- KTLA's David Lazarus reports on Starbucks' push to get remote workers back into the office, and Robinhood jumps into election trading. Oct. 29, 2024.
KTLA 5 News - Keeping Southern Californians informed since 1947.
Great she called him on his personal grandstanding and pushing his personal values. Has nothing to do with the segment of going back to the office.
THOUSANDS OF OFFICE SPACES NEED TO BE FILLED. THEY ALSO HAVE LEASES THAT HAVE BEEN PAID FOR ALREADY
WRITING IN ALL CAPS IS STUPID.
RESPONDING TO SOMEONE IN ALL CAPS IS NONSENSE
Simple make ur coffee before u leave Home
By flying on that corporate jet, CEO is literally leading by example. And cmon, the people at Starbucks HQ aren’t baristas, they’re other executives and generally well paid, not quite “minions”.
Stop whining. He is the boss. Everyone knows that being the boss comes with perks.
Pensions for the factory floor?? My, my, my, David, aren't we showing our age??
Gen X doesn't even want to work at HOME !! lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
DON"T SUPPORT STARBUCKS........IT"S THAT EASY PEOPLE
Exactly!
Again, just a reminder that David Lazarus was the Yankee Catcher in the first Bad News Bears movie!
I don’t believe the CEO flies every day, probably Zoom calls
You know, there are people who would do the extra work and replace those people who refuse to follow their employer's guidelines. SURE, "CEO's" are mostly ALWAYS gonna be living in luxury in comparison to the ground workers. That's a separate issue. But this whole movement of entitlement from employees other than what's legally bounding is a pendulum that's gonna eventually swing back. You wanna complain because a boss expects you in the office for an office job? Cool, make room for people who will appreciate your position. At least this CEO shows up to the office every day, regardless of what "form of transportation" he uses to get there.
If your job is getting done doesn't matter where the hell you are and if you can save money on commuting and childcare more power to you if you're not getting the work done that's another thing but if you're getting the work done that is expected of you they should shut up
Why? Why force people to commute an hour to and from work . Traffics a nightmare and life ruiner.
If an hour commute is a “life ruiner“, then your life is quite.
Sad.
Right Like if you live in a place like LA it's really hard to hop on the train and go to your job downtown is your job is most likely not downtown. It's a lot cheaper and easier to get like a train pass for the month and spend money on gas and sit in traffic on really dangerous freeways all day long. If you are getting the work done it shouldn't matter where you are
@ if there’s traffic, how’s the fwy dangerous?
That news anchor has some hidden anger brewing in him… someone did him dirty
The CEO makes more money than the rank and file employees??? How unfair!!! 😲
It is more difficult for the boss to be exploitative and abusive if he is not in the room with you. It breaks the power trip. That is why rhey want their minions back in the pens.
Although if they don't actually walk to work they can accuse you of all sorts of stuff but if they are physically right next to you watching you work you have a little more power in proving them wrong
Starbucks is overrated and over priced for...coffee!?
I think it’s time people get back to the office. I’m tired of meetings getting “accidentally” interrupted by a stray baby, dog, cat, or ferret. It is no longer cute and it’s been 4 years get over yourselves and get back to work.
hasnt been any Flatul ence interruptions?
What about taking meetings on my phone from Costco?
How about all the government employees? Gov offices are empty!
Corporate workers.. you get more work done.. at HOME .. staying out of office politics.. Brian Nichol .. On his jet! He needs to wake up!! And Very Important Person in the OC… blah blah blah! Move to Seattle
This CEO will not even move to Seattle after being hired on his $30M per year contract!! Starbucks say they will give him free use of the corporate jet and maybe open up an office just for him only, near his California home with an assistant there so he can comply with his own work from office mandate. You cant make this stuff up its so entitled! No thanks... will keep brewing my own coffee.
I miss 2019..
People died …
me too
@@officialtoastyy People die every second
People are getting lazier by the day, Don’t blame them businesses, if you want to be paid show up to work, there are enough people out of work, they would not have a problem filling the spots
But this will increase our carbon footprint and is bad for the environment. How many cars will now be on the road blocking your daily commute? Just stay home.
Workers are getting sucked, tired to work your bosses having their jobs.
Robinhood now a gambling app
that anchor is a complete idiot.. WHy wouldn't a CEO have use of a corporate jet?? They the DAMN CEO.... is he expected to uber to work?
Dave, you're extremely biased on the "It's a control thing" comment. Some people are productive working from home, and some people end up screwing around with the privilege (work double jobs, excuse after excuse with not turning stuff on time etc ...). Unfortunately, you can't fire all the ones messing around at the same time. You can't pick and choose who gets the home privileges for HR liability / equity reasons. It's easier to just get everyone back in the office and get everyone to be more productive.
I do agree with you leaders need to set an example.
It's kind of like if you're getting worked on from home it shouldn't matter where you are If you're not that's another thing
Starbucks sucks who drink s this 💩?
They should they sitting at Home
Boycott Starbucks. Nobody needs overpriced mediocre coffee.
Covid 19 Pangimic.
