A lot of people in comment saying Bini was the clearly the best but remember, sprinting in the draft is always going to make you look good - Ewan looked good untill he hit the wind, if he goes sooner he still doesn’t win because he uses up his energy trying to get to the front wheel. If he was on Sam’s wheel it’s close and maybe he does a better job than Ewan and Bauhaus but overcoming the bigger and more powerful Whelsford who’s enjoyed an easy ride to the front is a tough ask.
Exactly hence why he was so bad last year in the tour. He just doesn’t have the the power like just look at his legs in terms of size compared to a philipsen, Jakobsen, welsford, greoenewegen etc
@@loveelroi4453 If he was the best man he would of won... It is well known riding in the draft you need about 30% less watts. At high speed thats even more. Lets say Welsford is doing 1500 watts * for a big pure sprinter thats quite likely). That means Bini only needs to do about 1050 to keep up. Now he is closing fast but still is probably only is doing 1300-1400 watts. The second he comes out the draft his speed will stall much like Ewans did (if you watch Ewan initially pulls out and is going faster but slows when he isn't in the draft). If he is closer and times it right maybe he can use his momentum to get past at the right moment but I think it unlikely he beats Welsford in most situations. He was behind the winners back wheel he still needed another 4-5 seconds to overtake Whelsford which means he has to jump earlier before Whelsford starts his sprint. It means he is probably in the wind for far longer and therefore does not go as fast. Sprinting is not all about power, positioning and being able to fight for position is a significant factor and one of Bini's biggest weakness's. Bini is a great rider and what he is doing by encouraging a broader audience in cycling around the world is fantastic for diversity and growing the sport but he is classic's style sprinter. He needs a long attritional day and a reduced group where lead outs and positioning are not as big a factor to perform best.
Bini was the fastest racer today. If the race had been just 10 ft further he would have won in my opinion. He was still accelerating at that point and everyone else was done. He went from sixth to third (almost 2nd). Intermarche has to get the train organized for Bini. Congratulations to all the riders for a wonderful race and fantastic finish.

Bini came from sixth wheel with more acceleration than Wellsford and Ewan, I disagree that his issue is power. If he were better positioned, his power would have gotten him the win, full stop.
@@bencantread I disagree I think was just good positioning with maybe bad timing. There’s no way he’s got enough power like look how skinny his legs are compared to pure sprinters. Philipsen, Jakobsen, groenewegen, welsford, kooij, Milan, merlier and cavendish etc can generate significantly more power. Hence why Girmay last year couldn’t compete in sprints, he just doesn’t have the build or physiology to be a pure sprinter like I say you can tell by his skinny legs
@@danielmacdonald721 i disagree, The issue about Bini is not a skinny leg, he has power and full gas, last year we have seen him his capability to sprint from distance, and he outsprints many great sprinter's who you think they have big leg. The only problem he encounters is positioning. And his team are good but they have to work harder on that.
Today it would have been BINI 100% if he didn’t delay for a bit and I 100% know this he knows that too .. 3rd place amazing bini 🇪🇷🇪🇷🇪🇷🇪🇷 but he left it a bit late mate .. 😊
Caleb style is so counterproductive. His rear wheel is losing traction all the time due to all his bodyweight is on the front wheel. Why nobody in his team is not telling him that that is not the most effective way to sprint? Imagine how much faster he would be if he actually optimizes his style..
It became less aggressive last few years, then he seems to have gone back to more aggressive position this year though not as extreme as his earlier days. Anyway, he still seems to be trying to find the right posture, he's a tiny guy and he's got to do it unorthodox way to fight against bigger guys, I felt he just kicked off too early this afternoon, unless it's a sprint with a gradient he better stay on the wheel as late as possible.
@@AquidoSquidoHe is like mountain biker who is pedaling outside of the saddle all the time on a steep climb with loose gravel spinning his rear wheel all the time. Makes no sense.. All he needs to do is move back with his ass a little back. So he is not losing traction all the time..
@@brotherfranciz Hehe no I am not saying everyone should stay on the saddle when sprinting. It was just comparison. Another example of losing traction.. I said what he needs to do. Not positioning his body so much forward so there is more weight on his rear wheel. So he doesn't lose traction... Aerodynamics is useless if you are losing traction of your rear wheel and your tire is slipping like on the ice lol..
Without a lead out you did very well Bini, amazing job
Wow! Look at Bini! Started the sprint so far back and accelerated so Quick!
Just needs a real team. Guy is a beast
@@alpsalishyou spot on lad; he must swap a team for having better luck
Oh Bini came from no where to be in the second place ❤❤❤
Great leadout from Bora, and nice late sprint from Ghirmay.
Indeed it is!
It was a perfect leadout at the end!
yeah!!!!!!
My Favourite rider is Binni, clean rider and professional.
Great job Bora and Wellsford grabbing the S1 win.
Have a look on the overhead camera of Girmay's finish!
Indeed what a finish by Girmay!? 👌👏Well done Biniam Girmay!! Congratulations Eritrea!! ❤🇪🇷❤
Bini left it too late. That was powerful pedaling. 🎊bini 🎉to Sam as well
He had to overtake the Trek rider, otherwise he could have won.
He just needs a team that will help him.

Bini had the legs, but awful positioning. A sprinter is nothing without a leadout
