I like the way Raheen. (spelling?) is watching the movie and understanding it. He is a man of depth and feeling. I love the kid too with that wonderful baby face and who can forget Babu. But Raheen is trying to focus.

I love all this. This whole channel, what they’ve learned. As babu once said, they were ignorant villagers. Now they have a grasp of modern science and have touched the world cultures through these movies and videos on their other channel “common man show” they’ve not only become educated better than my school curriculum taught me, but are “worldly cultured” as well. @@michaeltnk1135 Then also mentioned how big Irish slavery was in the northern US states. Or the Chinese that built the railroads. Etcetera. Point being, human life didn't mean much in the past. Slavery was "a thing" in almost all cultures at some point in history or another. And don't forget to mention that not many people could afford to own slaves, that was pretty much a rich-person plantation thing--the average farmer could never afford to buy a healthy slave. Well crap...now we've gone over a whole lot of things. Idk, maybe we should avoid telling too much or putting them on the wrong foot.
@@Doxymeister Why would they talk about the Irish or the Chinese when the movie is very specifically about the racial enslavement of African Americans.......are you being serious? Also, the Irish in north America were not slaves, they were indentured servants. There was no perpetual/hereditary racial slave trade of Irish people in the US. I hate that so many people continue to espouse this blatant myth and even try to compare it to what Africans were subjected to. At best, its ignorance, at worst, it's deflection.

I think (it seems) that practically everyone knows how bad slavery is--the guys here even discussed it along with the caste system in their own country. Adding the need to go into a more detailed explanations isn't going to add any enjoyment of the movie for people who don't have that history, I don't think. It seemed extraneous details--much as all that stuff I said was extraneous. It's adding a bunch of stuff that's unnecessary (whether you agree with it's accuracy or not) in order for folks to understand the context and enjoy the movie. That's all.

If I can be completely honest as a 43-year-old black man from Chicago. Never heard the word, apartheid or what occurred in South Africa. It's important to learn from every culture.
'Apartheid' (segregation) is a Dutch word originated by Dutch colonists in South Africa before the country got annexed by the Brits and imposed as a rule of law.
I remember apartheid. I knew a woman f from SA that was pro and she had an exchange student who was against it. At the moment I live with Hindus and one of them met Nelson Mandela. She absolutely loved him . SA stayed segregated long after civil rights here had come about . It's not been that long re: apartheid.
Really? That's what makes Nelson Mandela such an iconic civil rights hero. It's crazy how recent it was, too.

50 000 000 people are still slaves around the world these days.Sadly, slavery isn't an old subject, it' is still very much a living nightmare for a lot of people, children, men and women.
I know slavery still exist today but I'm mainly referring to sex slavery(women getting kidnapped, and there are also children getting kidnapped and also put in the same type of slavery), but I don't know if regular slavery exist today.
Man what a choice! Nobody is ready for this movie when they watch it, so I couldn’t imagine watching it having only seen a couple dozen movies. A period piece is always a great choice!

Very surprised to see how quickly they understood the concept of chattel slavery based on color here in the states! And the revolt they felt, comparing it to the caste system! In schools in America were often taught that the cast system is just part of life in India and everybody there just doesn’t really care and agrees with it. I’m glad to learn that isn’t true.

@@Xcris_crosX It was similar at times, but also different. British rule of India was often indirect - essentially letting local rulers continue to rule so long as the taxes and goods kept flowing smoothly (and they didn't much care how it was done). Its how Britain has decided we were the good guys regarding slavery - even though we 100% were not, we just subcontracted it out and pretended it wasn't happening. The Indians were right to be angry at us for centuries of abuse.
I'm suprised they think that it doesn't exist anymore, when I have heard otherwise from a very educated Indian woman, and last week I came across a video of an African man traveling in India who kept being told he could not stay at their hotels because he was African. Similarly, a group of American students had similar stories. They booked online, and when they got there, the white women were welcomed in while the black ones were told they couldn't stay there. I am thinking that maybe in their area and village they don't see and face the same things as in other areas or larger cities.

They should be informed about who the director is when its relevant. (Spielberg, Tarantino, Christopher Nolan, Denis Villeneuve, James Cameron, Michael Bay) as they often include patterns and themes across their movies so it would be fun if they get a chance to notice such similarities.

Great movie pick. I'll suggest an extremely fun watch "The 5th Element", it's a very entertaining sci-fi type movie, not sure if you can find the version they need though for language.
it is interesting to see how certain general things are unknown to them, while of course they also know about other things, but you notice that they live in a completely different world, these people. Nice channel to look from different cultures👏

I found this information on this film. Leonardo DiCaprio, in the dinner scene of "Django", really cut himself when slamming his hand down on the table, accidentally into a porcelain tea cup. As he continued to bleed, he completed his over 4 minute monologue. After Tarantino yelled cut, the entire cast & crew gave him a standing ovation.
And Hildys reaction when he was rubbing the blood all over her face was a real reaction. The actress was not expecting that.

you can see the respect the rest of the world has for America. They think we never knew poverty or despair. My mother was born in the blue ridge mountains and she grew up without an electricity, running water or a refrigerator, you had salted meat, Springbox, Icebox if you was lucky and a woodstove. This was 1950s USA so the rest of the world doesnt know we was struggling as well. Plus alot of the world doesnt know about our past of slavery and injustice. You can see no matter what the rest of the world does hold us to a higher standard i feel good when they talk good things about us even with our flaws. Bless them.

I was thinking last night this would be a good movie for them to watch so I am pleasantly surprised!! Glad to see that Raeen recognized Leonardo DiCaprio from Titanic, and is now a fan of his acting. Maybe they can watch other movies that deal with colorism and oppression in America. Malcom X would be a good one. It would be nice for them to see Jaime playing a different role. Ray could be a good movie too!

They're in India, right? Isn't there a caste system there? I don't think it exists legally, but it probably still exists in society and in people's minds.
I remember when watching Interstellar they were talking about all the scientists as being "educated people, not like us". All the same, they're no lesser than anyone else.

It appears that he has several contemptuous reactions when that character chimes in that he doesn’t have towards “Django”, which led me to believe that his caste system would explain the difference in perceptions. No judgements, just found the contrast with the movie’s portrayal of racial prejudice interesting

Tarantino is such a far out, amazing director. It has to be a lot of fun to work with him, he gets the best performance out of actors.
He perfectly balances serious and silly. Realistic and absurdity. He understands how to tell a story and keep people interested and entertained.
May favorite part is the Australians... I did not see that fight coming, and the way Tarantino put himself in the movie just to be blown to pieces after 30 seconds 😂😂😂😂😂.

Hateful 8 was written as the Django sequel that takes place after the Civil War where Django fought for the Union Army, but Django's character was changed to Major Warren played by Sam Jackson because if Django was the main protagonist the plot twists wouldn't have worked, we would have already known Django motives as an ex-bounty hunter and that he wasn't part of Crazy Daisy's gang, Major Warren worked because nobody knew his motives or if he could be trusted, all he had was his fake letter from Abe Lincoln proving he was who he claimed to be.
How many times will the “real fun of the game” come?
These 3 people should see another cowboy films. I recommend The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I hope they will watch that movie before Babu and Raeen get to watch Back to the Future 3 because cowboys will also be shown in it.

How about Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo? That Romeo + Juliet movie was a brilliant modern rendition of the classic, with many awards and nominations for DiCaprio and his costar, the fabulous Claire Danes. (It’s too bad Harold Perrineau didn’t win an award for his performance as Mercutio, too!)
