  • Today we will be conducting maintenance on the front brakes of a Star 650 motorcycle. This bike only has a single caliper so its not a big job. A good replacement pad I use is EBC FA179HH, though it may require some dealer parts if replacing. 3YX-35929-00-00 and 4BP-25919-00-00.
Note my use of minimal anti-seize and small amount of grease in the dust caps
is not called out in the official procedure, its just something I do.
Brakes should be bled tested adequately before operating the bike.

Give this guy his own show! I’ve been riding about 4 years (5 this season) and have had a few different bikes , I have turned to UA-cam thousands of times and found some great info and videos, but this style, attention to detail, camera work and tips is by far the best I’ve seen yet! 2001 Yamaha star 650 classic , 7,231 miles. Riding from New York to Central Florida in a few days but making a stop to ride tail of the dragon on way down and want to replace brake pads before all the twisties , thanks brother for the amazing video. Rubber side down riders!😎

I bought an 04 vstar 650 classic last year, and have watched every one of your maintenance videos. You basically turned me into a motorcycle mechanic. Sincerely, I Thank You. Please keep them coming. I'm a subscriber for life. And the electronics projects are right up my alley as well. Went to school for elec tech. ended up in IT. Very hands-on, and love to do my own work. All around I like your content. Well done, sir.

Honestly pal I’m not being critical but the transition at 1:11 to start with 10mm bolt was superb. Your extremely talented at your mechanics and if you start to add a little flare imo your videos will be unbeatable. Nice videos I love my 2004 Yamaha xvs650 with 28k miles! I just replaced my fuel pump last week( yes left me dead on the road )

You do an excellent jog illustrating, I have an 03 V-Star 650 classic and a 1982 XJ750J which you also do videos on, hope you’ll do more on both bikes.

Thanks from France ! I was look for which type of brake pads to use on my 2000 one (they didn't like my summer 3500 km trip, I assume they were as old as the bike, 23y...). Now I can exclude ceramic/organics pads, thanks !

Quick question, did you bleed the system after all was said and done?

I have a 02 650 and I think the caliper is seized I’m not familiar with maintenance on motorcycles so will this help the caliper work again?

Someone suggested that you should add more flair to your videos. Respectfully, Don't! They're fine just the way they are. Thank you.
