I’ve seen many versions of that song, but never that one! Thank you for sharing. Meatloaf is an awesome singer/storyteller and will be missed. Thank you for covering!
They video is so much better. Meatloaf really shows off his voice in it. His album Bat out of Hell has one hit after another. You won't regret checking it out. Meatloaf is very theatrical. And he kills it every time
Dave here. This is a shocker. I like the video better that shows the baseball clip. The key is Jim Steinman's genius. (he's the piano player. Can you guess he writes musicals? lol). Has many more but my fave is 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Amazing lyrics and the usual outstanding, theatrical Meatloaf performance. This is a great rabbit hole. Enjoy.
I've always taken the phrase "glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife" in this song to represent the feeling of fascination and allure of something they knew was dangerous.
Meat Loaf & Jim Steinman ~ one of the greatest music pairings in histrory. "I Would Do Anything For Love" - Official Video is a must...and you need two also do "Two Out Of Three Aint Bad"
I love watching people who have never seen Meatloaf react to this song. In the early portions, it is clear that they have no idea what they are in for. And seeing their realization of just what they are experiencing brings back so many memories of what it was like to watch this on stage 35 years ago.
There are other videos of this song when he's younger & less 'medicated! Normally he's closer to pitch-perfect, which he is not here IMHO... I'm glad that you're enjoying this, but this ROCK OPERA rendition is not the best rendition/performance...Hope you can find the original. Meatloaf is such an amazing performer, I agree. ("Bat out of Hell!") Carla, frankly, was amazing & knew how to manage Meatloaf, no matter what he threw her way on stage..She always caught the ball.
This was quite the show. I've never seen this exact video before. It's important for you to know that there are videos of this song that show off Meatloaf's voice, so much better. If you go down this hole with his other hit songs, you'll be more impressed with his talent.
Musicians were betters in the 60s 70s and 80s in my opinion. No autotune, and played their own instruments. They did it every night on stage with great passion. I think a big difference between then and now it wasn’t as money driven. They seemed to do it for the love of music The great thing about their live performances was every night they were different. Something always seemed to happen that they hadn’t done before. God bless, rest in peace Meatloaf.
Aw I’m already sad since it sounds like he did a new one 😞 Gotta do the older better version of this, I Would Do Anything For Love MV, and Bat Out of Hell audio. Please 🖤🖤
CBS records had an intro for this album and Meat got a standing ovation from the artists in the audience. The only other person who received this honor before him was Janis Joplin
Take a look at the lyrics. At the end of their little vocal battle he says he couldn’t take it any longer and started swearing to God and on his mama’s grave that he would love her until the end of time. Then they both go straight into Now I’m praying for the end of time, so I can end my time with you. Meatloaf was a serious musical theater lover and his songs, shows and videos very clearly exhibit that fact.
My then High School girlfriend and I were in my car listening to this IRL. Everything was the same except we didn't get married so didn't have to deal with that. We're still FB friends. His real name was Marvin Lee Aday.😇 He got his nickname (which was legally changed) by his dad when he played football in High School. He had many movie appearances over the years. Including but not limited to "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Fight Club". Btw they were BOTH regretting their commitment to each other. This song was written by the late Jim Steinman 😇He also played keyboard on this song. I wish I could have seen them in concert but sadly it never happened. 🙄 I still have the "Bat out of hell" LP PS: EVERYTHING was better in the 70s and 80s.😎
Every time I hear this song, it brings back a memory of being home alone. When this song came on, I of course turned the volume to maximum. When it got to the middle part, I didn't hear my parents come home. My father stormed into my room with many inappropriate words. He said if be ever heard me listening to that "filthy song" again, I wouldn't be able to sit down for a month. After that, I used headphones. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Meatloaf and Queen are rock opera giants.
To put the album this song cames from (Bat out of Hell) into perspective, it's sold more copies than Springsteen's Born in the USA and Pink Floyd's The Wall. Nearly everything they released is like this, Broadway level packages contained in every track. I recommend checking out the video for 'I'd do anything for Love'
Ok, imagine being in high-school when this song came out!!!! Yes, it was freaking awesome at parties!!! We had a lot of those in the 70's. What a magical time to grow up! Such memories!!!
I was lucky enough to see him in concert. Such an amazingly powerful voice. She was just the singer in the band. I met him at a Comicon a few years before he passed away. Very cool guy.
The Official Music Video for this song is sooooo Much Better !! He was a Little horse the night of this preformance. If there is an official Music Video for any Meatloaf Song, Go with that Version. Meatloaf's Video's are like Little Mini Rock Opera's and they are Beautifully Filmed. Please Do "I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE" By Meatloaf Next, Please !! Please React to Elvis Presley "IF I CAN DREAM" 68 Comeback Special (Closeing Song) (WHITE SUIT) This was Elvis's Powerful and Heartfelt Tribute to Dr Martin Luther King Jr after his Assasination in Memphis Tennessee where Elvis Lived, It was Based on MLK's "I HAVE A DREAM" Speech. Subbed !
Meatloaf is my all-time favorite artist. If you listen to I would do anything for love, you have to make sure that you are getting the full-length version of the song. Also, some of the best guitar work you will ever hear is Bat out of hell
You should check out Meatloaf's version of "Its all coming back to me now" I believe it was originally wrote for Meatloaf and is a duet! I think it definitely is up there with Celine Dion's version if not better!
This is an extended version that the song on the album. Ellen Folley was the female singer on the album. She also played the first public defendant on Night Court in the 80.
I'm of the firm opinion there's no emotion that you can't find a Meatloaf song to match. Meatloaf was an amazingly talented man and the passion and emotion in his singing is why he's my favorite singer.
Just to let you know, Meatloaf was Eddie in the original film version of "Rocky Horror Picture Show". It could be a fun date night movie for you and Ali.
I had the privilege of seeing the Meatloaf experience in concert in the Fargodome in the late 90's (I think). It was SO GOOD! Interesting that you brought up "theatrical", because Meat brought that component up multiple times during the show. Thanks
Meatloaf was a huge baseball fan. He actually coached a youth team in CT. The announcer on the video is the great Yankee shortstop and announcer Phil "Scooter: Rizzuto.
Nothing is more disappointing than to hear someone is checking out this song for the first time and doing a concert version rather than the official music video. Depressing.
Your reaction is priceless! I'm going down a musical memory lane and forget that this is new for a younger generation! Love your channel. Love from Texas!!!
I just love watching a new generation fall down the rabbit hole that is a meatloaf concert. You need to check out so many more songs. My personal fave is 2 out 3 aint' bad {a rock ballad} and his duet with Cher in the 80s is an unknown gem. Meatloaf literally left it all on the stage - most shows saw him on oxygen at the end backstage. His voice is insane and I miss him so greatly but he gave me some of the best memories. Being 50 now this song was a staple in the car on cruise nights and then later was a keroke staple. This and rumors (fleetwood mac) were the first 2 album i ever purchase because my father (who to this day collects vinyl) said i was ruining his records by playing them too much (so he went and got me my own copies, lol) I've just found your channel and am looking forward to watching your back catelogue.
I was lucky to see him in Atlantic City a few years ago. Fabulous artist. He was great to his fans. His song writer James Steinman died only a few months earlier. There will never be another..... One sad tidbit - he was at the ER when they brought JFK there after he was shot.
Holy sh*t- I've never seen this early version of their performance-it is pure genius, talented musicianship, and very comical-thoroughly entertaining! I first heard this album via my Aunt Vickie (RIP) as a very young teenager in the late 80s-then, in the 90s, he came out with the song "I'd Do Anything for Love." He also played the character Robert "Bob" Paulsen in the cult classic movie Fight Club, starring Edward Norton, Brad Pitt, Helena Bonham Carter, Jared Leto, and, of course, Meatloaf. The movie also features music by The Pixies. I've always thought he was such an incredibly talented man! RIP, MEATLOAF 🤘🏻♥️♾️
Meat Loaf has said many times in interviews that his first love was theater, which is why he incorporates so much of it in his videos and live performances. He has always been very talented at that and the hidden and subliminal messages in his theatrics.
Meatloaf was more of musical theatre person having had parts in "Hair", and as Eddie in the Rocky Horror Picture Show both onstage and in the movie. In an interview he once said that he was not a singer, rather an actor who played some characters who sang.
You had me laughing out loud over here im serious- Ive never heard this version and it was the best!I havent enjoyed a video this much in a very long time.Your a great reactor!!
This is based on high school, look at his shirt it is a "prom" shirt of the 70's. In the 70's it was a great song..still is. She was in the original song..think of first time...
I've got a GREAT Meatloaf song request. The song "Rock & Roll Dreams come Through" is my all-time favorite! If you ever have a moment, I highly recommend checking it out. You won't be disappointed. I can promise you that. Have a groovy day 😃😃
Great reaction to a great song and artist. I am from Canada and when the stage production of Bat Out Of Hell came to Toronto Ontario I went to see it. It is Based on the album of the same name with a few extra songs added. It was Amazing.
I have heard this song many, many times & have never seen this particular performance. So fun. I have seen other videos, less theatrical, but still theatrical. LOL
The bat out of hell album is one of the best ever. I have had to rebut it at least 4 times as I had it pinched at parties never any others just this one and this was nearly 20 years after it was released. He's also fetured in "Rocky Horror Picture Show", Not only can the man sing, but he's got a massive on-stage presence (duh). And yeah, does anyone know why anyone thought autotune and music "enhancements" should be invented? Or - and this is only my opinion, of course - that someone thought they were needed??
Yes, you have to do the older version of this song, so much better
That is a MUST!
YES 100% RIGHT THE OLDER VERSION IS SO MUCH BETTER
No auto tone here. Raw and real. He was great when I so him at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. Brilliant stage show.
Yes please watch the older version. It is so much better.
Dude this is the stuff YOUR
GRAND PARENTS listened to 🤣😂
Ya need to watch the original video, this is an icky version. 😮
Yes, the original could be watched with your wife.
Their voices seem off, too
I’ve seen many versions of that song, but never that one! Thank you for sharing. Meatloaf is an awesome singer/storyteller and will be missed. Thank you for covering!
Rock-Opera Meatloaf really had his own style, he was a real one of a kind and a good actor too.
Enjoy.
Meat started in musical theater. His performances were very theatrical. He was also in alot of movies. Including The Rocky Horror Picture Show
I've always taken the phrase "glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife" in this song to represent the feeling of fascination and allure of something they knew was dangerous.
Meat Loaf & Jim Steinman ~ one of the greatest music pairings in histrory.

You really should listen to the album version of this song. It's genious. The beat change is amazing. The entire Bat Out Of Hell album is classic.
Meat Loaf used to say he couldn't sing, but he was an actor who sometimes played a singer.
("Bat out of Hell!") Carla, frankly, was amazing & knew how to manage
Meatloaf, no matter what he threw her way on stage..She always caught the ball.
I love seeing new generations finding Meatloaf.
Puts a huge smile on my face.
You and your wife give me hope for the future.
Y'all are so adorable.
Omg please do the older version...I will send you the link if you need me to
This was quite the show. I've never seen this exact video before. It's important for you to know that there are videos of this song that show off Meatloaf's voice, so much better. If you go down this hole with his other hit songs, you'll be more impressed with his talent.
Yeah, that performance was theatrical, but the sound was crap.
First time I've seen this exact live video also! I prefer the other versions!
I loved Meatloaf for decades!! Thanks for that review!!
Musicians were betters in the 60s 70s and 80s in my opinion. No autotune, and played their own instruments. They did it every night on stage with great passion. Theatrical Rock and concept albums were quite popular in the 70's. Meatloaf, Elton John, Queen, David Bowie, The Who, etc.
The whole album is like a rock opera (though you could have picked a better version).Meat was also a noted actor.
EDDIE!
Aw I’m already sad since it sounds like he did a new one 😞 Gotta do the older better version of this, I Would Do Anything For Love MV, and Bat Out of Hell audio. Please 🖤🖤
This was insane and awesome, all at once. What a great talent he was. 😊
@@RowdyRuth Meatloaf is an all around incredible artist 🖤
Yes the video is the only way to go
Older version def better
It was the 70's, and I was in high school. Magical time.
CBS records had an intro for this album and Meat got a standing ovation from the artists in the audience. The only other person who received this honor before him was Janis Joplin
This is a relationship that is coming to an end, and they are letting us know how it all started. This is Rock Opera. Meatloaf was brilliant.
Ughh I so wish ud have done the original video, much better quality but this song is a classic but u have to do “2 out of 3 ain’t bad”
His Female counterpart in this song is Carla DeVito, who went to my high school LOL
Take a look at the lyrics. At the end of their little vocal battle he says he couldn’t take it any longer and started swearing to God and on his mama’s grave that he would love her until the end of time. The video is better only because it adds a baseball theme(1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base, home base) metaphor to the song, which is hilarious.

Hus national anthem performance at super bowl is breathtaking!!

I love me some meatloaf 🎶🔥😉
classic greatness ! ☮️💜
🎶music is life🎶
Meatloaf started out in the theater on Broadway. So that's where his style comes from.
The video is better
I was lucky enough to see him in concert. Such an amazingly powerful voice.
She was just the singer in the band.
I met him at a Comicon a few years before he passed away. Very cool guy.
Born in 84' and grew up hearing Meatloaf in my house. Fell in love instantly.

Showing my age I guess but meatloaf in concert was THE BEST show! Great memories!
This is an extended version that the song on the album. Ellen Folley was the female singer on the album. She also played the first public defendant on Night Court in the 80.
14:54 "One of these days!" is a line Jackie Gleason would say to Audrey Meadows on the 50s TV show, The Honeymooners.
Meatloaf was a trip to see live!
I'm of the firm opinion there's no emotion that you can't find a Meatloaf song to match. Meatloaf was an amazingly talented man and the passion and emotion in his singing is why he's my favorite singer.

Saw him in the mid 90s.
Totally spellbinding.
Meat was in a league of his own.

Not the best version of this performance... better sound and production is the official video! 🤷♀️
Great choice Mark B. THANKS!!!
"One of these days...!!!" is a reference to Jackie Gleason's famous line in a 1950s TV show "The Honeymooners"
He was a musical theater guy. Check out the movie "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
Meatloaf was more of musical theatre person having had parts in "Hair", and as Eddie in the Rocky Horror Picture Show both onstage and in the movie. In an interview he once said that he was not a singer, rather an actor who played some characters who sang.
This whole album was amazing. I grew up with this album. Welcome to Rock Opera.
Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife = LIST
"They were doing what they were born to do." That's kind of what the song is about.😉
Yeah you have to watch the video of this song

The music video is definitely better. But I also like the Glee version. It’s sooooo good!!!
If you want to react to a Meat Loaf song react to For Crying Out Loud. It is easily Steinman's best work as a lyricist.
I've got a GREAT Meatloaf song request. The song "Rock & Roll Dreams come Through" is my all-time favorite! If you ever have a moment, I highly recommend checking it out. You won't be disappointed. I can promise you that. Have a groovy day 😃😃
I'll admit to preferring Jim Steinman's version, but agree that the song is awesome (even with the lyric change)
Wasn't the video I've seen before & love. In my opinion, the other video to this song is so much better & hilarious. 😂
Great reaction to a great song and artist. I am from Canada and when the stage production of Bat Out Of Hell came to Toronto Ontario I went to see it. It is Based on the album of the same name with a few extra songs added. It was Amazing.
This song always makes laugh. I had to watch you’re reaction to this lol…. My favorite Meatloaf song is Two out of Three Ain’t Bad
This is NOT the best live version. Too bad because it's a work of art. Do yourself a solid and go find the better one.
I was going to say the same thing.
His performance in Rocky Horror Picture Show is another on that really spotlights how good he really was.
Definitely check out the older one. Much better. Love Meatloaf!!!! Outstanding performances!!!!!! He was a good actor too.
Before he signed his record deal meatloaf was a musical theatre actor
Need to see hom in Rocky Horror Picture Show!
This is rock opera. Somethin Meatloaf excelled at.
Now nearly 30 years later my adult children love it. Please check out the whole album and the follow up Bat out of hell 2
I have never seen this version before. It was crazy good.
Please continue down the rabbit hole of Meatloaf!
He was in Rocky Horror don't let Your Meat Loaf!
Welcome to "Rock Opera"... its own genre of music - Meatloaf, "Rocky Horror Picture Show", and some others...
They were both Music Theater performers. Watch him in Rocky Horror Picture Show and more recently Fight Club.
its about getting it on in the front seat - 50's-60's-70s version of get a room
He’s praying for the end of time to hurry and arrive!!
Listen to the album version with the baseball play by play as an analogy…it’s pure genius.
Meatloaf was always like a rock opera.
Love his "Two Out of Theee Ain't Bad, " ballad, no less.
LOVED this song, redo this one with the studio version LOL
I know every word to every one of his songs !!
I love this song and actually sing Karaoke to it.... and Ive Never seen this particular version. Check out the other one too lol
