5:57 , Teru is my favorite guitarist and idol. I was lucky enough to see them perform live twice, and I somehow I caught his pick at that second show. My hand still is shakes to this day thinking of that moment…so, yes? No? I’m not even sure if he is real. I didn’t believe solos like these were capable outside of a recording, but to listen and witness it live… His abilities and Versailles’ music changed my life forever. Thanks for the reaction.
This is absolutely typical of their music and performance. Shows like this run for around 2 and a half hours with two encores. They are that intense and sold on what they are doing for the whole show.
One of my all time favourite bands.
This particular performance at Budokan was a dream of the band from the beginning. Sadly their first bass player passed away from illness around the time they got major label signing. This particular song (and two or three others around it during this show) were dedicated to the bassist, which is why there was such a long moment of silence.
The stain glass in the background changed from the butterfly (the late bass players symbol) to a cherub.
There's a few other nods, most notable the feathers on all their outfits, so the 6th eternal member was there in spirit.
There's a lot of emotion in this set of songs.
One of the very few major label signed Visual Kei bands, and one of the very, very few to play at the prestigious Budokan.
Great reaction, and good fun.
Masquerade live is another good one from Versailles.
There's also a littler band doing the rounds at the moment Neth Priere Cain and their song Valhalla.
Very much worth a look and a listen.
Small addition for the last questions.
Every Visual Kei band has a theme or concept. Some incredibly detailed and elaborate, some just a few words. But they all work to these themes.
Versailles is about the extremes of aesthetics and beauty. They have a vampire sub-plot (shown in many of their music videos), I believe they're called the descendantd of the Rose. Kamijo is the Prince of the Rose, Hizaki princess of the Rose, Teru was the prince of light, Masashi is the dark knight, and yuki the dark prince. I believe Jasmine was the dark princess (this is all a bit sketchy, I saw this in a French language video on the band. Hizaki may have been Princess of Light originally, and switched to the Rose later... I can't remember. I'm sick and old.) anyway, short version, yes there's a lot of meaning behind everything going on.
One fun fact is the band doesn't take themselves as seriously as it appears, I've seen many interviews and behind the scenes and they're just dorks, which makes them even more awesome.
Cheers!
I haven't written a comment this long in years... 🤔
Love this band, if you like please try react Versailles new single VOGUE
Versailles is Visual Kei Melodic Symphonic Power Metal.
I would say Versailles is the only Symphonic metal band from Japan even though some say that Galneryus also is supposed to in this genre.
But I think they are more just straight power metal while Versailles actually uses classical composition techniques in there songs.
So yes this is their style, but also their "magnum opus", however they do got songs that close to this epic.
Such as "God palace", "History from the other side", "Vouge" and "Masquerade" just to mention a few.
The roses are indeed a important part of the band aesthetics, the bands "back story" is that they are all vampires and the roses are representing blood.
Roses are also commonly referred to in the lyrics.
This song (Faith and decision) is however very special to the band, it's the combined work of Hizaki (the one in the red dress) and Kamijo (singer) to commemorate the memory of the bands first bassist that passed away just a few month after they scored a major record deal (Sony).
And yes the live versions are often the best, however the "20th anniversary" versions should be skipped, as this is a mix-up of all the bands that Kamijo has performed with and is not pure Versiallies.
Oh, Versailles is a great symphonic band, their visual kei is stunning.
As you will know by now, Hizaki is - despite the dress - a man. He has his own YT-channel, worth a listen: www.youtube.com/@HIZAKIOfficial
As much as you liked this, you will certainly also like Galneryus. Syu is a monster on that ESP and despite the lightning speed quite emotional too:
Angel Of Salvation: ua-cam.com/video/0IE5HAVaiqI/v-deo.html
Hunting For Your Dream: ua-cam.com/video/6FhmyWT-_0U/v-deo.html
Or Syu doing his own thing with Fuki from Unlucky Morpheus on vocals: ua-cam.com/video/958z1pk9_Ns/v-deo.html
Kamijo. One of the best male vocalists in Metal.
Click like if you wish for A Flor Jensen and Kamijo duet.
Very nice reaction. Lovebites is what it is because before them there was Versailles and Galneryus. You can also check out the GazettE team. They are also a Visual Kei band. It's not as symphonic, it's much heavier metal, darker, but still great live. I recommend The Gazette - Ominous & Undying live w/subs.
Thank you! Will do!
Pardon me, but what is Visual Kei?
@@FahmiIzuddin Visual Kei is a movement in Japanese music concerning visual style ( it is very diverse in terms of music genres). It's clothing, makeup, fancy hairstyles. ( Surely you remember well Kiss, the hair bands of the 1980s.) Visual Kei bands are also often more theatrical, as this is in keeping with Japanese tradition. Surely you are familiar with X Japan and have heard of Buck-Tick or Malice Mizer.
Versailles is such a band, hence their gorgeous costumes. Miyavi and Hyde also started out as VK artists. Extreme bands such as Deviloof, Dexcore, Jiluka also identify with the style of this movement today.
The silence that nearly caught you out is in honour of their original bassist, Jasmine, who passed away.
Yes, they do still exists in a sense.
Kamijo left for a solo career, and they got a new singer and rebranded as Jupiter, but they occasionally perform as Versailles still.
The outfits are based on French Rococo style.
There are a few music videos that are very good.
great reaction

If you like Dream Theater, Nightwish and Epica, this band is for you.
Their concept is that they are Baroque Era Vampires.
Highly recommend Aldious Re:Fie music video.

Love this band.
Note the guitarist Hizaki, the one in the red dress is a man. These guys only wear these costumes in large arena shows, with lights lasers smoke and fire.
When they do small venues they wrar regular street clothes.
All men
Highly recommend checking out their song Serenade.
Versailles never performs in "street clothes". I saw them live in a small venue in 2010, and trust me, they were all in full costume.
@@Champlug A couple days ago I watched a youtube video of them in a small venue maybe no more than 100 people and not one was in their costumes, in fact Hizaki didn't even have his makeup on.
