My Xbox gets played every day because of cross save, cross progression, and I get both Xbox and PC versions of games when I buy or use Game Pass. My rooommate has an Xbox and PC in the living room. I have both in my bedroom. My friends across the country have the same, and we all go back and forth easily depending on whether we want console convenience or extra performance on PC, because playing on one is the same as playing on the other in regards to cross progression/saves. You can't get all those things and all that convience, all the same options on both platforms, with PS/PC.

Sony really got all of us out here at 11am on a Tuesday Morning, hyped up their overpriced console, threw around a bunch of tech bro terms, gassed up their footage as proof of a huge upgrade to the base PS5, _and then proceeded to show almost just cinematic cutscenes of already released games..._ Hell, Jedi Survivor is coming out on the bloody PS4 in a few weeks, _wtf were they thinking?_
Sony just gave us what might've been the greatest 10 minute advertisement for PC gaming ever made, cuz there's; No 4k gaming at 120fps, No Backwards Compatibility, No UI QoL changes No additional External SSD Port $700 USD And the disk drive is sold separately... Then there's PC where you can decide on how much you want to spend, don't have to pay extra for any type of online subscription bs, can use any controller you want, _and_ you get an actual Computer to do other stuff from multitasking on the web browse to talking with friends on an actual good communication platform like Discord while streaming your game to them. If this ain't a crowning endorsement for PC gaming, than idk what is.
This is a item for a niche audience. It's literally that simple. PC has a ton problems too like newer games being horribly optimize, launchers, people using torrents and rat programs, dealing with windows, memory leaks, uses way more power, digital only which goes against your "no disc drive" argument, requires tinkering for many things not just games etc. Console will always be about plug and play which the average consumer still enjoys especially after a long day.
The PS 5 pro is a low volume piece of equipment. I am not buying it because I don't even use my PS5 but I am still interested to see what it does in real world tests. It also says in the disclaimer performance is based on certain games. It is just like AMD dropping out of the high end GPU market and getting crushed as always NVidia rapes it's consumers with GPU's that go for 1500 and that is finally down to MSRP they were at 2000.00. I paid 850.00 for a great high end card but no way should it be 850.00 but there isn't competition in the PC gpu market. The same happened with the console war.
You will not get 4k at 120 that is reserved for very high end gaming rigs not a console and it won't be native 4k especially with 120fps there will be some type of Frame generation that is very efficient at upscaling from 1440p.

Optimization is horrible everywhere both on console and PC Jedi Fallen Order was horrible for some on both sides the new Star Wars was bad but Massive jumped right on it. Launchers can be disabled on start up and only run when you need them. You can disable overlays on launchers. If you want to go to a torrent site that's on you I don't and never will use torrents. Windows is windows once you get it down you work with it but yes it is bloated. With a PC I can (tinker,yes I love having choices) I can enhance things like shadows or fog or lighting because PC has tons of options some enthusiasts like to tinker PC gamers most certainly do or we wouldn't do it. I can take a game that is 20 years old like FAr Cry 1 or Half Life 2 and mod it out to look like a modern game but keep that old school feel and have tons of choice from difficulty setting to weapons. I can go back and play Doom 3 in direct X 12 because a team of modders has worked on a conversion mod for 7 years and it looks like a modern game. PC gamers are a different breed with different hardware it's apples and oranges. Consoles are good for power on choose quality or performance or sometimes you don't have a choice. I do like having my console to lay in bed and play on a big screen Oled tv which really makes the console look good. Yes the PS5 pro is for a niche audience but will it be for a audience thar spends money and gets something worth it in return or will it be just to say you have it? TBD because even if you trade a ps5 in you still will pay 400.00 for a upgrade so I need to see it in a real world app but to say it is a game by game and you know they are going to rehash the same games everyone has played 5 times.
@@cameronramey9667 It isn't doubtful at all. The PS5 versions of space marine 2 runs at a 15 to 20% worse frame rate than the Xbox series X version. It almost never hits a steady frame rate now. The PS5 Pro CPU is the exact same CpU as the PS5. You also have to keep in mind that the CpUs on the consoles are missing a lot of cache compared to their desktop counterparts making them more comparable to laptop CpUs. Sony had even more cutbacks in comparison to the Xbox series X CPU side.
@@shredenvain7 That doesn't necessarily mean it's a CPU bottleneck. The X is 12 TFlops compared to PS5's 10 TFlops so that's about the performance difference one would expect. We already saw frame rate improvements in the presentation so I guess we'll see. I don't think I'll get one anyway but I'll be interested to see what it can actually do rather than listen to baseless Internet speculation.
@@cameronramey9667 It does mean it's CPU bound because the frame rate worsens the more NPCs there are on screen. Digital Foundry has a great video discussing it. The PS5 and Series X versions both run at dynamic 1080p 60 target in performance mode. If it was GPU bound the series X would run with a higher average dynamic resolution. It doesn't.

I completely agree with you here, this is the result of what happens when Sony gets to be number one for way too long and becomes too arrogant. The scariest thing about all of this, isn't even just the price, it's the fact that Sony even considered shipping out a console in the first place that doesn't have a disk drive, much less it being the only option for this model in the first place. There is no 'PS5 Pro,' then 'PS5 Pro Digital Version,' the discless version is now _the standard_ and the disc drive is a whole another purchase. And the worst part? _They will only go lower from here..._ This entire debacle is a deliberate plan by Sony so that they can gauge whether or not they can fully go in on the All digital forefront next generation, and abandoned physical media entirely. And to be honest, I won't even be surprised if in 2027 and above, the PS6 and next Xbox are fully digital, with no option to even buy a disc drive separately... Gme preservation everyone, it is a battle that is becoming more and more apparent to each of us and is one that we are unfortunately losing cuz these businesses just want a little more extra money from our wallets. I heard Xbox did a similar thing by releasing a digital edition series x for $600 with no hardware changes at all so PS5 PRO is $100 more expensive and has 5 teraflops more raw power and me personally I'll sell my digital edition and get it for $500 if it going to give me raytracing on PSVR2 games and allow me to play GT7 in 8k mode then I am sold I spent more on my PSVR2 headset than I did on my ps5 console I bought to power it and Nintendo will be the biggest competitor Switch 2 might totally out sell playstation 5 next year when it releases

Here's the funny thing. Everyone, including Sony, is underestimating what Xbox is cooking up for their next hardware. When the next Xbox drops its going to make waves and they will have a game or two that will make that hardware look really good. I think is pointless to nitpick right now. People with doubts or issues with the price etc aren't gonna run to pre-order it anyway. So how it really performs and what it can do it will be fully shown once it comes out and all of us will see and decide if it's any worth it or not.
Xbox doesn't need a Pro mid-gen refresh. They will just get a year or more jumpstart on the next Gen, when Sony will either be stuck with their mid-gen refresh or lose a ton of money forcing their way to next Gen earlier than they want. Sony management isn't thinking straight.
I think Microsoft is playing 3D chess by deciding not to make a Series X mid gen upgrade. They could have a complete next generation Xbox ready to go 2 or 3 years after the PS5 Pro launches. And potentially at a better price. That's the competition we need to see.
That is not 3D chess. That is them shiiiting the bed and trying to make up for it. They are selling badly when they release with Sony so they need to try and get ahead a little like they did with Xbox360 but the most serious reason they want to jump in new generation faster is because they are stuck with the bad decision of Series S and their promise to it's buyers that all games will be playable on it. The only way to finally be excused to kill the Series S is by jumping to a new generation.

I'm actually surprised Sony didn't attempt to sell the HDMI cable separately also. I'm convinced Sony is out to just remake consoles and games over and over again because their fan base just hands over their money without question for anything with the Playstation brand on it. But then the Ponies rip on Xbox for raising the Game Pass subscription price $3 a month for Ultimate. Very hypocritical.
The stand is actually $29.99. And after taxes just for the console here in Texas you're looking at around $757 (no disc drive). Where I'm at tax is 8.25%. So even roughly you're looking at around $845-850 with the disc drive and if you want the stand roughly around $880. Not even including PS Plus or an extra controller if you don't have those. Sheesh.

They are different markets, so the comparison doesn't work. A better comparison is PS3. It did not sell well until Sony dropped the price with the Slim then Super Slim and until Sony changed their behaviour. There is a similar negative reaction now as there was back then.

The only significant difference I spotted in the side by side video is that FAR distance objects look clearer. Details that don't really matter too much... yes looks slightly better but not by much.
Thinking back on the PS3 reveal and I realized something. The difference between now and THEN is that when they revealed the PS3, they were live on-stage so they got a front row seat to the backlash from fans. This time around they're safe behind their 9 minute UA-cam stream.
PS2 sells more than any console ever. Sony thinks they can charge whatever they want for the PS3. PS4 and PS5 outsell Xbox 2 to 1 and Xbox ports their games over to PlayStation. Sony thinks they can charge whatever they want for the PS5 Pro.
Graphically, we are where we should be. Performance is what needs buff. No no stuttering, no pop-in, no FPS drops, and minimum 60FPS native should be the priority.

I've been reprogrammed to be uninpressed by graphics. I've not enjoyed a AAA graphics game in a long, long time. Unless you count the metroid prime remaster. The industry is offering graphics over everything else, and it shows.

Yes, this is due to the lack of competition. At this point, I am really hoping that the rumours are true that Xbox is going to launch their next generation in 2026. We really need them and Sony to push each other again the way they did with the Xbox 360 and PS3. However, I don't see the price being better unless Xbox is willing to return to the old console model. Console hardware used to be a loss leader initially and the make profit was made off peripherals and games. That is also what motivated the console makers to drive the console price down. They were trying to sell more units while also trying to reduce costs so that they eventually did make profit off console sales. But I don't see either of them returning to that unless the market for home consoles drops off. That could actually happen in favour of the likes of the Switch 2 and Steam Deck 2 if they are not careful.
@@farhanryan2895 Was that at launch or was it a more recent statement? I remember something about Sony losing a little less initially on PS5 but then 6 months later they said they were breaking even. I would assume a similar thing happened for Series X. It simply would have taken longer due to the more powerful SoC. The old model saw it happen for a couple of years at least, not just 6 months.

I'm surprised everyone has made the assumption that the games showcased would get an automatic upgrade. Unless I missed it I'm expecting an 10£$ price tag for the pro upgrade for games. We have already seen this practice with Sony with the ps4 to ps5 version of games.

Playstation has been extremely aggressive since the PS3. I have bought all gen of Playstation. But after Ps4 came out. Then they lost all footing. That is why I have boycotted Playstation 5 precisely because of how they sit on their high horse and live in an elite world high on them self

We are only at a point of diminishing returns for consoles. Ray tracing, 4k 120 fps is getting easier little by little on PC. In addition to increasingly better looking graphics. Yes it's more expensive, but consoles aren't much cheaper.

Showing those side by sides just show how little of a bump this mid-gen refresh is. It was an underwhelming showing alongside a pretty substantial price hike. Right now it looks like this generation will be ending by the time it feels like there's a need for the PRO. If you already own a PS5 it would be far better to wait a year and see where games are at on the PRO. Otherwise I think anyone who spends that much on a console at these specs is a little crazy, but I welcome people to be a little crazy if it makes them happy. lol.

Just go PC. If Sony and MS wants us to go digital only, then we might as well go PC. If everyone went PC, then we would have a much greater selection of games, no additional fee for online play and uncensored mod support (not simply 'curated' mods). If the only way that Sony and MS will listen (I'm leaving Nintendo out of this because they tend to try to just do their own thing) is for console adoption rate to plummet, then let them crash.

My Xbox gets played every day because of cross save, cross progression, and I get both Xbox and PC versions of games when I buy or use Game Pass. My rooommate has an Xbox and PC in the living room. I have both in my bedroom. My friends across the country have the same, and we all go back and forth easily depending on whether we want console convenience or extra performance on PC, because playing on one is the same as playing on the other in regards to cross progression/saves. You can't get all those things and all that convience, all the same options on both platforms, with PS/PC.

Then there's PC where you can decide on how much you want to spend, don't have to pay extra for any type of online subscription bs, can use any controller you want, _and_ you get an actual Computer to do other stuff from multitasking on the web browse to talking with friends on an actual good communication platform like Discord while streaming your game to them.
If this ain't a crowning endorsement for PC gaming, than idk what is.
FACTS
This is a item for a niche audience. It's literally that simple. PC has a ton problems too like newer games being horribly optimize, launchers, people using torrents and rat programs, dealing with windows, memory leaks, uses way more power, digital only which goes against your "no disc drive" argument, requires tinkering for many things not just games etc. Console will always be about plug and play which the average consumer still enjoys especially after a long day.
The PS 5 pro is a low volume piece of equipment. I am not buying it because I don't even use my PS5 but I am still interested to see what it does in real world tests. It also says in the disclaimer performance is based on certain games.
It is just like AMD dropping out of the high end GPU market and getting crushed as always NVidia rapes it's consumers with GPU's that go for 1500 and that is finally down to MSRP they were at 2000.00. I paid 850.00 for a great high end card but no way should it be 850.00 but there isn't competition in the PC gpu market. The same happened with the console war.
You will not get 4k at 120 that is reserved for very high end gaming rigs not a console and it won't be native 4k especially with 120fps there will be some type of Frame generation that is very efficient at upscaling from 1440p.

Optimization is horrible everywhere both on console and PC Jedi Fallen Order was horrible for some on both sides the new Star Wars was bad but Massive jumped right on it. Launchers can be disabled on start up and only run when you need them. You can disable overlays on launchers. If you want to go to a torrent site that's on you I don't and never will use torrents. Windows is windows once you get it down you work with it but yes it is bloated.
With a PC I can (tinker,yes I love having choices) I can enhance things like shadows or fog or lighting because PC has tons of options some enthusiasts like to tinker PC gamers most certainly do or we wouldn't do it. I can take a game that is 20 years old like FAr Cry 1 or Half Life 2 and mod it out to look like a modern game but keep that old school feel and have tons of choice from difficulty setting to weapons. I can go back and play Doom 3 in direct X 12 because a team of modders has worked on a conversion mod for 7 years and it looks like a modern game. PC gamers are a different breed with different hardware it's apples and oranges.
Consoles are good for power on choose quality or performance or sometimes you don't have a choice. I do like having my console to lay in bed and play on a big screen Oled tv which really makes the console look good. Yes the PS5 pro is for a niche audience but will it be for a audience thar spends money and gets something worth it in return or will it be just to say you have it? TBD because even if you trade a ps5 in you still will pay 400.00 for a upgrade so I need to see it in a real world app but to say it is a game by game and you know they are going to rehash the same games everyone has played 5 times.

Space Marine 2 has a CPU bottleneck on the PS5 so a bigger GPU won't help that game run at a higher frame rate.
Yeah that game is super cpu heavy. there is so much going on from what I seen in gameplay vids.

@@cameronramey9667 It isn't doubtful at all. The PS5 versions of space marine 2 runs at a 15 to 20% worse frame rate than the Xbox series X version. It almost never hits a steady frame rate now. The PS5 Pro CPU is the exact same CpU as the PS5. You also have to keep in mind that the CpUs on the consoles are missing a lot of cache compared to their desktop counterparts making them more comparable to laptop CpUs. Sony had even more cutbacks in comparison to the Xbox series X CPU side.
@@shredenvain7 That doesn't necessarily mean it's a CPU bottleneck. The X is 12 TFlops compared to PS5's 10 TFlops so that's about the performance difference one would expect. We already saw frame rate improvements in the presentation so I guess we'll see. I don't think I'll get one anyway but I'll be interested to see what it can actually do rather than listen to baseless Internet speculation.
@@cameronramey9667 It does mean it's CPU bound because the frame rate worsens the more NPCs there are on screen. Digital Foundry has a great video discussing it. The PS5 and Series X versions both run at dynamic 1080p 60 target in performance mode. If it was GPU bound the series X would run with a higher average dynamic resolution. It doesn't.

I heard Xbox did a similar thing by releasing a digital edition series x for $600 with no hardware changes at all so PS5 PRO is $100 more expensive and has 5 teraflops more raw power and me personally I'll sell my digital edition and get it for $500 if it going to give me raytracing on PSVR2 games and allow me to play GT7 in 8k mode then I am sold I spent more on my PSVR2 headset than I did on my ps5 console I bought to power it and Nintendo will be the biggest competitor Switch 2 might totally out sell playstation 5 next year when it releases

I think Microsoft is playing 3D chess by deciding not to make a Series X mid gen upgrade. They could have a complete next generation Xbox ready to go 2 or 3 years after the PS5 Pro launches. And potentially at a better price. That's the competition we need to see.

The stand is actually $29.99. And after taxes just for the console here in Texas you're looking at around $757 (no disc drive). Where I'm at tax is 8.25%. So even roughly you're looking at around $845-850 with the disc drive and if you want the stand roughly around $880. Not even including PS Plus or an extra controller if you don't have those. Sheesh.

The only significant difference I spotted in the side by side video is that FAR distance objects look clearer. Details that don't really matter too much... yes looks slightly better but not by much.
Thinking back on the PS3 reveal and I realized something. The difference between now and THEN is that when they revealed the PS3, they were live on-stage so they got a front row seat to the backlash from fans. This time around they're safe behind their 9 minute UA-cam stream.
PS2 sells more than any console ever. Sony thinks they can charge whatever they want for the PS3. PS4 and PS5 outsell Xbox 2 to 1 and Xbox ports their games over to PlayStation. Sony thinks they can charge whatever they want for the PS5 Pro.
Graphically, we are where we should be. Performance is what needs buff. No no stuttering, no pop-in, no FPS drops, and minimum 60FPS native should be the priority.

Playstation has sold approximately the same number of ps5s as they did ps4s and Microsoft has sold approximately the same number of series consoles as they did Xbox ones.
This clearly shows there is practically zero growth in console sales and it's the same people buying them.

Sony is cocky for sure, but why shouldn't they be. All this outrage over the ps5 pro's price won't stop the regular ps5 from selling. If anything, it'll probably boost its sales.
Now, I can't unsee the next gen consoles for less than $850.
I have the PS5, with the blu ray player, a Series X, and, I also have a PC, with 2 of the later gen graphics cards. It will be the last Sony game console I will buy. You guys that will fork over the big bucks for the newest Sony game console, just so you can say you did, knock yourselves out.
To be honest the PS5 Pro isn't nothing special and its certainly not worth the price tag
Sony are pushing their luck too far. Riding off PS4’s success. Ps5 has had very few decent exclusives and the prices are over inflated. PS5 pro is a complete rip.
I'm not furious. The price is too high, I won't buy it. I won't lose sleep over it.
Just like I don't buy £75-80+ games , and only the odd £70.

Yes, this is due to the lack of competition. At this point, I am really hoping that the rumours are true that Xbox is going to launch their next generation in 2026. We really need them and Sony to push each other again the way they did with the Xbox 360 and PS3. However, I don't see the price being better unless Xbox is willing to return to the old console model.
Console hardware used to be a loss leader initially and the make profit was made off peripherals and games. That is also what motivated the console makers to drive the console price down. They were trying to sell more units while also trying to reduce costs so that they eventually did make profit off console sales. But I don't see either of them returning to that unless the market for home consoles drops off. That could actually happen in favour of the likes of the Switch 2 and Steam Deck 2 if they are not careful.

@@farhanryan2895 Was that at launch or was it a more recent statement? I remember something about Sony losing a little less initially on PS5 but then 6 months later they said they were breaking even. I would assume a similar thing happened for Series X. It simply would have taken longer due to the more powerful SoC. The old model saw it happen for a couple of years at least, not just 6 months.
@@golddragongaming1they confirmed 2 years after the console release that they lose $100-200 per console. This is just a guess but I’m pretty sure it’s still about the same for them.
@@farhanryan2895 Well hopefully they do the same with their next console and the rumours are true that it will be in 2026. Also, hopefully they will actually sell well. Then the competition and market reactions combined will force Sony to buck up their ideas like they did with the late PS3 cycle and PS4 cycle.

Sony has already shown how arrogant they can be with the PS3 where they told their fanbase to go work a 2nd job to afford the PS3, it’s not surprising to see them nickel and dimming their user base now. Hopefully the next Xbox does release in 2026 and it sells well. We need competition in the gaming space.

I'm surprised everyone has made the assumption that the games showcased would get an automatic upgrade. Unless I missed it I'm expecting an 10£$ price tag for the pro upgrade for games. We have already seen this practice with Sony with the ps4 to ps5 version of games.
This is the reason why Xbox also needs to sell their console more.

I feel like i haven't even gotten the value from my original PS5, yet.
People will tell me, "Oh, you can play this" or "You can play that!" Honestly, i play third party games on Xbox and most PS5 games run on PS4 pretty well.
I'm not very happy with this Gen so far.

I'm more than happy with my Series-X right now as I know they have a lot of great games coming out real soon, so I'm not looking at getting another console until Microsoft release their New Next-Gen Console, which they're saying is going be a Significant Upgrade over this generation.

Playstation has been extremely aggressive since the PS3. I have bought all gen of Playstation. But after Ps4 came out. Then they lost all footing. That is why I have boycotted Playstation 5 precisely because of how they sit on their high horse and live in an elite world high on them self

Wait till people find out those disc drives have been scalped and it's going to cost them 2 to 3x times more than $80. Sony only has to take its time to restock forcing more people into digital. Another 4d chess move from Sony to not including the disc drive. They milking the Ponnies dry.

We are only at a point of diminishing returns for consoles. Ray tracing, 4k 120 fps is getting easier little by little on PC. In addition to increasingly better looking graphics. Yes it's more expensive, but consoles aren't much cheaper.

Can someone please explain how Sony is the market leader?When they do not lead in hardware and / or software, they do not lead in profits nor revenue margins. could you stop talking about things you don't know about. Sony 9% profit margins that mean 91% is going to keep them afloat.
Showing those side by sides just show how little of a bump this mid-gen refresh is. It was an underwhelming showing alongside a pretty substantial price hike. Right now it looks like this generation will be ending by the time it feels like there's a need for the PRO. If you already own a PS5 it would be far better to wait a year and see where games are at on the PRO. Otherwise I think anyone who spends that much on a console at these specs is a little crazy, but I welcome people to be a little crazy if it makes them happy. lol.

You not forced to buy ps5 pro i stick to my ps5 disc edition version it wil run as good as ps5 pro don't worry. i always can stick to my gaming pc with a 4070 in it but ye i wil not upgrade to ps5 pro.

Just go PC. If Sony and MS wants us to go digital only, then we might as well go PC. If everyone went PC, then we would have a much greater selection of games, no additional fee for online play and uncensored mod support (not simply 'curated' mods).
If the only way that Sony and MS will listen (I'm leaving Nintendo out of this because they tend to try to just do their own thing) is for console adoption rate to plummet, then let them crash.
