Hope it's the right fix. Also, if yours is electronic climate control the replacement resistor is approximately $140 if you're in the states. The standard resistor is around $50 retail and slightly less on line or ebay. Also there are relays and buss fuses located behind the glove box that run in line with the system also. Cheers.
+C MURPHY Little update here... (now that Fall is clambering in me butt is on the move) replaced resistor (it was rusty shambles needed replaced) and then dash controller cleaned all contacts no go >;-( Maybe a relay aha? Is there such a diagram pic that you know of that show the locations? 1999 eighty eight Olds. thx
Glad I found this. My heater made loud screeching noise and ac belt not hooked up from previous owner. I took out heater and when unplugged, the plug and receptor was melted crusty. Gonna replace it all. Seems my car want to stall when heater is kicked on as well. Could that be the issue as well? Thanks man.
Hello, I have a chance to buy a 1990 Oldsmobile Delta 88. Mileage is 96,000 original and it is white with blue interior. Runs and drives great, but except the a/c blower motor doesn't work and 3 power windows aren't working either. The price is $2,000 is that a good deal?
Hey how's it going man, I have 1990 oldsmobile 88 royale. When driving sometimes the heater / ac will kick on mind you the only controls that work are the air coming from top of dash and the bottom floor ? Also my fuse for my hazard lights keeps blowing ? Could there be an electrical problem the car only has 30,000 miles ? Is there more then one fuse compartment the one by driver side is the only one i know of ? Thanks for any knowledge you feed back to me bro much appreciated.
@@cmurphy678 ok i haven't found any wires messed up yet but i did find at 1:01 in your video the black box you said that was cruise control there are 2 lines that run to that box with air going through them one of mine broke is and air is leaking out of the line is that a big problem ?
i know this video is old but my cars fan runs even when car is turned off. i was told that replacing this will fix this issue. i will replace within the next week. 1988 cadillac deville
Yes. Unfortunately the fan is controlled by electronic thermostat. Some models you can can simply replace the thermostat module itself. Others you have to replace the entire fan.
Also, a temp fix would be simply unplug the fan, or you could run a toggle switch inline and bypass the relay all together. However, without running another relay with the toggle switch you run the risk of electrical fire as the wire would constantly be hot.
@@cmurphy678right now i just unplugged. easier than disconnecting battery. so do you think i will have an issue even if i replace the blower resistor module??
@@cmurphy678 thank you for your input. i disconnected three different relays associated w ac but any disconnection and the fan was still blowing after i turned car off
What was the problem you were trying to correct? The reason I ask is because my '93 98 is blowing full all the time, even with the key off and removed, any help out there?
The issue with this particular vehicle was the motor not working at all. Initially I replaced the the fan/motor itself first but that wasn't the issue. Next was the blower fan resistor. That may be the issue with your car as well. The problem is there are so many factors involved in the operation of the a/c system and they are all located in various places. It boils down to a process of elimination. Some components are located under the hood, while others are located behind the dash.
Bravo mate! Hope this could be my fix! I turned the fan dial the other day and no motor at all. Cheers

C MURPHY Right on; no climate control, good news on me wallet! I'll keep you savvy to my out come. Great vid BTW

Try googling it. Other than that, try downloading the cars manual.
+C MURPHY Just scored on Google. Peace!

Car wanting to stall when heater is on...is it overhearing when this occurs? Also check the heater core.
this was what i needed to see thanks !!
I know I'm late but what you called a control box for the cruise is a vacuum reservoir

There is another set of fuses behind the glove box. These are bus fuses and relays.
Also sounds like you may have a short, either ground or melted wires, or possibly even corrosion causing your Hazzard lights to pop fuses.

Maybe. Depends on if you want to use your cruise control or not.
my heater control stay at one level and I change my blower motor resistor. my car is a 85 Oldsmobile 98 3.8 motor

@@fredkremer602 if it turns out to not fix the issue, try the relay. On my vehicle it was located behind the glove box.

this is actually a regulator you described
My heat and air is not blowing at all! I wonder if this is the reason 🤔
More than likely.
