- Hey guys! I was so pumped with this Dominator system I had to film a short vlog on it after the test ride.
A couple of notes I forgot - The full HP1 system is 12lbs lighter than stock. The sound check is with the DB killer in. (sold as an add-on) I couldn't find the right size allen key to remove it lol.
Get it here - tinyurl.com/27...
Other engine mods - K&N air filter with airbox snorkel removed and a Fuel X lite.
I've put about 3300 miles on mine so far, wanted to wait until I got a feel for it's quirks before I started changing anything about the engine. But it seems the fuelx is universally lauded as a great addition for these engines, so call me convinced. These dominator exhausts are great too. I prefer a quieter bike, but I can't lie in that these exhausts just sound exquisite
Good vid. I too experienced the same type of improvements from installing a chinese slip on and resonator bypass (header / cat no change). At first I thought it was just placebo from the vastly louder and deeper exhaust note until the first time the front wheel lifted when ripping the throttle in first without the use of the clutch. All up it cost me $180AU. This and spending $800 on front and rear progressive springs and it's a totally different and very capable off road machine, huge fan👍
Very nice! No definitely not placebo. Maybe it's a form of mild OCD but I track my rpms on familiar roads so I have reference points all over the city/mountains for what the bike should be doing based on what it did 100x before.
We not buying Chinese shit
Ive been looking at the Oval verison at 98DB. Thx for the dedicated 390 adv content
Just got a '22 390 ADV and really enjoying your channel. I ordered a bunch of stuff including FuelX Pro+, K&N / DNA Air filters, and the 1-finger mod. This is a cool bike!
Nice!
I’ve just bought a 2024 model so I can’t do any serious modifications to the engine for warranty reasons, but I will fit the Dominator full exhaust system to mine in 12 months time, I don’t want to piss on anybody’s parade but my advice is to go to a tuner and get it dynoed and mapped to your specific needs by a professional because it may seem faster and stronger to you, but you are only guessing, it could be running really lean in places and run the risk of burning out the valves and piston, just saying
@@ericjohnson1472 actually I'm not guessing. If you check out a few of my other videos you'll see that I ride with someone that has a 390 without power mods. We've been comparing our bikes back to back for well over a year and the power difference below 6k rpm is very obvious.
@@furadride852I didn’t mean you were guessing who’s was the fastest and strongest bike, the one with the updates against the one that had none, a couple of sprints and sprint inclines would soon decide and prove that, I meant you were guessing at what the actual mixture ratios were and what the actual spark timing on both bikes were, a slightly leaner running bike will run better, thats until it prematurely burns out !
My advice is not to guess but go to a tuner and get it professionally mapped ACTUALLY ! lol
@@ericjohnson1472 I think you misunderstand what a fuel X does. The bikes run lean from the factory to meet emissions. The fuel X makes the bike run richer.
Appreciate the video. I had never heard of this system, still haven't done anything with my stock exhaust or intake/fuel. Thanks.
Good vid. I’ve been toying with the idea of going with the Fuel X and your vid settled it. Thanks.
you should have bought a DNA air filter, they are the best. nice video, i just bought my 390 adv, and thinking of installing the same exhaust and fuel x lite here in Greece
Nice information sir. Bike sounds amazing. I am planning to go for Fuel x pro, full system exhaust , K & N air filter & dyno run also but I am scared whether the engine still gets damaged even after the fuel optimizer or should I not worry after installing these mods. I am a noob need an expert advice 😊.
Great video and tips! I noticed you upgraded the handlebar and risers. I was curious what did you use (do you have any links?), as from what I've understood the ktm 390 has a uncommone handlle bar size (26 mm) and so it's hard to find bar risers and handle bars that are compatible and did you have to change out the clutch cable as well? Txs!
Yep yep. The 390 actually shares a common KTM mounting patter for the clamps. So I have scar clamps and then I added an additional riser block.
scar clamps - tinyurl.com/mw98wr8m
riser block - tinyurl.com/b6rpr2n
Then you can use any standard size bar. Mine is the protaper EVO which is a little lower. If you got the protaper ADV bars you probably wouldn't need the riser block. You will need to replace the handguards too as they're integrated into the stock bars. I guess I need to just do an upgrades video cause enough people have asked. 😂
@@furadride852 Thanks for the reply and info. Yes if you do a video with your handlebar upgrades with links I do think it will get a bit of views as this odd handlebar size is something that for newbies like me was a bit of a surprise and yet important info to know and have yet not always explained or mentioned in detail. 👍
My man, ty for this video
I was looking into changing from this bike to another after a year with it because of those problems but I know what I should do now ! :D
I bet that buddy of yours is going to get real envious when he realizes that you got your exhaust and not just making a vlog video 👌
Bruuuuh 🤣🤣
Good info glad i found your channel...
I have the same bike
Great content, keep it coming!
Furad, I love your content on the 390, your videos are just what I have been looking for. I will be following your lead in terms of customizing my 390 ADV (2020). I want to get the exact same exhaust as you, do you (or anyone) have any recommendations on where to buy a Dominator HP1 Full Exhaust?
hey hey I ordered mine direct from Dominator.
Sounds good 👍👍
I'm blown away! All other exhausts I have looked I wasn't impressed and this beauty is perfect, also I already have the Fuel X Lite waiting to be installed. Thank you for great content.
I don't have the filter/snorkel mod, would you say it is necessary for this to work?
Thanks for watching!
thanks for the vid.
Great look and sound. I have the same bike. Did the resonator delete and leovince slip on. I kept the stock header as the cats also act as spark arrestors. I have the fuelx and K&N Filter as well. Bike runs and sounds fantastic. Such a fun little bike. Where are you at in Idaho? I am in clarkston WA across the river from Lewiston.
Nice! I'm in Boise.
Could you please make some driving and pass by videos! Love to hear it some more!
Planning on it once the snow melts!
Hi just found your channel I am buying the 390 KTM adventure bike next week brand new maybe listen to you today I should incorporate these modifications cheers from Thailand
woohoo congrats!
Cheers can't wait I normally have racing bikes so a complete change for me
I have the fuelx pro, just did the ebay resonator change (but really want that exhaust), ordered the 1 finger clutch mod you suggested and have my 14 tooth sprocket coming tomorrow... This should be interesting.
I bet that 14T sprocket will be fun.
Can you share the exhaust sound when the bike on the go.😊
¿ How did you program the fuelx?
👍. Cheers. Do u have the db killer in? If so which one please? Looking at buying the same one?
Hey man! Just wanted to ask if you noticed any changes in fuel consumption? Did it improve or worsen?
It's about the same!
I added the FuelX Lite to my 2021 KTM 390 ADV and after the second day of installation the green lights would not appear on the module. The bike also would not start. I disconnected the unit and put the bike back to stock and it still would not start. It sits in the KTM shop now and waiting to hear what caused the bike not to start. I also ordered the Dominator full exhaust system and found that the Blackdog skid plate is not compatible with this exhaust system. What kind of skid plate did you use with your Dominator exhaust system?
how do you like this after a few months? Does it drone at all during highway speeds?
Does the fuel x do everything automatically? You install that and the exhaust and you're good to go?
Yes!
@furadride852 sounds like a fairly easy setup. Thanks for your reply! Ride on ✌️
How much did you buy this?
Thinking about getting this exhaust. What are your dislikes about it ? (CONS)
Uhhh it's hard to sneak out for a ride when my wife takes a nap. 😅
🤣 I heard that
Any luck determining if the fuel x (lite) voids warranty?
Oh it wouldn't because it's just a piggyback system. That is to say, if you need warranty work you just remove it and they wouldn't know you had one.
Did you have to weld anything?
mmm nope
If you change your front sprocket, you're gonna lose a lot of top end.
Actually that's not been my experience. With the stock 15-45 combo the bike was unable to get to redline, and was quite slow in gaining speed after 80mph. With the 14-45 tooth combo, it gets to 90mph much faster, and will slowly climb from there up to redline. I have since changed out the chain and sprockets to a 15-47 combo, it is a good compromise between the two, a little more low speed torque, and not quite as high of revs at high speeds, and still feels more responsive than stock.
I can’t find that exhaust anywhere
lol there's a link in the description.
@@furadride852 thanks man
@@furadride852 also on the site it says “full system silencer” was that the one you got?
@@yorygifilactos7311 yep yep
Done any fueling mods?
yessir it's got a fuel x lite
If i dont use the fuel x lite with the open exhaust system what will i feel the bike or this cause a damage?
@@gombi77 it's not recommended because the bike will probably run more lean with the increased airflow which would make it run hotter.
