A true classic. Like 99% of the great British sit-coms, it's a masterful depiction of frustration and failure, with very funny and beautifully turned, often surreal jokes. Sweet, comic pathos. Incredible cast, too.
Owen Fitzgerald Ann wouldn't have hurt Martin as leaving him would have destroyed him. Also Ann knew Paul would have used her as he had all of his other Women. I always got the impression Martin had rescued Ann and helped her get her life on track with some order because something bad had happened to Ann. Awful family or violent relationship? Who knows.
Diesel Fan I agree the show needs Paul, it's just that i never really understood why he was considered a bit of a heartthrob. His smugness always irritated me.
Diesel Fan I know and you can tell that Anne likes him. I suppose he can be quite charming, but he takes the Micky all the time. He's never serious about anything, not my type atall.

My favourite sitcom
We don't want to slip down the Parision route 😂
Peter Egan was and still is very attractive
Peter Egan is gorgeous
Love this series, but why don’t they ever show it on TV?
They did when it was made, but then things fall out of fashion unfortunately. Try looking for it on a channel like UK Gold or maybe, buy some DVDs.
Starts tomorrow Ch20, 5 ish njoy!
Currently showing on Drama, Ch20.
Watched it on UK Drama last week.
There was strong sexual under current between Ann and Paul.

They were going to make Ann have an affair but decided against it as it would have ruined programme and made Paul unlikeable, so glad they didn't
Just loved to have seen paul get his face kicked in.
@@degsbabe he'd probably be a black belt in something
@@degsbabe Have you mistaken confidence for smugness? You sound quite insecure.
3:00 loads of windows about !!!
I didn’t like Paul in this episode
I always much preferred Martin, i never saw the attraction in Paul, that smug grin.😐
He's the foil, the comedy wouldn't work without him.

@@helenwilliams3345 A lot of ladies have commented how fit he is!
