This is so relatable. My mother bought a bunch of new furniture back when we moved in, and my dad constantly said it was wayyyy too big and too much for the house and the room. She didn't listen and made the most horrible layout I've ever seen in a bedroom. You were able to either walk for about 2 steps forward, then you'd have to try to fit through the sides so you can actually go on the bed, lol. Not to mention, the bedstands literally couldn't fit right, so they had to be turned around, and they couldn't even open the drawers. My mother has since moved out, and my father and I have completely re done the house in terms of moving around furniture
@Abmar it's alright, my parents are still together technically, they're just going through a hard time, trying to decide if they really want to be together, so they decided some time separated would be good. Great solution! Alternatively, they could downsize their furniture because that size of a place is absolutely not meant for that size of furniture. Edit: to the people commenting about the residents needing that much furniture to fit themselves, that’s for sure not the case because the full layout shown in the video only has one bed for at most two people. So you could totally make a case that they like to host or something, that would be fair. But they definitely don’t NEED room for 8 people at their table just for the residents (and notice that they only have 3 chairs at the massive dining room table as it is!) Secondly, that couch is NOT oversized because of an attempt to accommodate multiple people. It’s oversized because of how DEEP it is. The loveseat comparison in the video shows that the largest segment of the couch alone is literally twice as deep as a normal couch. Additionally, while the comments about not just being able to replace all the furniture every time they move are fair, I would still disagree that it’s unrealistic. Their furniture is in good enough condition to get some decent prices if they sold, especially that massive and nice dining room table. And ultimately I’m not saying they need to do that, the solution proposed in this video is fine. Im just offering another option! Plus if you watch this guy’s other videos you will see that he regularly recommends replacing furniture to better utilize the space.
Repurchasing new furniture every time you move is expensive and wasteful especially cuz once you have it, it's hard to sell. You basically just have to give it away or leave it on the curb and pray it doesn't rain before someone who wants it passes by. If they are renters (likely) they probably know they will only be there a year or two anyway.
Yea, as others have said. It really doesn't make sense to change furniture out everytime you move. Especially if it's still good or your family situation hasn't changed. They might need all that seating/eating area while not having the income to afford a larger property, either that or they had to move for work and there were no larger options at the time and they'll be moving to a larger place soon. Theres lots of reasons as to why they still need the furniture.
@@Diniecita those are fair points. But furniture absolutely doesn’t need to be expensive, and by “downsize their furniture” I assumed selling the current furniture would be a part of the process, not just throwing it all away or something. Also, two counterpoints to the possibility that they may have a lot of people living there to accommodate: 1) the number of beds he shows on his full layout of the apartment doesn’t account for 8 seats at the table, so that implies the table is definitely not a necessity for the occupants of the apartment. And 2) the couch is NOT oversized because of making room to fit a higher number of people (meaning oversized in width). Much of the way it can’t fit in the space is because the couch is way DEEPER than normal. Thus, bad use of a small space and not accommodation of many people.
@@Diniecita Actually as this is in Sweden, good rental flats in the big cities are very sought after …much more so than owning because less expensive, loads of rights including a form av rent control, no loans. so cool! yes, breaking up furniture sets is underrated
How fun to see something from Sweden 😃 Got a bit confused when it was on my mother tongue 😊🙏
After the rewatch I am laughing out loud. The pronunciation of Kitchen, Kök, so fun! 😂🐔🍆
Thank you, now I have a fun story to share to all my Swedish friends, we are gonna love it. I will be cooking dinner in my kök soon 😂😂😂
This is EXACTLY why I want the trend of smaller sized furniture to continue!! Oye 😩
I am so obsessed with these videos and my sims houses are really showing it😄
Dude you are so very good at this!
I would suggest and extendable table and that's it. When you use it you can either use the couch as seats. If not have plegable chairs for it. My brother has it like this and when we go over to dinner is easy to seat everyone and later we just put everything aside and move to the sofa
Awesome idea. What about putting the extra piece in the dining area? Your idea opened the dining area for office or sitting area
Gosh, I truly hope that by the time I can afford my dream house, you'll still be doing what you do now, so I can hire you to make sure I have perfect Feng Shui in my house (if that's you would even consider doing).
Honestly, I think having you stand in one's house would be enough cancel out all negative energy 😂
