Thankyou for a Great vlog, very interesting & informative. Ebbw vale was a place of work many years ago & I had many happy memories in South Wales in particular
Such a grand place to work... Sad how many jobs have gone in recent years. But at least the architecture has been preserved, and a new generation can learn about the history. 😎🐼🙂
Another great history lesson, thank you both! Loved the Archive building, very interesting architecture. The local shops look as if have suffered the same decline as the rest of the valley towns sadly. Good to see it again though! ❤️
Local council have helped the decline over the last 30 yrs. We use to have one of the biggest outdoor markets. Council kept digging up the town centre. Stall holders got fed up. Plus the cost of a stall. People stopped coming to Ebbw for shopping. One thing you notice is when a town starts to suffer you get loads of charity shops as they don't pay rates and loads of tattoo shops.
Off we go again, and you managed to find another really pretty spring day for our outing! It was a real privilege to join you in the Ebbw Vale General Offices. What a magnificent bit of architecture from an age when no expense was spared in providing solid and opulent buildings. And well done for getting us inside with you. They must have liked the cut of our jib, and been fans of your channel! And an amazing archive. Lovely staff too! It's not hard to imagine the days of steel production. I've never seen the steelworks of Ebbw Vale but remember those of Corby and the devastation there and elsewhere that followed, as the steel industry was forced into decline. The human tragedy that caused was massive. I loved that bright Welsh dragon and matching sheep during ghe shopping! And Ebbw Vale has to stand so proud, having had Nye Bevan as its Member of Parliament. They don't make politicians like Nye anymore. Manky seemed to have a very good day and who wouldn't have enjoyed a ride on that funicular railway. Thanks for another lovely day out!
It's great to hear how much you enjoyed the day out at Ebbw Vale. We were so surprised to be taken into the archive! They really were nice staff. It sounds like Corby went through the same struggles as Ebbw Vale when the Steel Works closed. So many people worked at the works. Manky definitely approved of the funicular ⭐🐼⭐
Lovely building. That is what I used to do guys. I was the archivist/records manager at a scientific company. It was not my favorite job but it was my most challenging and responsibility wise, I was in charge of the largest collection I'd ever had. Ooh Thanks Caroline for the charity shop tour. I spotted a couple things I wanted. LOL Glad Manky got to ride on the funicular.
I was lucky enough to have visited the archives building twice ,once to see records deposited there and an area where ebbw Vale choir sang, really enjoyed this visit the fehicular was something I hadn't seen ,your descriptive powers made it all the more enjoyable thank you
That's a good question Stan, because we actually have more vowels in the Welsh language that there are in English, as 'W' is a vowel too. All the best and thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Don't forget to count how manky times Manky appears! Answer on the live show 1 April at 9pm BST :)

Yes Violet, the towns have struggled since the heavy industry was shut down. 🙂😎🐼
