 5 yrs later but it's because in the school's stage show there was nudity and some parents were upset so he took responsibility for it even though he wasn't there when it happened
Hi everyone! Thanks for showing my Dad so much love! I will share your comments with him!
Hazel Clark we need a million of your dads for this world he's awesome
Hazel Clark

He seems so dedicated and caring. Seeing interviews with his students, and how much they care for him, gave me a lump in my throat. We need someone like him running things these days.

Joe Clark has increased my vocabulary tenfold !!! I actually look up and memorize some of the words that he uses. Thanks Mr. Clark !!!

John Amos.... but Morgan is the best!
@@D22BH oh yes John Amos would've been a good choice too
What’s so amazing is that no matter how bad they talked about bad Arsenio Hall’s show he represented us to the fullest during a time of social and economical turmoil. Mr. Clark is the epitome of a black educated man teaching the youth in the inner city

My cousin worked in the school that Joe Clark was Principal in. She liked him a lot and understood his message.

Two tough bastards.
If there was a hall of fame for teachers and principles, this man would be in it
Key point...strong males that provide leadership. Where are these men today? Not the metrosexuals. Not the homosexuals. Not the hypersexualized cads. Not the effeminate Millennials. God, please provide us more males like Joe Clark.
I know quite a few strong gay men like this. That doesn't matter.
Arsenio gave a splendiferous interview. Was hoping Mr. Clark would pull out the bullhorn on that girl when she said she got fired from teaching for being accused of sleeping with a student. Arsenio did a good job smoothing that over.
Good strong MALE leadership, let that sink in. Rest In Power Mr. Joe Clark 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

We need so head masters like him in Scotland. The Scottish government has made an absolute mess of our schools.
Which councils are you familiar with?
“You can call me crazy Joe or you can call me Batman!”
Rest in Power Baba Clark - 🙏
IF a principal did that in todays culture. Or gave a speech like at the emergency meeting.. The principal would have been suspended..
Yup. It’s crazy how times have changed and I mean in a BAD WAY. This generation is so screwed up.
Isn't it disgusting to see what has become of today's school systems?
go figure..
mr C was one of a kind...
This generation is soft
T.I. speech therapist
R.I.P Mr. Joe Clark
To this day when strong men stand up we do want to be led let's stand up 💪
In the film they made it seem like Joe was a very lonely man. Dr. Napier said “You got no life, and your wife left you.”
Joe Clark was married and had a family. I don’t know why they would write that into the film.
Great man... exactly what is missing today in all schools today. All schools, not just inner city schools.
I WOULD LIKE TO MEET MR. JOE CLARK.
Mr.Joe Clark don't play!

Al Bundy and Joe Clark. Badass .
Joe Clark has a bigger vocabulary than 2Pac,and Pac had a hell of a vocabulary.
Can you imagine his pick up lines with that vocabulary??
"My young nubian queen, I find your feminine pulchritude most ineffable. After an evening in my embrace, your life will move from vapid and insipid to positively effervescent. I guarantee you will wish for our inchoate relationship to _expeditiously_ burgeon, after even the scantest moment in my embrace!"

He was very selective on choosing students he treated well. The other students were treated like they didn't exist. He didn't connect with the students that truly needed guidance. It was as if we were unimportant.
I just wish sooooo many Black men would take notice at how he ran that school and run their lives, households and communities THAT WAY!
was the movie true to life, and how did he get suspended?
I know it's 5 yrs later but it's because in the school's stage show there was nudity and some parents were upset so he took responsibility for it even though he wasn't there when it happened
