- In today's Tech With Brett video I show you how to easy make a video call between iPhone and Android devices using Google Duo. Google Duo was released for Android and iPhone in Aug. 2016.
The app only requires you to verify the phone number and you can begin calling others that have done the same. You can easily invite others even if they are on a different platform.
This is Google's competitor to Facetime™ and is a very simple cross platform solution. This will work if you are are on 3G, LTE or Wi-Fi, it will even transition between the two. Get started by downloading Google Duo today!

Thank you so much for this live tutorial. It's the Best!! I just finished my very first Duo call (note 9) with my son (Iphone), on speaker. It was fun BUT no matter what I tried I had to strain to hear his voice, it was extremely low volume. My hearing is great. Son says the problem is on my phone as he could hear me fine. He was telling me my first grandchild is going to be a boy 💖. How do I fix the volume on a call. He called me.
I'm glad you got it to work! 2 things to try for your volume.
1. Make sure your phones media volume is all the way up.
2. When you are on the call tap the screen and press the 3 dots on screen. You should see a Bluetooth option. Tap on it to see if there is any change.
This has happened to me and that usually fixes it.

Quit saying this works. You have to have a phone number on both devices. As with FaceTime you can FaceTime between 2 apple devices with neither having phone numbers. It uses email address and Wi-Fi. So far it want work unless you have service and a phone number. So all of you putting videos out saying this is FaceTime for android you are lying.
+Jeremy Hamilton You caught me and you are correct. FaceTime has certainly become the name that has caught on for Video Chat around the world. It might be better if I call it, "Like FaceTime but for iPhone and Android"
Before it was the case but lately they allow you to use without have use your number or can just be email, but still asks to get access to things like contacts. Your number can be used as verification, but doesn't require now to have google duo working. Many people get numbers these days even years ago not so much of an email, so even if it requires your number, not a big deal.

Sadly, duo is not compatible with my new Samsung S6, so I've had to keep my old iPad 2 so that I can call my grandson. Is an update coming for the S6?

I miss when it was called duo. Why did they have to change it over to Meet? I don’t see Apple changing FaceTime over to just video chat or Apple chat come on Google.

very helpful I THINK.....I allowed everything (with much fear! - especially like your Mom - a bit concerned!)... I have Android, downloaded Duo. I did find my daughters phone number (she has iphone) and invited her to download the app.....BUT THEN - I GOT A TEXT MESSAGE FROM 22000 WITH 'yOUR GOOGLE VERIFICATION CODE IS ...... this has me concerned...is this a hack attempt for all my contacts? I only want it between me and my daughter - no one else
No that is just to verify that you actually used your correct phone number to sign up. It automatically put that code into Google Duo so you didn't have to. No reason to be concerned!

Can you tell me after you download it how to go back and video call. I don't seem to find the little app log in.
When you open the app it should ask you to sign in. When you scroll down you should see your contacts that have access to the app as well and you can call them.

it will not let you log in , it asks for your phone number, you enter your number then it says it "unable to send request .please check connection and try again" connection is fine this app is garbage and just doesn't work, there is no way to proceed
