Those 80’s and 90’s VAGs were really durable cars and could handle lots of abuse for many years. That’s probably one of the reasons why they were so popular in Eastern Europe.

According to Wikipedia, one of the attractions of the site to VW is that it was very close to the East German border and in a no-fly zone. The border's still on the map (the Niedersachsen/Sachsen-Anhalt state line) and it is very close but a long way from being right on it with several villages in between, notably Zicherie-Bockwitz which is almost contiguous and Brome which is a tongue of land surrounded by the border on three sides.

Aquellos tiempos donde los fabricantes se preocupaban de la fiabilidad y durabilidad de sus modelos. Hoy, ninguno de los modelos de los que figuran en el vídeo, tiene etiqueta medioambiental, y por tanto "no pueden" utilizarse. Hay que comprarse uno nuevo que no tendrá la fiabilidad y duración de éstos. Consumir y consumir...Pero eh! Que dicen que es por el medio ambiente.

Pretty impressive, most manufacturers dont have this amount of their own proving grounds. I wonder if VW rents out the track for other manufacturers. Btw. being a test driver is pretty much a dream job for some manufacturers i would definitely do it for free
