I live in Central Louisiana and just recently found your channel. It's good to learn from someone in the same zone as me. I learned a lot from my neighbor but your videos really helped me out too. Thank you.
Welcome aboard! Thanks for your comments as sharing knowledge of gardening is my passion and the mission of my UA-cam channel! Let me know if you have any questions!!! Thanks again, Darrell!!
You aren't kidding. Looks like 30 deg for 2 hours and 32 or below for 6 hours. We were gone over the weekend so just got back about noon. I've been out putting my freeze protection out. Hope it works!! But, if not, we will keep on gardening!!!!
Looks like we might get another hard frost, maybe freeze this weekend. Might lose my early-planted snap beans, but all my nightshades are still in pots (getting more and more root-bound) waiting for this cold snap to pass.
Erin and I were at the Amite Oyster Festival this weekend, making memories as I like to say. Nevertheless, we got home around noon today. I just got in from putting up the hoop houses and agfabric for some of my beds and put pots and buckets over everything else. Hopefully, everything will go good for us tonight!! Remember, lucky and/or paranoid works in this case, LOL!
Hi, I was anxious to get my plants in the ground after finding the vermiculite! Our temps are getting low this weekend, how are you going to protect your young seedlings?
I have something called AgFabric which gives you like 6 or 7 degrees protection. I put rebar in the ground and place some pvc tubes across the bed stuck on the rebar. Then I put the agfabric on that. I have a video on that from year or 2 ago. Cover you plants with some plastic pots or buckets. That will help. Then, place a sheet, towel or even a tarp or something like that over that. Hope this helps!

@@LouisianaSimpleLiving I was throwing ag fabric over beans, potatoes and blueberries. Almost had enough
I thought I had enough but need to get me another 50 ft or so for next winter.

Actually, that’s exactly what I did, cover with buckets, sheets and towels. Thanks!
