I love how this song (well the entire album really) is very dark but is made to sound light, like it's nothing important just a little worry in the back of your mind.
This band is truly amazing. I've actually only heard the songs on Fantasies, and this is the first one I've heard from this album. Really amazing, more people ought to listen. Music is Food for the Soul.
Was recently visiting my ancestral homeland (Brooklyn, NY) and this song popped into my head. There's no doubt in my mind this song and maybe the whole album is 100% about living in Williamsburg and inspired by the Domino sugar factory (now a park). No I didn't research it , just get off the L train at Bedford Av and walk down to the waterfront, it will all make perfect sense to you.
something about this band. they were bad live when i saw them.. emily was off-key and i couldn't tell what song the band was playing until halfway through many of them.. but i still sang along to everything. all the songs speak to me. i always come back to them. i don't know.

@@norab.648 what sells me on Williamsburg story is the lyric "dirty diamond dealers pushed behind the ires" which seems to be a reference to the ongoing culture war between hasidics and hipsters in that neighborhood at the time.

It's very hard to say which song is my best since Metric just keep producing great music. I love them all but this one has a special place in me.

It never drives, it never spikes too much, and it carries nicely. This, I can listen to on a daily routine.
Still I wear the red dress, paint my toes and twirl. Take it back to old times when I was still a girl. Love that line.
