Renowned poet, lyricist and screenwriter, Javed Akhtar denounces religion and classifies educated adults following religion as having undergone child abuse. “How can anyone decide what religion a
child should follow? It is like marrying your daughter at the age of two.” On Urdu being called a language of Muslims, he says, language has to do with region and not religion.
Additionally, he sees excellence in writing as a result of writers’ leftist and/or left of centre positions. Politics and religion, according to him, are intertwined and have created a false two-nation theory.
Javed Akhtar is a multiple award-winning poet, lyricist and script writer. He was a part of the Salim-Javed duo who wrote some of the most memorable film scripts in 1970s including Sholey, Deewar, Zanjeer and Mr India. As a lyricist, he is known for popular songs like "Ek Ladki Ko Dekha" from 1942: A Love Story, "Ghar Se Nikalte" from Papa Kehte Hai and "Sandese Aate Hai" from Border. He has won five national film awards, six Filmfare awards, Sahitya Akademi Award in Urdu, Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. He was also selected as a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha in Parliament.

Being an atheist sometimes very difficult to deal with people around who are highly religious... but hearing Javed Sahab is really soothing to my ears.
It's not about being atheist....infact it's good that people are on their way to not just belive in God beacause their parents did but why does in today's India being atheist means to target and preaching only Hinduism scriptures....whereas if the country is in majority of other than sanatan values he would be beheaded for saying these...why don't he also condemn other religions equally

Dear friends and people of India. I have no faith left in the majority of politicians of India. But, I have faith and belief in the younger generation in their 20s and 30s. I would want us to take India to it's zenith together. That could only happen when we treat everybody equally irrespective of their religion, caste, creed, sex etc. The younger generation of India match their wavelengths with that of the great thinker like Javed Akhtar, which is commendable. Please, be proud of the Indian constitution as it provides equality to everybody. It is the politicians who make us fight in terms of our religions. Please respect each other and the makers of the constitution.

Put a scientist on that stage. This guy is a showman fiddling with people's sentiments to get a good cheer. The very foundation of science is to ask a relevant question to a competent authority. You don't become a scientist by reading Richard Dawkins or Stephen Hawkins. Years of toil go into that. People devote their whole lives to a field and still are unsure to answer a flat question. It's because "we do not know, we are trying our best". This guy has an answer to everything without the requisite learning on anything. So much like the religious gurus he pretends to ridicule.
