    Excellent. This video started being excellent when he said "I just think it sounds good" - THAT is the spirit of creativity, innovation, experimentation, and ultimately fun in the studio.
    For my personal taste there's a hair too much muddy overlap rumble in the low mids and the hammers sound added by the SM57 is a hair too noticeably clicky, but, undeniably, it's a sound full of character and it may work perfectly in certain tracks or production.
    Also, agreeing 101% on his thoughts on committing at the source, and about the different enjoyment & flexibility of driving hardware harder, by ear.

    Lovely job on that piano. For eq plugins, you might want to check out Kush's q632, they licensed the old Magpha code. The bass is whatever, but the midrange and top is special, and you can push it hard, harder than any other plugin wants, and it just does its thing. I'm a hardware eq junkie, you don't have to explain the difference to me, but the q632... dunno, it's different.
