Hi Lexi! This is so helpful as an incoming first-year. I was wondering if you'd be willing to make a college advice video solely for academics and adjusting to college classes?
Do not be afraid to go to the dean on a professor! I did it and the Dean took the professors side (even though everyone was defending me and sticking up for me) since she’s new and an alumni needless to say I transferred schools! No regrets ❤️❤️
For anyone who wants to go out and party definitely go easy on drinking, especially if it’s your first college party. One of the first times i went out a girl I was with ended up drinking too much and needed to be taken home, I wouldn’t have been able to help if I were just as drunk as she was. Parties are way more fun when you’re not throwing up on the sidewalk.
I’m moving onto my second year, and lemme just say, you’re so right about the random roommate thing. I picked mine and we were best friends for maybe the first month and then red flags were everywhere. I was basically walking on eggshells the whole year and she still found issues with me. We ended up going on a club trip together and she and her boyfriend viciously berated me for something small I didn’t even do in a room full of other people we knew. I’m now on the verge of quitting this club because of her because she makes me so anxious and fearful and I’m definitely kicking myself over this. I’m better friends with people I came upon by chance than I am with my ex roommates (I was in a quad) so I stand by the random roommate path.
I’m the oldest kid in my family, so I don’t have any sibling to give me guidance. This video feels like I have an older sister helping me out, thank you!
Wow. As a mom about to send her baby to college as a freshman, this post was amazing! Thank you! Such great content. First, you are a beautiful and very talented young lady. Secondly, the tips and content was so relevant. The tips on roomies was great. You were able to express your opinion and provide tips that were helpful
This is honestly very good advice. Tysm. I’ve watched so many of these, but none of them tell me the key things to know about college. I’m entering my 2nd year of community college in a couple days, but I’ll apply those tips when I transfer to a university. I’m 19 rn and I’ve never done drugs or drank alcohol. I’ve just taken the tiniest sip of a mimosa when my cousin came over our house to be with us for her bday before we went on our Christmas trip last year (I was already 18), but that’s literally it. One of my friends in hs (we were freshmen/sophomores at the time) asked if I wanted to take a hit of her vape pen. All my friends were passing it around behind the gym, but I was sick, so I used that as an excuse not to take a hit of her vape pen. My best friend and I were the only ones who didn’t do it, and I’m honestly glad we didn’t. That friend with the vape pen didn’t do drugs or drink before the bf she had at the time. He convinced her to do all that stuff and he got her addicted to vaping. And then it had gotten so out of hand after they had broken up. I really felt bad for her. My best friend and I hated him for what he did to her.
As an incoming freshman that starts school soon, this advice was so helpful! Thank you for sharing! I love your channel Lexi, you always make such great content :)
Thank you for sharing this. My son is a senior this year, so we have a year before he’ll head off to college, but we’ve been taking the time to watch videos like this. You don’t know what you don’t know, so this information is helpful and appreciated.
this was so helpful omg so many videos make the college experience seem really idealisitc or absolutely horrible but you did so well to talk about the balance whilst mentioning the precautions to take!!
I'm only 17, I'm going to college next year and I'm so ready but also so scared. I'm a lesbian in a very homophobic household (parents won't talk to me ever again if I marry a woman, "you're not my daughter", "you really are just a filthy little lesbian", lotsa trauma there) and I'm really worried that when I leave I'm going to like, overdo it. I'm afraid that I won't know what to do with my newfound freedom and I'll end up doing stuff I'll regret later just because I CAN. Just to piss my mom off. And I don't want to overdo it just to piss my mom off; that's petty. But I have like two weeks between when I turn 18 and when I move out to college dorms, so there's not much time to like, figure out my boundaries and stuff. I don't want to fly too close to the sun like the story with Icarus. But also... God I'm so sick of being treated like dirt. I turn 17 tomorrow actually; August 12. 366 days till I turn 18. I know I'll be okay though.
I say join a queer/LGBTQ+ club on campus to have some community and meet people with experience being out that you get along with because that will not only make you feel safer but get you some tips on dating, boundaries, and any other advice. In my experience with very religious parents, having someone to talk to and be yourself with makes the load of a difference when you get overwhelmed or may overdo things because of the suffocating home environment.
ahhh this makes me feel a lot better! I’m going into uni as a 17 yr old and I was feeling really nervous of literally all the topics you hit :,) thank you sm!!!
I love you Lexi!! You have helped prepare me so much for college and you continue to be an inspiration for me. You are an amazing person and people like you are so rare. Keep being you
I so appreciate your honest sharing of your experiences based on your upstanding morals and perspectives. You obviously have a really good head on your shoulders and the confidence to uphold your standards, I commend your parents! Your views/perspectives are a much needed voice regarding the topics you covered. Some people have to learn by first hand experience what they want or don't want to be doing with their time at college, but some just know there are experiences that just don't need to be experienced and you choose a different path (sometimes it feels like a lonely path, but going to frat parties and getting wasted can be a false sense of belonging too) and figure out how to live and have a good time without following the crowd. Good on you! I will definetly be sharing your video with my rising first year college daughter.
As a highschooler who has no experience with people around me drinking underage. This video just confirmed that I don't want to have that experience. My mom drinks regularly and even though she's not getting blackout drunk she's still super annoying.
Idk why but when I search up tips for anything serious, if I see a poc I choose them and I 100% don't regret it I love you so much Even though these are common sense, I'm thankful that I decided to still listen to refresh my mind! ❤️
I love that you have brought up the older men chasing after the younger women. I was in the military and it's basically like college/highschool. Alcoholism, I knew people doing cocaine and acid on the weekends, STDs were everywhere people were cheating all the time. But the thing I saw the most was these young girls And they were getting into relationships with older men who would manipulate them lie to them, etc. I to this day have not seen large age gap relationships in real life that go well. It can happen but a lot of the times older people are trying to manipulate younger people. I'm not going to say I was innocent but I never got into dating relationships with the older the crowd. I did my little twister game and that's it.
You rock Lexi!! Glad to hear there are college students like you with such strong moral values. My son goes to Lafayette. I hope the 2 of you meet one day, maybe @ the Lehigh vs Laf football game, lol.💕
Lexi, I want to be friends with you. I have been called a square so many times for not drinking alcohol and not going to groove (parties). I have been having so much trouble finding friends who don't look at me like I have 12 eyes when they find out what kind of lifestyle I live/like.

I definitely agree with the alcohol thing. I'm an incoming freshman and I do NOT plan on getting into drinking and drugs. If u want to do that, go ahead. Just be careful or pressure me into it. I have too many generational issues with substances to get involved with that stuff. I have to keep my life "straight"(in quotations because I'm queer). Another thing about sex, before u become active, get an STI test and make sure ur partner is clear.
I’m going to a Japanese collage hopefully so 80% of these topics are not really accurate but I really love this video since it’s helpful for some 🤍thank you for being honest about all that stuff
OMG I NEEDED THIS. I’m planning on waiting until marriage to have sex, and I also struggle with some sexual aversion from growing up religious and generational…issues. I’m so uncomfortable with sex and even other people having sex and this gave me the confidence to tell my roommate I want them to respect my boundaries and avoid sexual intercourse in our shared space AND NEVER WHEN IM THERE. Thank you, Love❤
thank you so much! This is the most down to earth and chill video I’ve found on this topic- you made me feel so much better about my freshman year. Thanks!😌
I literally have the worst social anxiety so i don’t know how I’m going to survive having a roommate in college I don’t know how I feel about having to share a room with some random person

Omg sis did you say COGNITIVE SCIENCE?? Plsss do a video on it. Since it’s like a major that colleges are not that aware of it yet, I can’t find that many things on it in terms of a student perspective so you making one would be so so helpful
As a bio chemistry major I can definitely agree that chemistry professors can be rough but physics oh my gosh I'm still scared from a physics class I took 2 semesters ago. 😂 I'm not a big fan of drinking and/ or being drunk or any drugs for that matter so I totally agree with watching Netflix in peace or going for a scroll somewhere that doesn't including hot sweaty bodies bumping together in confined spaces.
thank you for this as a sophomore now and freshmen year being virtually non existent this is so nice. But holy fuck I’ve never seen so much alcohol n drugs getting used so much ever since I got to college. Ts is crazy bro. I’m also scared to go to frats Bc at my college it’s known as rape shore 💀
Also there are websites where you can look for student reviews of the professors ahead of time so when you go to pick classes you can get the professor you want and not suffer
I don't think going random is always the best bet, if you get along with someone you know going to your college that fall and you weren't friends in hs then I see nothing wrong with asking if they're interested in being roommates with you
when I was in high school a few years ago, my chemistry teacher HATED me. She loved my twin sister the year before but since I had epilepsy/seizures she didn't like dealing with them or following my 504 plan

You had me in the intro sis. I’m not gonna lie. This sounds HILARIOUS already 😂😂
glad it caught your attention 😭😅
Do not be afraid to go to the dean on a professor! I did it and the Dean took the professors side (even though everyone was defending me and sticking up for me) since she’s new and an alumni needless to say I transferred schools! No regrets ❤️❤️
Your parents should be so proud of how mature you are at such a young age!! Keep on being you because it’s AMAZING! ❤️
For anyone who wants to go out and party definitely go easy on drinking, especially if it’s your first college party. One of the first times i went out a girl I was with ended up drinking too much and needed to be taken home, I wouldn’t have been able to help if I were just as drunk as she was. Parties are way more fun when you’re not throwing up on the sidewalk.
you are just a bright ray of sunshine, Lexi
🥺🤍
At 10:50 when you were talking about unprotected sex, it immediately went to an add that said "bring on those babies" lmao
I'm starting uni in a few months as a freshman and this has really helped. Thank you soo much
As an incoming freshman that starts school soon, this advice was so helpful! Thank you for sharing! I love your channel Lexi, you always make such great content :)
I’m a Junior now and this advice is spot on 👏🏾! Truer words have never been said.
i love the way you speak, like you sound so lighthearted but with great volume ??? /pos
have you thought of starting a podcast??
Hope you’re doing well.
“Don’t be scared, but be cautious” great advice
ahhh this makes me feel a lot better! I’m going into uni as a 17 yr old and I was feeling really nervous of literally all the topics you hit :,) thank you sm!!!
Me too
your videos have honestly eased so much of my anxiety about going to college in 2 weeks
I love you Lexi!! You have helped prepare me so much for college and you continue to be an inspiration for me. You are an amazing person and people like you are so rare. Keep being you
Your room and fashion sense is so pretty. Also your vibe is super warm. Please keep up the great content!
My mom drinks regularly and even though she's not getting blackout drunk she's still super annoying.
thank you so much for making such an effort to be inclusive with your language for lgbt it means so much 😭 ily
Idk why but when I search up tips for anything serious, if I see a poc I choose them and I 100% don't regret it
I love you so much
Even though these are common sense, I'm thankful that I decided to still listen to refresh my mind! ❤️
Girl I don’t know you but honestly I’m so proud of you for staying clean
your advice is actually gold.
LOVED your point of view of things. You speak so well and give such a good advice, found it really helpful as a freshman college student ❤️
I'm moving out in like three weeks you don't know how much I needed this as a pre frosh 😭
I just love how good and honest the advices you give are. Truly helpful for someone who´s about to start college
I will be going to college next year and your advice has been helpful and raw! Truly appreciate your thoughts and words.
NOT THE GROUP THERAPY CONVENTION💀
someone needs to volunteer to help those ppl 😭
@@lexijpoole yes please😭
You rock Lexi!! Glad to hear there are college students like you with such strong moral values. My son goes to Lafayette. I hope the 2 of you meet one day, maybe @ the Lehigh vs Laf football game, lol.💕
It would be good to see her with a great guy. She deserves the best! Get to hooking them up mom ;)
@@coolkatt4908 Yep, feeling good vibes about it. You never know.😄
@@sgarcia2640 LOL! Cute! He should DM her on IG. That would be juicy to see. LOL
Lexi, I want to be friends with you.
I have been called a square so many times for not drinking alcohol and not going to groove (parties). I have been having so much trouble finding friends who don't look at me like I have 12 eyes when they find out what kind of lifestyle I live/like.
Lmfao the one about food had me gasping. I eat when I’m bored, tired, hungry, mad, happy like ong 😭😭
I felt comfortable talking about this because i’m a freshman in this upcoming school year but I’ll be graduating a year early so I’ll be graduating class of 2024 and before you know it I’ll be in college and my sister is super excited for me and I just watch this video and I feel more comfortable and safe. Thank you 😊
I'm like two years late but I think this is the first video of yours that I've seen, thank you so much for mentioning non-cishet people in your language so casually. It genuinely lights me up whenever people do, and after seeing so many college advice and move in videos, i wasn't really expecting it!!
I love this thank-you so much I needed this advice going into my junior year this semester and I honestly can’t wait to almost be done with college it’s stressful out here girl lols 😭😅 Wishing you a wonderful fall semester 💖📚 love you !!!
Found this bc I’m starting college in a month and it’s a big state college that I wasn’t originally planning to go to. But this video addressed a lot of my worries so thank you! :)
GURL PLEASE when she said “I’ve also been watching criminal minds so” I felt that!!!!
As a first gen this vid was much needed! Thank You soo Much
It's so refreshing watching this video! I have the same opinions about literally every topic you mentioned and this was a nice reminder I'm not like the lone wolf out here lol
One thing i would say is that you are simply amazing its my first time at your channel and i enjoyed the video and I felt like i was ready for college
Your modesty and absolute beauty is amazing ☺️
I'm terrified of starting college, I fear I'll be bullied for being a gay guy
@@bubba283 What college are you going to? It's terrifying for sure
I’m going to a Japanese collage hopefully so 80% of these topics are not really accurate but I really love this video since it’s helpful for some 🤍thank you for being honest about all that stuff
Such great advice! I’m a college Senior and these are great tips for incoming freshman! 💜
I agree with the alcohol part! So glad to hear someone relate, I don't drink and I have so much fun without it
thank you so much! This is the most down to earth and chill video I’ve found on this topic- you made me feel so much better about my freshman year. Thanks!😌
Every incoming college freshman must watch this video.
I literally have the worst social anxiety so i don’t know how I’m going to survive having a roommate in college I don’t know how I feel about having to share a room with some random person
amazinggg and really insightful video Lexi! 🙌 what a queen
thank you beautiful!
I just found you and i think you're gonna become one of my favorite content creators!
As an upcoming senior I agree with all this advice !! Excellent video !
Ive only watched the intro but I’m ready for this advicee
It's honestly so refreshing and shocking to see someone on youtube being so insightful and wise. slay
Ohh my word 😭not me taking a break from UA-cam then I come back to such useful content from you😻I love you so much and I missed your videos😭please keep Inspiring us with such ❤️ sending love all the way from 🇿🇦
im a freshman in high school and yet i watched this whole thing- great advice!
Great video!! i’m a sophomore at Howard but since last year was completely virtual this is my first time on campus and these were great tips
This video was everything. Honestly even a really fucking great reminder, imma be coming back to this vid every once in a while. Thanks for this 🙌
I cant wait for the apartment tour!!
I didn't drink a lot in college and when I did I stopped when I wanted to. A lot of people drank often and a lot of it around me lol
Hi! I just started watching your videos today and I absolutely love your energy and the vibes you give off!! 💘💘💘 thank you for being yourself
thank you for this as a sophomore now and freshmen year being virtually non existent this is so nice. But holy fuck I’ve never seen so much alcohol n drugs getting used so much ever since I got to college. Ts is crazy bro. I’m also scared to go to frats Bc at my college it’s known as rape shore 💀
By far the BEST college advice thank you girl! I love how you’re so smart and cautious, you remind me of myself lol 😂💯💕
Gurl, where TF are the parties and drugs, I spent my first year of college sad and crying in my room 😭😭
it’s like you read my search history
Third year uni student here.
Watched your first video.
Subscribed.
I love you already and you are amazing!
Also there are websites where you can look for student reviews of the professors ahead of time so when you go to pick classes you can get the professor you want and not suffer
i 100% agree about not rooming with your high school friends. y'all... you will not leave that situation as friends, let's just say that
I don't think going random is always the best bet, if you get along with someone you know going to your college that fall and you weren't friends in hs then I see nothing wrong with asking if they're interested in being roommates with you
You don’t really know someone until you live with them. My mom roomed with her high school friend and she was the roommate from hell
you’re literally me 🤣🤣. I love the vibe 💛!
when I was in high school a few years ago, my chemistry teacher HATED me. She loved my twin sister the year before but since I had epilepsy/seizures she didn't like dealing with them or following my 504 plan
thats messed up hating on a kid or making things unnecessarily difficult for some1 with illness ant conttrol
