- Ronald Romm, former member of the Canadian Brass Quintet, and acknowledged as one of the pre-iminant trumpeters and clinicians of today, performed Carnival of Venice at the 2014 National Trumpet Competition at Messiah College, Mechanicsburg, PA., on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Webcast, recorded, edited and produced by CYM VIDEO AND PHOTOGRAPHY.
Came for the mustache, stayed for the brilliant performance.
I did too xD
I think moustache makes you embouchure more comfortable
savageslayer3434 a timeless comment
My teacher always plays with moustaches, but I can't
Mr. Monopoly is a master at the trumpet! Lol
lol..he does resemble that banker...just add the top hat..
Hahahaha lol
What about the pringles guy but bald
no stop 😭
My parents have yet to conceive me and this is my warmup
My favorite part of this magnificent performance isnt actually the music itself; my favorite part of this is when he finally ends on that Eb, and smiles! There is so much humility in laughing and smiling at the end of a very great performance
That was an D or an F .
@@Chaomhainn No, they are correct. The final note is indeed an Eb. That is what you're going to hear when you play an F on a Bb trumpet.
3:23 “here comes the triple tongue” what a legend
A master musician and monster on all aspects of trumpet performance, including the often ignored sleeve vibrato :)
Oh my goodness his tone I die for
It's fun seeing some of the trumpet players behind spontaneously enjoy Romm's performance. LOL and some of the other trumpets sitting there all sour thinking, "I could play like that when I was 7 years old, I should be up there instead..."
curious... s2flable are you a musician?
As I have viewed several trumpet players doing this great tune , I remember in my early days in band class the instructor did the intro as a drill . The embouchure is a unique physical muscle . I have seen many great pro players just wailing any like there was no tomorrow. Maynard Ferguson , Chuck Mangione, Louis Armstrong the list goes on and on . All these guys had the chops and skills to be great like Ronald Romm .
Cheers 01/10/2022
I love his facial hair makes him look like someone you'd see in a portrait from the 19th century
I was sick of this piece ... until I heard this superlative performance! None better, that I've heard.
20 years later and still sounds awesome!!
Ronald played this in the canadian brass 20 years ago!
I got to meet Ron and Fred years ago at a clinic. Great guys!
NOTE: always bring your horn to a clinic! I was the only kid who did and I got some great attention from those guys!
Wym? Details plz
RIP Fred Mills.
@@joshuafuentes5411 Often when someone brings their horn to a masterclass of clinic they will be picked to be an example for the ones giving the clinic to work upon. Hope this helps!
@@dylanjmedia715 thank you!
how could I have not known about this!!!!😭😭😭😭 this man is amazing!!
Great performance! Especially from a guy who is so young!
Great solo performance! The Atlantic Brass Band ain't too shabby either!!
I clicked just because I saw his mustache.
Great trumpet, epic mustache
Impeccable execution of some very difficult passages ,bravo .
Perfect performance, for Ronald it was like breathing
Einfach nur schön…😔
Just keeps getting better!
My god... Those tubas..
Es un placer para mi como puertorriqueño que una banda como esa toque una pieza tan popular y conocida mundialmente , gracias al maestro Rafael Hernández “ El Jibarito”
All in the facial hair
Wonderfully, Ronnie!
Очень хорошо рябята играют!!! Настоящие профессионалы. Так держать!!!
Why doesn't this video credit the Brass Band accompanying him? Anyone know which band this is? Sounds very good for a presumed American Brass Band..
Atlantic Brass Band.

Legendary Matt Hartman second chair trumpet
Lyrical? Thy name is THIS performance!
I liked this more than Wynton & John Williams.
Am I crazy?
Yes, because there's a superior version by allen vizzutti
RONALD ROMM
wow!!!
Linda orquestra, gostaria de ganhar um tromprett importado.sou apaixonado por um trompett.eu toco um pouco em uma banda evangélica. Até mesmo que seja usado.vou amar.abraços.boa noite!
Dr. Bach at UNCG practices this song every single day. Or at least that’s what some of his students told me.
He is like Allen vizzuti!
Why some and not me!!
Wow
Did anyone else notice that he wasn't using music.. wow...
Any trumpet player worth their salt knows Carnival of Venice by heart.
Wished Absolutely not picturing you with a monocle holding a tea cup with the pinky up looking down your nose at ppl.
Wished I'm in 10th grade. Is it ok that I don't have it memorized?
Gregory Wolf certain parts of this are always improvised and certain parts need to be memorized. Apparently that's how this piece works
Actually, in the case of this song, the only part that is generally improvised is the end. There are different arrangements, but you can find many trumpeters playing this particular arrangement and the differences will be quite minor, pun intended.
what arrangement of carnival of venice is this
The Clarke version I believe
Ryan Green nope it's the staigers
TrueScore oops nvm then
That is an awesome mustache
Buena cucho!
Damn that's a great moustache (⌐■_■)
👍
I have no choice but to trust that stache
can anyone hear what romm said before the last variation? I can't hear it.
thatoneguy1349 It's not really clear, but something like "here's some triple tonguing" or "here we've got some triple tonguing".
He said, "I forgot to triple tongue", the section which he just played he slurred, but it is supposed to be tongued. That's what he was commenting about.
The Guy That variation is a combination of slurring and double tonguing, no triple tonguing.
"Here comes the triple-tonguing"
How many trumpet player watching this can play the first 10 seconds slurring as good as him or better? To be honest, I can't.
Easy peasy😂
I'm gonna try playing that every time I practise and see what happens in a while lol
Anyone catch what he said at 3:22?
"Now for the triple tounging"
"Here comes the triple tonguing."
Impressive. Didnt hear a single split or fluff.
Long live Paganini!
The intro is half of the video. lol
Does anyone know the chord at 1:34? Id love to know
Sounds like F-Major and Ronald Romm plays a b flat
Sounds like F-Major and Ronald Romm plays a B-Flat

How can he play through that mustache?!
Canadian Bacon He use his mustache to play trumpet:buzzing mustache
yes!!!! mustache daddy!!!!! you go boy!!!
Виртуозно сыграно! Однако у Накарякова играется артикуляционно яснее, точнее без "глиссандированых" переходов на самом деле последующие ноты! Без обид!
esos seis dislakes no saben lo que es la música
esta chido xdxd jajaja
I didn't know santa played trumpet!
My mans looks like a civil war general. Great playing though.
let the Melony Ride Within You , NOT pages ' this stupid has been over, n OVER , Enough "
Another goofball, pot smoking, dopehead, tin eared varmint.
Like I've only heard this a trillion times as if there's nothing else in the music book. Have they never heard of the word versatile?
A decent performance but lacking musicianship. Too straight and void of lyrical interpretation. I prefer the melodical performance by Nakariakov. His is a superior performance in technique, smooth virtuosity in the runs and easy of range at the upper register. Much better musical interpretation and expression where Romm is lacking.
