    Oooh. I LOVE using sprigs!! I made a big slab and pressed my nephews flowers from his wedding into it. Now I’m sooo afraid of firing it because it’s so darn big! I plan on pressing slabs into to make them a set of cups and a vase. Then I can use it in the future as well. Their wedding was last October!! Hahaha. Thanks so much for all of the ideas as always ann. The shells are so fun!! OMG THE leaf idea is sooo cool!!! With all of the latex molds out there now there are a zillion things you can make to press into clay. The only thing is that everyone else has the same ones. I love the homemade iseas!!

    just love the bamboo skewer effect, you could also make a sunrise or sunset pattern, i to love celtic designs, the leaf was good but it looked better once you deepened some of the grooves. Thanks Ann

    Some of your techniques gave me an idea for making a mold for insect wings. It's typically done with silicone but that's quite difficult to get a good imprint or trying to replicate by hand. It's worth a try as UV resin is a one shot deal; it can't be recycled.
    Again and again your ideas blossom in other minds. 😊

      Hey Lamardon. What a great idea. I dont know if the veins of wings are a low relief, but if they are it would be worth a shot to try. You got my brain blossoming now, haha. Thanks for that. and thanks for watching 🙂

    I’m sure you’ve already tried this but…That one sunburst that you used for an insert.. a larger version of that would make a cool spout for a pitcher.❤️🐝🤗

    Hi, here's a challenge for you.
    Water marbling with underglazing, where the colour is floating on top of water and than the items slowly submerged thru the marbling and the paint goes on the item.
    I've see it done on paper, plaster, and various other items, thought it would be a cool finish on bisque ware.
    Cheers

      Hi Christine. I know what you are talking about. I have seen a lot of people do the hydro dipping thing too, so i did look it up. I was hoping it was something that could be done with like underglazes etc, but unfortunately it is more of a finish for items. In other words, I would need to complete the whole pottery project and then do the dipping. It really isnt specifically a pottery technique. It is more of a piece of kind of watersoluble plastic with a colored image printed on top of it where you float the image on the water and the slowly submerge the piece so the image is captured on the piece. Im not sure what the piece would feel like (would it feel plasticy). or would you need to varnish it once the colors are adhered to the piece?? But I think if you tried to fire it on to the piece it would burn off. Im just not sure...I will have to do more research. thanks for the idea Christine. I love a challenge.

    Hi Ann, Thanks for your excellent videos sharing techniques with clay! I'd like to ask on this video, is there a special reason that you used slip to get the imprint of the leaf?

    • @annruel1982
      @annruel1982 4 місяці тому

      Hi Gwen. thanks so much for watching. The leaf is too thin to get a good impression around the edges and I needed to get a thicker border to get a good impression with the clay. I couldnt press the leaf down into the clay very well as it was too delicate, so I thought maybe I could press the leaf down into the thick slip easier. That worked. I still had to flatten the slip down a little and then make the veins a bit deeper, but it worked to create a nice sprig in the end. I hope that answers your question. Ann

      @JohnLowes 4 місяці тому +1

      Not Ann, but my guess is the leaf is too delicate to push into the slab to get a good impression and the slip forms the border for the sprig too. 👍🏻

      @@JohnLowes Hi John. You are so right. That is exactly why I chose to try this with the slip. :-). thanks for watching.
