Watch closely the drummer back right. His stick in his right hand splits and he loses the end of it. They have a number of reserve sticks placed below the drum in a shelf, for such eventualities. At 1:45 you can see him change sticks.
I wish I was your mother so I could tell you how proud I am of you. I admire these people so much, and also whatever energy that created the Taiko Drum. WOW thank you.
I think this group is Za Ondekoza ("demon drummers"), established in 1969 and one of the first internationally touring Japanese kumidaiko (ensemble drumming) groups. They are a notable group in the history of this art form, in case you wanted to credit them or anyone was interested in looking them up. Thank you for sharing this performance!
Ok, first, he BROKE a stick because of how hard/fast he played. And, second, he calmly pulls out a SPARE. He had a SPARE?! He started the performance WITH a spare?! Mark of a master!
凄いんだよ! Thanks for posting this video of a beautiful part of Japanese culture, peaceful and yet vibrant! It's an pleasure and makes you admire and respect the obvious _endless_ *HOURS* of practice, physical exercise and teamwork-the latter, at least, comes naturally to most Japanese, whose culture tends to place a greater emphasis on _"WE"_ rather than _"I"_ in nearly all social interactions and structures. Still, one can't help but stand mesmerized by the trance-inducing, calming rhythm of the taiko, and the fue complements it superbly.
Yea I noticed The front right drummer broke his left stick in the beginning of his solo and gracefully replaced that stick with haste. Until I actually watched the video I thought the moment he was grabbing the spare was just part of the solo good save. Awesome performance
I love these songs so much I have them on my uber long playlist of music throughout the ages. One thing I have to say, though, on a funny note for fans of pirates vs. ninjas debates is that both the settings which they come from, being Colonial Americas and Feudal Japan, are well known for a bit of that genre that consists heavily of flute and drums, often reminding us of the particular styles of violence that they are associated with. In the case of Feudal Japan, there is this video. In the case of Colonial Americas, there is this marching type music featuring "Drum and Fife." Apparently, Scottish also are known for something like that.
The flute in itself is normal. All taiko performances I’ve seen there was a flute. But a higher one. Playing grace is weird. But the nice thing about it is that it’s often played by Scottish bag and drum bands. Nice to hear the difference.
So beautiful. It is amazing, and only by grace, that our two cultures have come together after such a devastating war. May we forever live in peace with or neighbor Japan, and defend our shared love for one another. Amazing grace that we will together soon share with North Korea, and all nations.
I would be scared shitless to play that bell part. Could easily make one hit in one of those quiet sections too strong and just ruin the whole dynamic development.

While I'm used to hearing it on bagpipes, Amazing Grace still makes me tear up when played on what looks like a shakuhachi. Thundering odaiko in the background is definitely a little odd though, even played quietly. Odaiko are for war, and Amazing Grace is for making people cry at a funeral. You would play one, then the other, not both at the same time.
I came here.
Reason:
Saeko-Nee San

Hellz Yeah

HAIKYUUUUUU
Saeko Neesan Saeko 👍🤟👍

That's how its done! One of the absolute best taiko performances I've ever heard.
I wish I was your mother so I could tell you how proud I am of you. I admire these people so much, and also whatever energy that created the Taiko Drum. WOW thank you.

I was at this exact performance at the sage, Newcastle , England
lucky one
I agree,
Japanese have a ceremony for everything, even drum playing. Such precision and devotion is inspiring to both hear and watch. Thank you for this.
The Japanese take drumming more seriously than almost any other country, it's a huge part of the tradition.
When you snap a 1 1/2" diameter Taiko drum stick like a twig and play it off like a boss.
Ok, first, he BROKE a stick because of how hard/fast he played. And, second, he calmly pulls out a SPARE. He had a SPARE?! He started the performance WITH a spare?! Mark of a master!
this was one of the most awesome things i have ever heard!!!!!

Wow Nice amazing
Theres a Japanese song with drums and flute they played at the world cup final in 1998. Please help me find it.
That big barrel Taiko (I cannot remember the name) looks like a giant Den-Den Daiko, and the the Hourglass ones look like giant Kakko-Daikos
I think those are O-daiko, and Okedo-daiko.
epic drums
that was.....
COOL!
Stage Manager: How big are your Drums?
Drummers: Yes!

They are soooooo good, it's stupid...
@8:10 he loses a drumstick!😂
Watch closely, he BREAKS it, leaves the remaining piece on the floor and takes a new one just to keep drumming like a friking boss.
I'm hungry finding that music from haikyu
ooMo oO O
