- On this episode of the Guru podcast, we have Steve Ringer and Adam Rooney in the studio to discuss team Guru's 2023 Walterland Feeder Masters victory!
Steve and Adam, along with Robbie Taylor and Frankie Gianoncelli, travelled to Szeged Rowing Course in Hungary. There, they became the first English team to win what is now widely regarded as one of Europe's premier feeder fishing events.
In this episode, we discussed the team's tactical approach to the match, exactly what happened throughout the three days of fishing that led to them becoming the 2023 Walterland Feeder Masters Champions.

About the pear. The bottle is used when the pear is still little, and fit through the mouth of the bottle. The bottle remain on the tree until the pear grows inside the bottle.
And the drink is not wine, but "pálinka" (spirit), probably around 50% ABV. :) Cheers!

It fills me with great pleasure that you enjoyed one of our lakes. Walter Tamás is a legend, and if you meet him in one of his shops, you can ask for guidance, he will give it freely, great man all around.
BTW if you are here for a competition and would like to add some pleasure fishing with a challenge, try the Danube. Beware, it is a nasty beast, usually you have to have atleast 150g lead to stay on the bottom (when the river is calm), the bites are quick, unpredictable and it is like "a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get", meaning mean huge catfish (35lbs and up), to barbel, all the way to bream.
Also, you were so close with the pronunciation of the city Szeged. Dont say the Z at the start (lets not get into the letter "SZ" yea its two letters in one and rules and anyways), say the S at the start like the word "Simple", so like Seged. Trust me you will turn some hungarian heads with it, they will even guess if you are/were a native :D.
3 days 3 match wins ….. that’s why people consider Steve the greatest feeder angler in the world 👌🏻

Brilliant podcast as always, lads and cograts on the recent results. I have a question. The orange guru peaked cap on the desk. I have looked everywhere for them but can't seem to find them. Is it only a prop for the show, or can thwy be bought online or in tackle shops?

The pear is actually grown in the bottle, the empty bottle is put over a budding pear, then taped to the branch

Sharing info on the venue / methods only improves the chances for everyone to catch fish. Catch more fish, increase the exposure of the event and sport, and make all those attending better as well. The better anglers to begin with will always figure it out quicker, tweak it, improve it, refine it.....and be successful.

can someone explain what they mean by fishing over the top. Here in the Netherlands that means fishing 1 meter over your groundbait. do they mean that here too?
