Gallatin River Trail Virtual Hike - Montana Virtual Walking Trails for Treadmill by City Walks

Today we take you on a virtual nature trail along the Gallatin River near Bozeman, Montana. It's one fo the lesser used Bozeman hiking trails but it is just across the river from the road. Hwy 191 runs between Belgrade and West Yellowstone along the Gallatin River. This snowy virtual walk gives lovely views of the river and mountains. Virtual walks for treadmill provide a nice escape from daily stress of quarantine life. Hang in there. This virtual walk is not an actual city walk like the name implies but I'm branching out a bit since we have such great hiking trails in our area. Henry this trail is fantastic. It's nice the forest service cut some logs and placed them along the trail. So happy there is PUBLIC ACCESS for our entertainment and education. With peripheral neuropathy my only walking is on my Exerpudic treadmill. Your travels sure make my 30mins fly by. Keep it up

You mentioned in this video about doing some more virtual walks around the Red Lodge area. You might also want to consider heading a little further into the Bighorn Basin region, just 75 miles south of Billings. One prehistoric and historic trail to try sometime is the Bad Pass Trail in Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area near Lovell, Wyoming. The trail is marked with rock cairns that define a paleoIndian trail that is roughly 10,000 to 12,000 years old. The trail was a well-known route to travel between the Yellowstone River region down into the Bighorn Basin and beyond. The trail is located between the spectacular cliffs of Bighorn Canyon and the Pryor Mountain Range of wild horses fame. It was used by the people of the Cheyenne, Crow, Lakota, and Shoshone tribes as well as many of the fur traders and trappers, such as Jim Bridger and Jedediah Smith. It was used in later years by outlaws and rustlers hiding out in the remote Garvin Basin across the canyon. Today, you can follow the rock cairns for a number of miles along a rocky plateau between the canyon and mountains and see bighorn sheep, golden eagles, and wild horses. There are also historic tipi rings marking the sites of many tribal encampments through the years. I've provided a link to the Bighorn Canyon NRA website that discusses the Bad Pass Trail and other historic and natural resources of the canyon. Another region to explore is the Sunlight Basin north of Cody, Wyoming, with its many scenic trails around the Clarks Fork River. Your virtual walks are great!

Hi! What a lovely trail leaving from a lay-by across the road. Stretches of nice rugged boulder field (glad you didn’t twist an ankle) good snow, river and forest. The thumbnails don’t do much for me, I have about 116 people I subscribed to and quite faithfully revisit. I am quite new to UA-cam, I haven’t even worked out how to do custom thumbnail ! Thank you for sharing your back story. I'd have a million other questions for you about places you've lived but this isn't best forum for that. When I'm looking for walking videos, it's almost always a specific location I'm searching for, and I'm honestly put off by anything that sounds clickbaity. I actually originally came across your channel because of a racing video game that is set in Edinburgh. I wanted to see more than a video game rendering of the city, so I searched UA-cam for Edinburgh and found of video of you walking around early morning Edinburgh searching for an open coffee shop. I could relate. You're like the Bob Ross of walking videos: pleasant, positive and calming. I'd be interested to see an abandoned Montana mine if you could safely access one. Montana reminds of Vermont but on a larger scale. Thanks again for the walk.
I'm going to put the "Bob Ross of Walking Videos" on a t-shirt! Love it. I'll keep an eye out for a mine. I think I might be able to take a tour of one in Butte. Not sure I'd have to go into one just in the hills, though they exist. -H
What do I look for in a thumbnail. Under an hour, an obvious up hill - to me that means I'll be varying my treadmill incline, if I'm feeling warm that day I'll do one of your snowy ones, if I'm cold - I'll scroll down for a warm weather, I'll pick trails over towns and if I see a dog in the thumbnail thats a quick yes! Speaking of, do you know any virtual treadmill walkers that walks with a dog? I love watching a dog walk in front of the walker - its like induced happiness 😊

public access. agree with you about public access. we live in England in the Midlands about 10 miles from the Peak District National Park which is beautiful rugged scenery, but not quite as rugged as Montana. In 2000 we went on our first long haul holiday, which was Alberta, Canada and Montana and Wyoming, absolutely stunning scenery

HI Henry, Thoroughly enjoyed this walk The commentary and life history was great. With your commentary throughout the walk it seemed pass quickly. As I told you recently I am in the UK. I am 83 years old and a number of years ago I suffered a heart attack. On recovery I was advised to walk as much as I could so ever since I have walked at least 2 miles a day and sometimes more. When covid hit us I still went for walks with mask and social distancing. However some people I met on my walks were not adhering to the rules so I decided it was too dangerous for me. I bought a treadmill and put a large screen PC up in front of me and looked for walks for treadmills and that is when I found you. I love these walks and I do not mind when you sweep the camera from side to side it makes it more interesting. If you can do a commentary on each it would be excellent. Incidently my middle name is Henry. also today it was announced that two further vaccines have been found , one in the UK and one in Belgium. We will beat this covid. secret word, Public Access

Hi Ginny, I've certainly been to Glacier NP several times but not since I started filming walks. I have good intentions of getting up there to film but the entry system has made that more difficult. Plus it's about 7 hours away. I still have high hopes though. I"ve been through the UP several times but haven't filmed there either. I'd like to take my family through there once summer. Such a beautiful part of the country. -H

Have you ever considered doing some nature walks up in Canada once the borders open back up? I'm sure the views would be spectacular. Also, if you ever do get back to NC, my home state, the Appalachian trail, Blue Ridge Pkwy, and Asheville(and other mtn towns)would make some great places to film. Just feedbacking some ideas🙂
