Zoos should be banned and all of the animals sent to sanctuaries. Zoos are no more than prisons, with no chance of parole....except that the animals have committed no crime. So very sad. :(
To be honest, With all the poaching going around, Zoo's are actually helping. PLEASE! I BEG YOU TO NOT SUPPORT ANIMAL ACTIVISTS! THEY ARE OUTRIGHT LIARS! Here is proof: www.petakillsanimals.com/top-12-lies-of-animal-rights/ Plus sanctuaries are like the same thing.

I know this thread is old, but the Calgary Zoo (and all AZA accredited zoos) contribute to Species Survival Plans which boost wild populations of animals (the Calgary Zoo helping Vancouver Island Marmots and Whooping Cranes). Although yes, the animals should be in the wild, but they are well taken care of and have constant enrichment options to supplement for less space.

elephants should not be on concrete an they should not be in northern climates. Hosing down an enclosure has nothing to do with proper care. Get those animals out of Canada.
ANGEL FISHER this is where they do it when they train there real area is actually pretty big but this is a room where they do they’re training and plus they got a rhinoceros in there now
You are right Suzuki boy 17, this is only there back are where the keepers can safely train and work with the elephants, they then have a pool, large outdoor enclosure and a pretty decent indoor enclosure with an tree puzzle enrichment
They don't pull hard on the hooks. The animal is big so that just like a tap on the shoulder. "come over here" "Here I am, don't step on me". You do the same with a horse but an elephant is so much smarter so much more complex touch communication can be achieved. There is a huge outdoor compound that they have free and full access to 24/7. This is just the barn and pool area. They go in there for food and the stuff in this video and to get out of bad weather.
Poor elephants have to live on cold concrete and live through winter in Calgary. What a terrible existence for what reason? To draw people in with money..
All bullshit. This is their barn. sleep eat and pool and get out of bad weather. It is heated. There is an huge outdoor compound that they can come and go as they please.
@@Automedon2 I'm in Calgary and we had several elephants including many calfs for decades. They had a massive indoor out door enclosure with free access at will in/out. Below zero weather and snow never even phased them. They actually play with the snow. They should have soft ground not that hard concrete. That's soo cruel. No wonder their feet r cracking. What's with the "training" room? This is just a money making venture on the suffering of elephants kept in captivity
I am so glad you take such good care of your elephant's in captivity.
I love elephants so much 🐘❤️🐘
I went to a "Bath an Elephant" activity at the zoo and it was AMAZING. Nice video guys!
I miss the elephants. Wish they were still here in Calgary
