A ‘bare all’ travelogue of dividend investing. Thanks, two comments: 1. Interesting because the great stock investors and money managers such as Warren Buffett tend to be a bit secretive about what they buy. 2. High dividend paying stocks can be a ‘value trap’. It can be better to but a quality growth company with lower dividend yield that has a solid earnings growth story with growing dividends. It can lead to a more sustainable dividend that will grow relative to the initial stock purchase price. An example - Westfield Holdings management company that built the shopping centre empire has a very low headline dividend yield compared to the individual Westfield REIT. However the growth of its dividends in the management company eclipsed that of the REIT after a few years and the stock was a multi-bagger. Just one example.

For people who haven't visited Asia the growth rate there is on steroids. Every time I go back to Bangkok they've completed a few more BTS stations. In contrast back home in the PNW they've been working on the rail system for my entire life (40+ years) and we'll all be dead before it's finished haha.

A ruling is making men return to Ukraine if they need to replace their passports - but then they risk being drafted into the army. So Ukrainians living abroad for decades have to fly back to their country if their pass expires. Maybe do a video about that and importance of diversification.

If your dividends don't pay more than the monetary inflation of the currency (which has historically been ~6% for the USD), then the dividend by itself cannot justify buying the stock. Very few stocks pay dividends like this. Obviously, if two stocks have the same price appreciation, but one pays dividends and the other doesn't, then the dividend stock is better. But if you are actually gaining in purchasing power, and your dividend is less than 6% USD, then you are gaining in purchasing power through the asset price appreciation, and not the dividend.
Having honest money is the foundation of all large-scale economic activity between strangers, and we don't have this foundation right now. That's why the world is going to H3ll. It's also why all of my excess cash is in crypto and precious metals. I'm not a millionaire yet, but if crypto keeps doing what it has been doing, then I will be.
