Just bought a 2012 yesterday with only 52,000 miles. I wasn't looking for one in particular and assumed it would be cramped - I'm 6' and 250 lbs, and it is also a stick, which I haven't driven in decades. Turns out, much bigger once you're in it. Very comfortable. Ergonomics, superior. And the most buttery shifting I've ever experienced. What a fun little car!
Alex Stone I just bought one today. A 2011 with 22,000 on the clock. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I have done the right thing and that they are not as unreliable as they are made out to be
I love my little fiat! I got mine in November and it’s a convertible. Rides very well, and it’s surprisingly fast once she’s rolling. Great for parking and navigating tight roads and spaces. No complaints so far
THANK YOU for being the first and apparently only video review of this car to show what it looks like with the rear seats folded down! I do light delivery (which is sometimes a little bulky) and carry around musical equipment (guitar, amp, keyboards, etc) or dogs and don't need tons of space, but a hatchback and folding rear seats usually does the trick.
I enjoy my muscle cars and high end sports cars as much as the next guy, but I would love to have this car. It's not flashy, it's not over the top, and it's not really that impressive. What it is is practical and fun. Yes it has it's short comings, but what car doesn't? It doesn't come off as imposing or trying to be anything it's not. It's an affordable car for the masses that looks good and will get you from A to B without pissing off traffic. I could live with this car just fine.
yea I'm looking at one but also worried about reliability as for as much as Europeans talk about American cars there cars like bmw and merc's etc are are very high on the list of most unreliable vehicles
I've owned my fiat500t for almost 4 years now. No problems at all. Only problem was those firelli tires. They loose tread to easy. I drive put about 400 miles a week. Got it with 46,000 miles. Im at 78,000 now.
Rick Daley, Thank you for your extremely appreciated and encouraging response. I was not aware that there were any Fiat 500 models that come with a spare tire. If that is the case, I shall definitely demand one, because I would really LOVE to own this car! For me, a spare tire is the ONLY solution to a flat tire. I've read enough criticisms of the tire pump kit to reject that unacceptable option. Again, thank you for the heartening news!
@cb7pwn yeah I know newer cars have sensors or something that can adjust the settings to run on lower octanes. I just meant that you don't see many cars that start under $20k that recommend premium.
What do thick side pillars have to do with lane changes? All my cars for the last 3 decades have had side mirrors which handle this job just fine, and the 500 has them, too, from all the pictures I've seen. Some people just don't know how to adjust their mirrors, I guess, even so-called professionals.
5 speed, I have a 2012 pop best car I have ever owned I went from a pontiac g6 GT and at first I missed my horse power but not any more this is a great little car have not had any problems with it and I have 39,000 miles all ready great on gas and I find if you spend the extra 25 cents for premium the car reacts better so worth the premium fuel and great gas mileage! In the city in the middle of last winter in Buffalo NY with the heat on all the time still getting 31+ and in the summer 41 mile to the gallon. I give the car a 4 1/2 stars out of 5!!!!
there were some minor things but it was the first year it hit the US market place and was covered by warranty. it's a pad or some thing in the front Suspension, not a big deal took them about an 1 and half hours to fix. This was only on the pop models 2012-2014
folded much more room not folded well small it's a small car that's the point, great car so far going on my 4th summer love it. Hell it only requires an oil change every 8000 miles or 6 months what ever comes first.
i'm glad i waited to buy mine. i also like if you get in an accident and the airbags deploy, the hazards automatically go on and the gas to engine shuts off.. i also like the white leather seats in an economy car
In europe fiats are becoming more and more reliable, especially since 2005. they are great cars and sometimes they're even more reliable than competitors, like the giulietta. In europe fiat builds for ford and for opel (buick in eu) 2 cars, the ka for ford and the combo for opel. they are building some pretty great cars lately, check your facts.
The only thing that I really don't like about the FIAT is that there is absolutely NO headroom! I'm 5'11", not even six feet tall and I hit my head getting in and out of this car. My first car was a 1975 FIAT spider and I loved that car. The seat in the 500 just doesn't go down far enough. The interior cabin room just feels cramped and you feel pushed up too high and too close to the windshield. I much prefer the MINI Cooper, there's just much more headroom for tall people.
There is a handle on the left side driver seat that lowers the seat like six inches...I am 6'1" and I feel like a shrimp in the back seat when it is fully down...js..lol
@dalotel You are referring to the Fiats in the 70's ? Do you think they still make the same cars ? Does any car maker make the same car they did back in the 70's?
I agree with you that it is an odd and disturbing trend although if you tell the dealer you want a spare tire and you refuse to pay extra for it, they will likely find you a model that has one. That is what they did for me. If they want to make the sale, they will work it out. The crazy thing is that models that do not come with a spare tire, come with a fix-a-flat type repair kit an a tire pump and I have wondered if that might actually be a better solution.
I find the whole city car thing a bit telling of how silly we are int eh USA> Cities should be for people, transit, bikes, and pedestrians... not cars. I loved how in Europe the streets were closed to cars. Many W. countries had parking on the outskirts that busses or trains would take you in. Made it much more inviting and people oriented. To dream.
if u dont mind me asking, how much what year and which model? im lookingfor the 500c, but i would also like to own the lounge, but cant afford the 500c lounge, as im 17
@TheRealOliver I've never been so happy with a car in my life..... Is it Corvette? No but it's as agile as a gyroscope... lot of joy driving in the miserable stop and go traffic of L.A.....And it easy to park anywhere!
When people think of Fiat they think that the cars aren t so reliable but that is on the past. Yes sure they are right, thinking that for exampleVW is a more friendlier drivers car and it may start always but look at the prise tag. go to Consumer Reports and pay 12 dollars to get the dealer's cost as well as preferred dealers recommended by CR in your area. I saved almost $5000 on my Subaru Outback without haggling after I got dealer's cost from CR.
I'm living in Cape Town, South Africa and my Italian mechanic told me that they don't make any money with these little cars.Just the normal service as he explained.

@donnie623 Good luck getting an entry level scion for 12k the only thing you can get for that is a Nisan Versa. And the Fiat is actually quite powerful with 101 hp remember its a small car and doesn't need a lot of hp. Its not a 3 ton 1950's Cadillac that needs a V8 its a Fiat. 101hp is just fine for the size of the car.
I love Fiat - and I´m neither a jew nor a christian - but I do respect all living creatures and humans as long as they themselves have respect and more love than hatred in their system!
I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but why is everyone interested in these European/Japanese cars like Fiat, Mini Cooper and the Nissan Cube? They were technically based for the European/Japanese lifestyle while in here in the U.S., Canada and Mexico have the luxury to smash the roads with bigger cars like the Challenger/ Chrysler 300 or the new Cadillac?
@SimpleLivingSanity I guess because most people prefer to have it all. And it is 2012 and all cars come with those features. You may be in the minority.
Just another reason to hold on to my 92 VW GTI 16v forever. These cars are no quicker, better handling, or more charming. Plus they have too much shit in them. I like manual windows, manual sunroofs, and super awesome Recaro seats. Nowadays if I want a simple, fun, less involved car... I need to look at Hyundai, Aveo, base Toyota, or Nissan Versa. None of those have a sport model, and if they did... they would likely have all that shit too. Nice to never ever need a new car, bright side.
@MrDolcevita1 "It’s still too early to consider the Fiat 500 a sales flop, but the MINI-rivaling brand has had a hard go in the U.S. During its first few months on the market, sales of the 500 are less than half of what Fiat originally expected, and there is no guarantee they will improve any time soon." leftlanenews (dot) com / fiat-still-struggling-to-sell-500-to-americans . html
It's pretty cheap for a new car. Granted it is a lot of money and there are new cars for less, but at that price you are in the "low area" of the new car price range today.
dear american everything must be in proportion. A small car needs a small block. a small engine doesn't mean it will lack horspower. they can have up to 140 HP with ease. A 2.2 block wouldn't do any better
I feel sorry for people like you. You have a problem with yourself not the car, otherwise why would you come and look at video of a car you dislike so much and even write comment about it?
Nope, I'm saying I have mirrors on the cars I buy, and I'm careful to adjust them PROPERLY and I use them. Most idiots don't have a clue how to adjust their mirrors, thereby creating blind spots that they have to deal with.
Pleeze........my wife loves this car and me for driving it! Sadly many "guys" who make fun of the size and HP, probably are single and drive testosterone fueled "muscle" cars, whether current irritations or actual past ones. Know why you are still single..or with low IQ women? No?..................................................... don't think too hard, your wife might leave you.
Just bought a 2012 yesterday with only 52,000 miles. Most fun car I've ever owned! And guys, if you drive this car, it shows you're secure with your own sexuality!
Ha gaiiiiii
I have a 2013 Fiat Sport. I love it. It's been super reliable.
Tomorrow im picking up my fiat 500 sport...I hope it handles well in the Mexico City roads
I enjoy my muscle cars and high end sports cars as much as the next guy, but I would love to have this car. It's not flashy, it's not over the top, and it's not really that impressive. or for men who like properly functional and stylish city cars
🥂
Picking up my fiat today 💃💃😊
I am picking up my new 500 tonight... I test drove a lot of fuel economy cars and i always came back to this one.
I bought a 2012 Fiat Sport and haven't has any major issues at all! Such an awesome little car!
yea I'm looking at one but also worried about reliability as for as much as Europeans talk about American cars there cars like bmw and merc's etc are are very high on the list of most unreliable vehicles
Jeremy Alfaro Hi Do you still have you car? Have you had any problems with blue&me at all (if you car has it?)

mine have now 4 years guys, and the US version looks better then the previous italian/european one...still no problem and still wonderful as day one.
you get the 5-speed or the automatic?
zestydude87 5 speed ofc, black 95hp, if you don't care about gas take the Abarth one.
@cb7pwn yeah I know newer cars have sensors or something that can adjust the settings to run on lower octanes. I just meant that you don't see many cars that start under $20k that recommend premium.

@RedBullARG When he said America he meant United States of America. Fiat stopped selling cars in the U.S. in 1983 but returned this year.
I love my car great on gas all most 3 years old and still getting 36 miles to the gallon on city streets I have the 5- speed great car.
there were some minor things but it was the first year it hit the US market place and was covered by warranty. it's a pad or some thing in the front Suspension, not a big deal took them about an 1 and half hours to fix. This was only on the pop models 2012-2014

folded much more room not folded well small it's a small car that's the point, great car so far going on my 4th summer love it. Hell it only requires an oil change every 8000 miles or 6 months what ever comes first.
+Stuart Walker nice I've driven every single Fiat model and loved all of them and really want one
i'm glad i waited to buy mine. i also like if you get in an accident and the airbags deploy, the hazards automatically go on and the gas to engine shuts off.. i also like the white leather seats in an economy car

This is my jams brah got a 2012 .. love it....
Just brilliant. Bought a 500 to tow behind my RV, ended up using it around home instead of our bmw 520d
My wife calls it Fast N Furious. Love it.
The only thing that I really don't like about the FIAT is that there is absolutely NO headroom! I'm 5'11", not even six feet tall and I hit my head getting in and out of this car. @boutdempapers I believe projected release date for the Abarth is sometime next year.
The nice and fun thing is that you can buy also a very fast Abarth version of this 500
I agree with you that it is an odd and disturbing trend although if you tell the dealer you want a spare tire and you refuse to pay extra for it, they will likely find you a model that has one. That is what they did for me. If they want to make the sale, they will work it out.

Our family just bought a Sport model for 20 grand, it's not very powerful but it has style, is cute as a button and always attracts attention.
@Sharod101 I don't think the SS Abarth will make it here, just the regular Abarth (at least that's the word I've heard).
I find the whole city car thing a bit telling of how silly we are int eh USA> Cities should be for people, transit, bikes, and pedestrians... not cars. @mattysenpai does yaris basic or corolla basic come with all the features? even the S model of toyota does not include blutooth and it is an option.
Cool car but I wonder if the fiat 500 is better than the scion iq or chevy spark in terms of reliability?
FIAT is not known for good quality control.
There's videos of it in the snow and it seems to do about the same as a cavilier.
I honestly think this wont get many sales, but I do like the design.
Is this a pop or lounge?
@MrDolcevita1 PW and P Door locks? ...what car nowadays doesn't come with those features?

Nice comprehensive review
i just love it, i want mine in yellow.
@TheRealOliver I've never been so happy with a car in my life..... Is it Corvette? No but it's as agile as
a gyroscope... lot of joy driving in the miserable stop and go traffic of L.A.....And it easy to park anywhere!
@TitanSubZero15 maybe because the fiat, mini, and nissan are considerably less expensive that the challenger, 300, and cadillac
Amazing car ...
I thought Fiat was strictly European, BUT YES FINALLY! soooo going to get the Fiat 500 Abarth SS
When people think of Fiat they think that the cars aren t so reliable but that is on the past.
Yes sure they are right, thinking that for exampleVW is a more friendlier drivers car and it may start always but look at the prise tag.
If you want the looks ,don t or can t spend to much money, this Fiat 500 is your car.
The nice thing is,this car doesn t need that much fuell so you will save some money too : )

4:08 , 1.4 litter , 4 CYLINDER, 101 HORSE POWER, 98 POUND TORQUE
One month ago today I bought my new Fiat. Marks it's 23rd day in the shop with no promise of return. Talk about "buyer's remorse"!
At least Fiat has lived down it's, "Fix-it-again-Tony" image, since they can't seem to fix it at all, now!
Warn your friends!
I am currently car shoping for my first car anyone know where a good website is that has great deals and of course fiat 500s?
go to Consumer Reports and pay 12 dollars to get the dealer's cost as well as preferred dealers recommended by CR in your area. I saved almost $5000 on my Subaru Outback without haggling after I got dealer's cost from CR.
I'm living in Cape Town, South Africa and my Italian mechanic told me that they don't make any money with these little cars.Just the normal service as he explained.
i have this car and i as much a man as the ones that drive the trans ams
An important option not mentioned in this review: a spare tire.
. . . which shouldn't even BE an option IMO. A spare tire should be standard equipment.
Unfortunately -- amazingly -- outrageously, the Fiat 500 is not the only car being sold without a spare tire -- an extremely disturbing trend, to me.
I test-drove a Fiat 500 and loved it. I L-O-V-E this car! I want to BUY this car!
. . . but I'm not dropping 15 large (or more) on any car that does not come with a spare tire.
How many flats have you had in your life? The fiat comes with a combo pump and tire sealant kit..if you are running good tires .. should not by an issue. .I guess if you calculate all the gas used carrying around spare tires the life of all the cars..it would be a big number of waste*..but I do like the idea of a spare too! Lol..but I guess I will get used to it
Love this car!
@jchasp I find that really hard to believe- specially with the good reputation it has developed in the past few years in Europe- it was voted best car in Europe.
@MrDolcevita1 Why can't they make one in a base stripped trim, set up for fun, without all those luxury goods? In such a small car, I can't see the need for power windows, locks, etc. I just want a nimble, cute, fun, zippy, light weight car.
Cool car and I would love the Abarth SS when it comes to America.
I hope they bring the Abarth over too.
any one else notice they were driving it in the shoulder at 1:11 ?
@BahamutEternal if you owned one you would change your mind. I do and it is fantastic!
this car is just awesome!! But fiat why don't you bring the sport in europe? it looks great!
@zac0964 Weeeellll last month in June it sold about 1,700 cars or so. And considering this car has no brand reputation here in the U.S. and that it's only had 3 months in the market it's okay selling I guess.
@Sharod101 not any more since they bought chrylser
Oh thanks
Get the sport over the pop, you get better value for your money and a much more exciting drive, especially when you put it on sport mode
Don t comment when you never drove one.
Were do you think Fiat build their cars?
In their own country and East European countries and yes we have mountens in Europe with lost of snow !!
If you still are worried, there are 4x4 Fiats and will be a 500 4x4 on the market soon!
i have a abarth 695, bottom line this is the one to get
bottom line, no thanks. the base one is the version to buy .not everything is about power
I am going to buy one until the Abarth Esseesse comes in! and please Fiat, bring the Panda and Punto too to the U.S. !
@donnie623 Good luck getting an entry level scion for 12k the only thing you can get for that is a Nisan Versa. italian "topolina"....a symbol of italian way to live!
@mattysenpai what cars don't come with those feathers? mmmmmm toyota, honda, kia, hyundai.
One day I will own one
They should totally bring the Punto evo and Bravo to the US
picking up my Fia Tomorrow
Getting my Fiat 500 sport in 2 months :D
Just waiting for the abarth to come. : )
@hadabenz
Fiat will do it in 2013 with new model "Punto" e "Croma"
Saw one of these today in hot pink!
@donnie623 its an 08 535 first of all not everybodys poor in the world. The fiat is fun and cool for me the price is fine for you its alot

@ianater900 That is exactly what I am saying!
the 500 isnt the rival for spark or iq though that would be the panda. But still rather a 500 than those two...
Fix It Again Tony!
how fuckin original
It's pretty cheap for a new car. Granted it is a lot of money and there are new cars for less, but at that price you are in the "low area" of the new car price range today.
Really cute car.
@boutdempapers wait a year and it will come to the U.S
Hahaha helping boost resale values. The fiat has HORRIBLE resale value. Used they're cheaper then dirt though. ...so hunt for a deal and buy used!

dear american everything must be in proportion. A small car needs a small block.
a small engine doesn't mean it will lack horspower. they can have up to 140 HP with ease.
A 2.2 block wouldn't do any better
I feel sorry for people like you. You have a problem with yourself not the car, otherwise why would you come and look at video of a car you dislike so much and even write comment about it?
why are the European so good at making cool looking cars? It's nice to see a fresh small car than the overrated and dated mini.
No?..................................................... don't think too hard, your wife might leave you.
guys who drive those types of cars are usually trying to get their tiny dicks laid
