Awesome watching you play Couple things I noticed. 1) You can actually rotate the units, you just need to hold down shift and then click and hold with the LMB to rotate. Why it is done this way when during the actual battles there is the little nubbin to click on and rotate... I dunno. 2) Units with spears get a bonus if they are standing still and reciving a charge. Up to 3 ranks are allowed to attack in the first round as opposed to two. Don't charge with spearmen. 3) You can see charge ranges for both sides by pressing C and X. If you hold shift, you can see ranges. 4) The wounds counter updates after the combat round is over. 5) The battle log goes a bit backwards. The action is below the roll, so when you got confused about the War Chief's # of attacks it was actually the result of your Skelly Bois crumbling after getting smacked in the face by a giant club. Basically instead of routing undead units just take extra casualties. The War Chief just had 4 attacks. 6) One thing to consider is to field a unit with halberds if you are up against a big high defense unit like the Giant. Power 3 skellies are gonna struggle. Halberd's make it so that the max save is 4+ regardless of a unit's defense. 7) Don't forget you can move your artillery after firing. Try to escape that charge radius. 8) It was a lot of fun to watch you figure it out. I struggle with undead, though for the most part I've just been playing the campaign where I find they end up taking such ridiculous casualties that I find it really tough to grow my army. Had some reasonable success just leaning hard into elites like the Wight Guard and Knights.
I think it's great and have been hooked! The campaign mode is good fun, a roguelite thing where you have to build up and level up your army, and never seem to have enough money to get those juicy units to give you an edge. Really good fun game, kudos to the devs.
the game i've been waiting for for decades!!! don't know why we don't have more, gridless, direct adaptations of tabletop minis experience! people could make a killing!
There is no initiative. Everyone attacks simultaneously. Attacks are always directed at the unit or mount, unless there is a lord on each side, in which case they attack each other. I love SOVL, and I hope you keep playing it. I might be able to answer any other questions that might pop up, as I’ve been playing it for eight months now. 😅
@@RichardYorke1945 Good to hear. I hope you get the chance to play some multiplayer as well. All the factions feel quite different and true to their WHFB counterparts, so if you’re familiar with those, you’ll have a good idea about what you’re getting.
Thanx Richard, awesome game, more please !

Really wish some of these tips would be explained in game.

Hope they add more depth to it

May I ask, in PvP can one save during the game? Also, does it have a PBEM function or do both players have to be 'on' at the time?
@@bladeheart667 looks like both players have to there ...pbem
