What makes this version of the song so sad and somber for me is how you can draw a parallel between the original and this version to real life. This is an old song, and if you notice, the crowd is full of people well into their adult years, they've grown old along with it. The original is fun, exciting, and full of energy, just like when you're a young teenager. This version is slowed down, the energy and "youth" of it is gone, but in its place is a tenderness and an almost haunting and melancholic tone to it, which is indicative of getting older. You slow down, you've expended your energy, you're less upbeat and reckless, but you're more aware, sensitive and tender, and what was once the youthful thoughts of invincibility and now replaced with a growing realization that you don't get to live forever, and time is short, growing shorter every day. So needless to say when i look at this song in that way, it adds this extra sad depth to it for me

I feel so blessed to have been a teenage girl in the 80s and proud to be a massive fan of Aha from the beginning ❤ Such a shame after all these years their genious and talent is getting the recognition it so truly deserves as opposed to their pretty boy image back then Such massively talented guys God bless you Aha long may you continue to fill our luves with joy❤❤

thankyou for reacting to AHA i love this version of take on me than the original version. it’s so different. ive been an AHA fan since 1985 when take on me was released i was 16 years old then i’m 53 now and still a big fan of theirs. AHA are a very underrated, unappreciated band from Oslo, Norway. I personally believe people don’t take AHA seriously because they come from Norway. The band have a huge back catalogue of music so i hope you’ll continue to listen and react to AHA’s music. what i love most about AHA’s songs is that every single one is different from the last one. Take care and stay safe 😘🇳🇴❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Btw - did you know a-ha got world record in Rock in Rio in 1991 with 198 000 paying audiences, and no American journalists reported about it? The other bands had 60 000, and were heavily reported. Is it because they were not American or English?

I was 12 when a-ha released take on me. I’m now just 50. I’ve been an a-ha fan since the beginning. Have seen them live many many times. Yes they are still together 😁

This version is so beautiful. Like the young "take on me" is happy flow and getting older the "take one me" gets a song of emotion that life is going to an end. But on the other hand they are getting a new album ready.

You react to some great songs, thanks Lynette. The stripped back unplugged version gives space for us to really take in the meaning of the song, as with another Norwegian singer that we know so well.. You may not get thousands of views, but you bring the joy of great songs and singers that we few can really appreciate...

Our "Tiny" Norway is about 5 million people. Same as Trinidad & Tobago :) Our two countries also share industrial knowhow (petroleum industry). I know very well about Trinidad & Tobago, and your history. Very impressive little island country.

I never understood this song until this version came out (I think with the production version, there was so much going on that I missed the message of "I'm shy but give me a try..."

I didn't see it on MTV I came across it on UA-cam,and the lyrics were interesting, and slowing it down fit the lyrics better. About someone who is in and out of your life and you know they will never be permanent, kind of sad. I loved the reaction.

Oh it reminded me of so much of my younger years...but I think I am much more sentimental as my BD is tomorrow, lol

They weren't a one hit wonder. The USA stopped playing their wonderful music for some reason. They have many albums. I love them and have recently bought their other albums. Oh, when MTV actually played music. This one was recorded in Norway.

you should take a listen to AHA song Summer moved on it’s a live version too and it’s one of my favourite songs. it’s also a slightly more recent song from the 2000’s. It’s in the guinness book of records for the longest note held by a vocalist, Morten Harket. The band are in their early 60s now but still wonderful. The song was about the band members feelings when they split up and was recorded on their farewell tour. I’m from Scotland. I’ve loved AHA since take on me in 1985 and i was 16 years old then i’m 53 now and love them just as much as i did then. Take Care and stay safe 😘🇳🇴🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
