    The Canadian Brass is one of my favorite groups. But as a trombonist, I must admit that I am biased. This performance is fantastic. I have heard many trumpeters play this number. The only one that I believe was any better (marginally) was Rafael Mendez, whom I heard in person. Congratulations to this wonderful group.

    At the risk of sounding like the grumpy old person that I am, I believe that Fred and Ron had a heart that Chris and Caleb do not. IMHO.

    I really like the interaction between the performer and the audience. The appreciation is so obvious - both ways.
    Great performance of course!

      If you like the interaction between performer and the audience, you can go find a performance by Ryan Anthony, the same piece. It is a WOW performance. You will love it.

    yes, he missed some notes...but so what. It sounded phenomenal in the end. Not because every note was hit "perfectly", but because...holy crap...to hit as many as he did at that speed while jumping from high to low is downright amazing. Even more amazing is it sounded cleaner with the piccolo.
    incredible

      they were a generation too late in the hd titles game. :P jokes aside tho really good playing indeed.

    I think if there is a fault that he does not bring out the intended sound of melody plus accompaniment, the fast passages don’t emphasize the first note of each set.

    Awesome player but I would guess this isn't his forte, pulling off fast legato and staccato can show anyone's weakness.

    Il manque une variation, certaines ne sont pas complétes. C'est décevant de la part d'un tel musicien !

  • @eniotnayssaneb3442
    @eniotnayssaneb3442 3 роки тому +2

    I hate so much guy playing it to fast so that people don't see the faults ... but there are many everywhere !
    You aren't better than the others show-offs
    Only Serguei Nakariakov is correct at high speed (though not perfect, but even at low speed no one is perfect)

    • @dragonfyre1589

      Can you play it better??? Sure there was an occasional missed note, but I thought this was a great performance.

    • @eniotnayssaneb3442
      @eniotnayssaneb3442 3 роки тому

      @@dragonfyre1589 it remains a good performance, but I see no point in playing so fast while making so much mistakes. It's just a show off, hoping that people won't see the mistakes and will be impressed.
      Can I do it better ? Not at that speed, but I can play it without mistake at lower speed and I think it will be a better performance, musically speaking...
      And even though, I have no obligation to be able to do better to criticize someone !

    • @bechtelconnie

    • @steveh2579

      While I hate the “then can you do it better” argument, I think you’re missing the point if you think this piece was written for the musicality of it. It’s clearly meant to show off the player’s technical virtuosity and Caleb plays it well and does a great job of doing exactly that. I don’t think anyone with extensive experience of listening to classical music would find it entertaining to listen to the Carnival of Venice played slowly, even if it’s played without any mistake.
